ESPN Radio in NY

Post by ANT7088 »

I was listening this morning & they were interviewing Tiki Barber, Tiki said & I quote "Antonio [Piece] helped us out alot, he was able to tip us off on alot of the Defensive packages the Redskins were coming out in"

I'm not making any kind of excuse, but this just sucks for us. It seemed like they knew everything we were doing before we did. Maybe they (phone) tapped the headsets, LOL!

Thanks for the update ANT. Stay strong over there in enemy territory. We'll get 'em back in DC. Peace, bro.

Hmmm... maybe the coaches should have changed their play calls :(. I think this lies on the coaches. Heck, the Redskins should have swept the Giants the last year with Barrow. Heck, the Redskins should have managed to beat the Eagles at least once with the Redskins having Trotter knowing the Eagles system.

Excuses, excuses. As Doc Walker said, your opponent USUALLY knows what you are going to do, it's about the players executing the plays. The Redskins didn't play with a high level of energy or execution. They should be executing in practice against players who already know their system anyways.

That just goes to show you, when you let somebody like that go, they will come back too haunt you. Especially a division Rival thats just stupid, and the Giants picked him up just for that. And i dont think that was the deciding factor, the Giants defense had a point to prove and they did bottom line, and you cannot turnover the ball in your own terriorty.

Serves the Skins right for not anticipating this. The Giants have 2 former players, one the leader of the Defense last year and the former back up QB (Hasselbeck) and they dont tweak the system for this game to compensate?

Plus, they should have kept Piarce anyway, since he was a "core" guy.
Just beat Dallas - they are A-H****

Tiki corroborated his story later today on the Dan Patrick show. He also said that they would run at Lavar's side whenever he was in the game, since they knew he was mainly being used to blitz.

From Wilbon's column in today's Post:

No doubt, Antonio Pierce helped his new team with as much intel as possible on his old team during the week. The Giants felt from the first defensive series they knew what the Redskins were going to run. In fact, at times they were calling out the plays as the Redskins were about to snap the ball. Good for Pierce. The Redskins ought to be hurt in a tangible way by always adoring somebody else's players and not recognizing when they've got The Man already on their roster. What sweet revenge for him.

This has to be on the coach's shoulders. Knowing that your opponent has 2 players that know your system inside-and-out and you don't account for that? Also where were our coaches at half time? It didn't seem like they made any adjustments whatsoever. The players got beat on the field but our coahces were badly badly outcoached yesterday.

Sorry, but that is just an excuse! It means abolutely nothing. You can tell a defense what you are doing just by how you line up and then if you do not execute it does not work. As far as defending a running play, Tiki gets no yards if you put him on the ground - this is very simple. Tackle the guy!

The NFL is about blocking, tackling and catching - it is not about finding out what another team is going to do.

That is media twisting at its finest - get over it - we were not tricked, we did not tackle, we did not block, we did not catch - end of story!
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I couldn't agree more. This loss was on the entire team. It starts with the coaches but they didn't fumble the second half kickoff. Even if they did make adjustments, we would never know it. Every time we had anything positive happen, 5 negatives would follow.

We might as well burn this tape, focus on Philthy, and then punch them in the mouth Sunday Night. The only positive is we do get the chance to redeem ourselves on Primetime TV this week

It is not "the media twisting at its best", I heard Tiki say it with my own 2 ears on the Mink & Mike show at about 7:30a.m.!

Everything else you said was true, but Tiki did say this.

In 1982, the Redskins not only ran the same play 9 times in a row successfully, but they told Randy White they were going to run over him prior to each snap. This was against the Cowboys in the NFC championship game.

Perfectly executed defense will always beat perfectly executed defense every time. Would it be nice to know what play was coming everytime? Sure. Does it guarantee success? Not at all.

As much as I want to blame someone or make an excuse, we just got out-executed and out-classed on Sunday.

We went into the game thinking we were going to win, and I think looking a bit ahead to the Eagles.

He said that Pierce told them that when they line up they are anticpting about 5 plays that the other team will run and are prepared to defend against them. So they "went away from their tendencies" a bit.

Yes the game is about tackling,etc... but when your defense is predicated on being in the right place at the right time based upon the play(s) you think they will run... and then the opponent runs a different play which exposes the flaw in your scheme (every play that a defense runs has a few "achilles heels")...well then the opponent is going to have a big day against you. Case in point on Sunday. Pierce was the field general for the Defense last year and knew the defense inside and out...it was obviously a factor on Sunday (how much of a factor is debatable given the emotion of the giants and lack-of with the Redskins).

It's offical. I hate Antonio Pierce, and I can't wait to run over his Big Blue Butt the next time we see him.
Piece of crap.
