Giant Blowout?
Not being naive, over-confident, or foolishly cocky. But just curious what thoughts are on the Giant game? Most think it will be a dog fight, however, the 49er defense is rnked dead last in the NFL.
Guess who is second to last??....That's right, the NY Giants. We are facing the worst defense and the second worse defense in consecutive weeks. Their offense is good, but our defense is consistently stout. This game could have ingredients of another blowout. Likely not a 35 point shallacking, but a 31-10 repeat of last season's game may not be far off.
This year's Giants in my opinion are not a legitimate contender. History has shown that Top 5 offenses are not enough to get it done when the defense is poor. That is exactly what the Giants are this year.

Check out the 1991 Redskins schedule. I hope we can get to a point where we consistently turn in dominant performances. Sure, Gibbs says to the media and to the team that all of our games are close, that is to keep the team focused.
But this is a reminder of how dominant a Gibbs lead team can be when we execute on all cylinders for the entire season.
1 | Detroit Lions | W | 45- 0 |
| 2 | at Dallas Cowboys | W | 33-31 |
| 3 | Phoenix Cardinals | W | 34- 0 |
| 4 | at Cincinnati Bengals | W | 34-27 |
| 5 | Philadelphia Eagles | W | 23- 0 |
| 6 | at Chicago Bears | W | 20- 7 |
| 7 | Cleveland Browns | W | 42-17 |
| 8 | |
| 9 | at New York Giants | W | 17-13 |
| 10 | Houston Oilers | W | 16-13 |
| 11 | Atlanta Falcons | W | 56-17 |
| 12 | at Pittsburgh Steelers | W | 41-14 |
| 13 | Dallas Cowboys | L | 21-24 |
| 14 | at Los Angeles Rams | W | 27- 6 |
| 15 | at Phoenix Cardinals | W | 20-14 |
| 16 | New York Giants | W | 34-17 |
| 17 | at Philadelphia Eagles | L | 22-24
By the way 1991 season was the last time the Skins has a Top 5 Offense AND a Top 5 defense. Offense was #1, Defense was #2.

Their offense is 15th and their passing offense is 13th - they are not a very good team offensively and as you pointed outthey are next to last defensively!. They have been very lucky and that is over!
The point spread of Giants -3 is a betting line only and goes to prove how many stupid (betting) people live in NY - that is BS!
This is a W! next up, the iggles at home!
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Re: Giant Blowout?
I agree I dont think they are a legitimate contender. The key is turnovers...in two of there wins they got over 10 TO. We cant give them the ball and we must finish drives. In another win special teams scored 2 tds. We win if we dont turn the ball over and do win the special teams battle. The Hogster wrote:Not being naive, over-confident, or foolishly cocky. I agree JM - don't get me wrong, I do not think this will be as easy a win as the stats indicate, because it is a division game and on the road but I think we are just a better team and I feel we just have the desire to win this.
I also believe that Arrington will dominate that offensive line. Did anyone notice how long this kid needs? Denver were delaying their blitzes and still almost getting to him. Hopefully the defensive line is not too banged up after SF!!
Dallas was sweet but this is going to be the begining of the end for the gints! This is a much bigger challenge for them than for us. We have the teamwork and are starting to get better each week. We have played very well the last 3 games.

Stupid???? Since when do all the betting lines come from NY???? That's just a STUPID comment!
This will not be a blow out, I live in NY & get stuck watching the Giants every week, they may be ranked 2nd to last but they're are better then that. This will be a fight till the 2 minute warning
I say 20-17 Redskins! or 21-20 Redskins!

The Giants like us always keep their games close one way or the other. I definately don't think we will walk away without an exhausting and hard fought battle. I think they actually have the advantage because they are at home. Either way it will be a close one.

I really like our chances agains the G-men, the way our line played yesterday. I think we will control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Our d line will stop the run, I think Greg Willams will put something in defense to make sure we do not give up the big play. The only thing that worries me is the size of Burress. He is really big and physical and I think that will give our coners promblemes, only Taylor can cover him, but he will be so busy covering Shockey.

I think that makes Lemar Marshall's versatility a great plus. He was a saftety in college and his ability in pass coverage will be a great asset to help out on Shockey.

I disagree. I don't see him giving us as big of a problem as you think. Last year we shutdown TO and R. Moss. Burress is a good WR but he isn't a Moss or TO. Burress will be aided by our lack of a pass rush but we didn't have one last year either. We'll be forcing them to pass, we'll shutdown their mediocre running game. If we can get some pressure we'll get an errant throw.
Our D is better than their D. We'll cause 3 and outs and it'll come down to the 2 points the cost us to lose our two games. Offensive turnovers, and capitalizing on the 3 and outs that our D provides by scoring.
Taylor will be covering Shockey for the most part, along with Marshall. Springs can handle Burress, Walt can handle Toomer or whoever is their #2, Rogers will be fine with their 3rd WR.

I also feel a blowout... I dont want to be overconfident but i definetly feel we have a serious edge on both sides of the ball.

I still think that we will win at the last moment like the games before the 49ers game...remeber wht the giants did to the Broncos...they came back and beat them.....I will not say that this will be easy, but I think our offense is better, and our defense is way better...so I think we'll win.....27-21.....

I disagree. I feel that the NFC East is up for grabs for the first time over the last five years. ANY team in it can win it. Eli is showing signs of maturity.
We have never had it easy against them or within the Division. This is going to be a hard-fought game from the first quarter to the last 2 minutes.
Lots of hard hitting, hopefully not too many injuries to either side.
