Difference of a Week
I could do no wrong last week. From Monday to Friday, all was well with the world. If someone cut me off, I kept my golfballs stashed in my glovebox, and forgave them. If I got a bad grade, I forgot about it. If my girlfriend complained, I did what I could to make her happy.
Then today came, and my life went to hell. Redskins hell! I don't care who I upset, I'm going to throw it out there, and tell it like it is.
Joe Gibbs' game-plan was horrendous. Our offensive line had their worst game in the year-plus since Gibbs returned. Mark Brunell looked like the Brunell of last year! I know there were dropped passes, and that the protection was terrible, but he did nothing. He couldn't scramble, and like last year, he completed more passes to people on the sidline than he did to receivers on the field.
The Skins looked like crap, and acutally laid a goose-egg. That was the worst game I've ever watched, and unlike the Skins, I didn't quit. I stayed glued to the TV for all 60 minutes. I'm bitter, a week after being in Skins Heaven...

A difference of a week. A difference of opponents. We played a pop warner team last week. We faced a motivated professional team this week. Next week, it's time to step up.

We just experienced the Redskins of last year. Hopefully they'll be able to come to present times next week.
"I was on the sideline and guys were talking about the score, and then it hit me -- we won by 21. I came in the locker room and I yelled it out, and immediately I just kind of broke down in tears. Because I miss Sean, you know."
I agree! Horrible performance all round. I would not be looking forward to practice next week if I was player but the coaches also need to take a good look at themselves too. This was terrible!
I also think we will see a very different effort next week. We are 4-3 and we all have seen the plays made and the extra efffort from everyone that was not there today!
This will make us better - we are a better team than what we saw today and like "a slap in the face" this is our wake up call

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Dontforget to keep things in perspective...we only played 2 division games, both on the road, and we are 1-1. We are still 4-3 and very much in control of our destiny. Plus, we are still relatively healthy. Also, our next 2 games are VERY winnable, Philly is looking like crap, and Tampa isnt the same w/ Simms or Tim Rattay at QB.
'Skins 2005 Superbowl champs... crazier things HAVE happened!

Now we just need to see how the team responds after a monster loss.
I mean, I think the players (and the fans) started drinking the Redskin Flavored
-Aide. I mean I love Clinton Portis and his character and it is very important for the team to stay loose, but maybe the tone has to be a little more serious around the clubhouse.
Next week its Sunday Night against Philly at our house, and hopefully we will want it more than we did today.

Last year we didn't get shutout. I cann't remember anything similar.
I was glad when halftime came cause I thought everything that could go wrong happenned in the first half and we were only down by 19.... then came ladell and fumble and loss the kick off and I thought, this is it, wellington is making the plays from above, or beyond..... No way we'll win this one.
Have to rebound bigtime nextweek.
HaiL,

WE WILL NOT LOSE NEXT WEEK. WHY?. BECAUSE AFTER THIS IMBARASSMENT GIBBS WILL TEAR EACH PLAYER A NEW....
OUR DEFENSE WAS NOT AT PAR,BUT GIVING THE FACT OF THE TURNOVER RATIO , THEY CONTROLLED THE RED ZONE FOR THE MOST PART ONLY GIVING UP FIELD GOALS MOST OF THE TIME. THE STUPID PENALITES ALSO HURT BUT YOU LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES AND LIFE GOES ON. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY ABOUT OUR OFFENSE GOING UP AGINST A PANSEY DEFENCE..BUT THE GIANTS PLAYED WITH EMOTION TODAY AND NO SATISTIC CAN EVER FACTOR THAT IN. GOOD LUCK NEXT WEEK SKINS AND I HOPE TO BE SINGING A DIFFERENT TUNE COME FROM A WEEK TODAY.

What the Skins need to do is put this game behind them. Forget about the score. Sure, it's "one loss" but that's all it is.....one loss. One loss will not kill this team. We'll see what kind of "team" we have now, folks, by how they respond to this embarassing performance.
We need to come home...and luckily, that's where they'll be next week.
I want you all to put the blame for this loss on my shoulders, however. I wore my Lavar Arrington All-Star jersey to the bar to watch the game...and more than one person pointed out that it looked like a Giants jersey. Bastards! I think it was that bad mojo.
My bad. I hope you can all forgive me. I'll be back wearing my
ey jersey next week.

I feel you. It seemed like they were trying to lose out of respect for the Giants owner.KPrince1975 wrote:That was the worst effort I have seen a professional football team give in a very long time. 2-14 is fine with me as long as those two come against the Cowgirls!!!!!!!!

I could not agree more...I think the team (and myself) took way to much from the win over San Fran. But the Philly came is a huge gut check...this thing is far from over. Also, I am so glad comming off a loss like this that Gibbs is our coach, I can only imagine the kind of stinker we would put up next week if Norv or S.S. were at the helm.
HALE TO THE REDSKINS!!!!!!!

In my experience, this kind of hideous and horrendous loss is usually preceeded by a couple of incredibly stupid losses and followed by a season destroying round of name calling and finger pointing. I predict like catastrophes to follow unless everyone gets a grip, now, and Williams sends Daniels and Holdman to the bench and someone wakes up Gibbs to the realities of NFL play calling by hitting Samuels with a board and softening Royal's hands with a crab mallet.

We laid an egg today. But guess what. The Eagles did too, and we are only a game out of first place.
There are more games left to be played than have already been played. We lost the game, whether it was 36-0 or 36-35 it still goes down as 1 loss. You don't get 2 losses for getting blown out.
We have to focus on Philly. San Fran came out and beat Tampa today after getting humiliated last week.
We just have to stick together and get healthy against the Eagles. We played poorly all the way around today, but all is not lost.

Absolutly, however they MUST come back with a A++ effort in front of the National ESPN Sunday Night Football audience at FedEx next week. We are aproaching mid way here in 2005 a win 5-3, a loss 4-4. Alot predicted 10-6 this season 5-3 at 1/2 way is a good start to that.

You could have called out 45 players and I wouldn't have a gripe, but in my opinion Phillip Daniels was one of a handful of guys who played well. There were two particular plays in which I thought he did a terrific job, both of which on screen passes. He was rushing Eli Manning off of the corner, but rahter than pursuing and leaving Tiki Barber unattended to, he dropped back in coverage and followed #21 into the flat as he was supposed to. He did a nice job against the run for the most part as well. You can blame all of the big runs off left tackle against him, there was LB and safety help (most of the time Warrick Holdman and Sean Taylor) on his side as well.
If any one on that defense should be benched after today's effort, it should be our most gifted athlete Sean Taylor. He took a half-dozen angle's that led to huge plays for New York, and missed a handful of open-field tackles. Daniels and Demetrick Evans were about the only players fighting deep into the 2nd half, so I can't fault him for too much of what happened.
The only two offensive starters that did anything were Rock Cartwright and Patrick Ramsey in garbage time. Cartwright had 21 yards on 2 carries and Ramsey drove the team to the 5, and would have had his first TD of 2005 if not for a Robert Royal drop in the endzone...

I agree with most all of you. This game just stunk it up.I don't know how you cannot get up for a big divisional game like this, but they didn't.I hope maybe this brings the team back down to earth a little,as I believe maybe they were beginning to believe a little of their hype and praise being layed upon them by the media lately and that they will go back to work this week with a new desire and purpose.I agree that the only thing you can do after a game like this is just forget about it. We have a GOOD chance to take the Eagles this week at home and finish the first half at 5-3 and remember that the Giants and Cowboys have to come to Fed-Ex in the second half. I still like our chances for the playoffs,we just need to address some problems on both O and D and get back to work!

pathetic doesn't begin to describe this debacle.
If I had my way, they'd all be walking back to DC from the Meadowlands, including Joe Gibbs and Greg Williams. It didn't appear that anybody in the Redskins brain trust realized that Matt Hasselbeck and Antonio Pierce would pass along what they knew to the Giants? That doesn't excuse the pathetic blocking, tackling, fumbling, etc., but no adjustments were made all day long. Worst coaching job I've ever seen from Joe Gibbs.
Having said that, we're still 4-3, and if we beat Flydelphia Sunday night then we're in good shape.

Joe Gibbs has taken ownership of this loss. I do not mean this figuratevely. He said:
"We have to look at the entire team starting with me."
I am convinced that he is at least as embarrassed as we are, most certainly more than anybody else.
Say what you might, the game next Sunday against Philthy may define the rest of our (and ther) season if we (or they) loose.
I hate our offensive line right now. One thing is clear: Protection means wins with Brunnell. Otherwise, we will have disasters in the making -everytime-.

Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!
