About 6 months ago I remember reading a thread that someone made about Gibbs having no talent when in comes to picking players in the draft or recognizing talent from other teams to bring them in here. I was thinking about this as I was leaving the stadium and started to count on my fingers of the players and coaches that Coach Gibbs has assembled. Or just players that have come to our team since Mr. Gibbs has arrived.
Coaches
~Greg Williams
~Bugel
Players
~Mark Brunell
~Santana Moss
~Sean Taylor
~Clinton Portis
~Carlos Rogers
~Shawn Springs
~Casey Rabach
~Chris ey
~Marcus Washington
~David Patten
and anyone else you guys wanna mention that I forgot. Ya give coah a little time and this is what he puts together.
So how about that? Gibbs and the rest of our Coaches have one heck of an eye for talent, wouldnt you agree?
Don't matter where you are.... YOU'RE IN REDSKINS COUNTRY!
As I just wrote in another thread, Moss is THE BEST WR in football, Portis is a top 10 (if not better) RB, and Brunell is a top five QB right now. ey is also one of the best TEs in football.
And Reedemed is correct, the brilliance of yesterday and the last few weeks is that EVERYONE is contributing. Just look at the way Mike Sellers is playing. This is good coaching, all these guys are put into positions where they can excel no matter what their percieved "talent" level is. This is a TEAM!

Brunell was also established, I thought it was bs when they said Brunell wasn't healthy last year. But now I believe that was the truth. When I first heard it, I was like he's making exscuses, but now I believe he wasn't healthy last year and that is why he played poorely. I still think Ramsey will be good, but one can't produce when a coach doesn't believe in you.

You're assuming that if Gibbs "believed" in Ramsey (whatever that means) that he could produce. Without starting any huge random threads here, I think that it's far more likely at this point that Ramsey can't produce for us, and that Gibbs sees this. But it's all speculation at this point, I suppose.

we will find out when he is some were else. Stan Humphries didn't produce for Gibbs and he took the Chargers to the superbowl. Rich Gannon couldn't produce for a lot of coaches and than with Grunden he became a big star. I am pretty sure there are alot more stories like that in the NFL. The defensive line coach, he is the man.

I wouldn't put David Patten he really hasn't done anything yet. Antonio Pierce it was for one year but what the hell, Lemar Marshall. I wouldn't put Carlos Rogers up, Mike Williams looked real good this weekend. Rogers is good, but he might not be better than Williams. Walt Harris he was a signing, Ryan Clark, Mike Sellars, Thrash, Joe Salava.

While he has not prduced as much on the field, please do not take for granted the winning attitude and veteran leadership that Patten brings to the team. He's a stud, and he had a huge catch and run yesterday.

Yeah, Moss credited Patten's enthusiasm and leadership for the Dallas victory. He said he was down and out but Patten came over, gave him a pep talk, asked what Moss was seeing out there and told him they were still in the game. After the game Moss couldn't praise Patten's leadership more. He was a great addition, he's certainly better than Gardner.

Yeah thats true, he is a locker room guy. I think of him more of a third reciever. Good but not starter, sort of like Thrash but better. Don't get me wrong I think it was a good signing.
Santana Moss is playing the way he did last year actually only a little better. Here's what you don't know last year they only threw him the ball 45 times. If we threw it to him as much as we did Coles last year here's what Santana's numbers would have been. 90 receptions for 1620 yds. I multiplied it by 18 instead of 18.6 because my cell doesn't have a point, well it does but its a pain to use. This if he gets 90 receptions he should get over (I am multiplying this by 19 and not 19.6)1710 yds. I think both of those are better than Coles 900.
DT Cornelius Griffin...how could all of you forget him? If he's hurt and unable to play Sunday, our Defense takes a step back...he's playing like a man since coming the year before last...
Supposedly Moss is on track to get over 100 receptions and over 2000 yards which would break Jerry Rices single season stat thingy...I read that somewhere last night.
At his current pace, which admittedly will be difficult to maintain, Moss would finish with 105 receptions, 2,019 yards and 13 touchdowns. He has never registered more than 74 catches in a season; only once went for 1,000 yards in his four seasons in New York; and averaged only 4.8 touchdown catches there. Oh, yeah, the NFL record for single-season receiving yards is 1,848 yards, by the incomparable Jerry Rice in 1995. -Fat Lenny Pastabelly aka Don Vito

He brought back James Thrash and Cory Raymer ... Cornelius Griffin has been mentioned... Walt Harris has been a plus for us.
You also have to look at those that left ... Champ, AP, Freddy aren't the players I'm thinking of... I'm thinking about the Coles and the Gardners players like J. Trotter and Mike Barlow/Jesse Armstead to a extent.
For those who don't know we have a GM
His name is Joe Gibbs

When you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot in it and hold on....
Im still an advocate for a GM....though my opinion is changing slowly. Im still not sure we're looking far enough down the road when signing these contracts.
Maybe once we get from under the shadow of 2000 we'll be fine.

Patten hasn't had many opportunities, but he has caught the balls we have thrown to him. In fact, I haven't seen many drops this season by either of our receivers.
That alone makes him a serious upgrade over Garnder. Just think, we got rid of Garnder, got a draft pick in return for him, and got rid of the toe and got the best receiver in the league.
I hope Santana doesn't want to renegotiate after this year.

There's more to football than "measurables". Patten's value lay in the three Super Bowl rings he has and I suspect how he conducts himself in the locker room and in practice. Character counts for something.

I agree. We've heard nothing but positives about Patten as far as his work ethic, his presence in the locker room, and his blue collar mentality. It's the same reason why I think so highly of Thrash, even though he's not one of our 'stars.'
