I'd usually agree but I can let him slide under these circumstances.
I only say that because it's his "me first" attitude that got him in the doghouse in the first place. It's one thing to be excited and fired up (see: Washington, Marcus), but it's another to try to draw TOO much attention all to yourself, when 10 other guys are also bustin' their humps to make the squad effective.
kspeed10 wrote:Lavar was great and he fed off the crowd who was ecstatic to see him on the field. However, my concern is whether he will continue to play. This was the 49ers, the worst offense in the league. The Giants have a much better offense and we'll see if Coach Williams will feel comfortable putting him in in a game of that magnitude.
Lavar needs to be out there, he flat out makes plays that our other defensive players don't, even if it was against the 49ers. I don't know that this is the end of this issue.
Hey, what could be better??? The uncertainty of whether Lavar plays is a plus for this team. Here's why: opposing team's game plans can be rendered moot if they think Lavar will not be there, so when they see him there, they'll have to adjust on the fly, and THAT's when we'll see hte magic happen.
True, it's wishful thinking, and maybe a bit naive on my part to think so, but don't count out the fact that this coaching staff might be using Lavar as a secret weapon of sorts. And, as we saw yesterday, that's a good thing.
My concern is that he won't even be used, that we put him in this game but Coach Williams won't trust him against the Giants. Again, we'll still have an amazing talent sitting on our bench who everyone knows can make plays and make our defense better.

The guy had been itching to get on the field, celebrations should have been expected.
I missed the game yesterday (no Internet, no TV, & no Sound until late in the game) but it seems Lavar played well by all accounts. It appears that Lavar was in on a lot of 3-4 formations. Thats something we hadn't seen since the first few games of the year.

When you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot in it and hold on....
Once again, some of us will always find something to gripe about. So Lavar comes in, plays well, leads the team in tackles (3 behind the line of scrimmage), we put up 52 points, starting D only gives up 10...and we are talking about Lavar's celebrations???
No one complains when Marcus Washington does his dance after a big play...why? Because we all like him. Some of you must have something against Lavar, why single him out on things that they all do?
Not to pick on Redeemed, but seriously guys Lavar will be Lavar. I don't think he is as poisonous as we make him out to be. Take a look around the league, there are really some "me first guys" there, and I like our mix.

Well, to his credit, Marcus has established himself as a leader on THIS defense over the past year-and-a-half, and he usually celebrates with the team.
However, it WAS exciting to see #56 wreaking havoc on a demoralized 49ers team. My friend and I had this discussion in the stands. Lavar played realy well, and his production left nothing in doubt, the man came ready to play.
I'm not being argumentative, nor am I going to be a die-hard Arrington supporter, I just want to be even-handed when admonishing the guy. He should be held to the same standard as the rest of the guys. I saw him slapping fives, and chest bumping with teamates out there as well.
I am glad Arrington is playing he definetly brings something to this D with his presence. I really think it was his knee why he wasn't playing. Think of it he started last year before he got hurt, so he couldn't be a problem. They were just trying to make sure so they didn't make the same mistake they made last year bringing him out too early. Remember at the end of last year he played at the end and that could have set him back. So they didn't want to make the same mistake. Do you all think this could be a possiblilty.
- Working every single day, hoping to get the opportunity to play. He had no idea he would play that much.
- He's bigger than when he last played. He's 5 lbs of muscle heavier. (haad a lot of time to lift while he was out.)
- Confidence shown in him (by the coaches) was more important than anything to him.
- Daniels, Washington, Portis, and Clark all were supporting him to get back into the game.
- Saw confidence in coach's face when they sent him in, and he did not want to mes that up.
- Had private conversation with G. Williams: when over some very private details.
- during the week there was a different attitude toward him. This was the best week of practice for him.
- He wants to be like everyone else, not an exception.
- Two things most proud of: 1) Fans support 2) Didn't spoil opportunities to make plays when they presented themselves.
- Alex Smith tried to slide before Lavar hit him, Lavar didn't want Alex to go down without sending a message to him.
- Two things came out: 1) Potential that this team has 2) Team cannot be complacent.
- People should not lose sight of the fact that you don't get a roster spot in the NFL for free, you need to respect the opponent. (yes, even the Niners) . You need to be productive.
- Gibbs shielded the players from getting caught up with overlooking the Niners with his comments re: the Niners.
- He can relate to the Niners, since he had been on no-win teams before (lotsa talent, but no wins).
- Williams' system is so unique because it breaks down teams so in depth, and the staff knows what an opponent is gonna do. Drills keep the team sharp. Extremely meticulous.
- Says he's been "blessed"to have gone through this experience. Now knows who's in his corner. He can now see who his fairweather friends are. (Redeemed note: :-")
- Amazed at how much the Redskins fans are with him.
- Will continue to keep getting better. He'll leave the rest in the hands of the coaching staff. He's trying to get better to get more reps.
- Firmly believes that this team that this team can do things that people will do
- "I'd be a buffoon" to not do the things that will help him be a part of this team.
- Praised Santana; wonders what "fountain of youth" Mark Brunell dipped into during the offseason.
- Asked about the Giants: watched tail end of their game. 1) They have ability to win. 2) Eli showing signs of playing like Peyton. Will be a tough game to win in the Meadowlands. Whoever makes the least mistakes will win the game. A real test for this team to go there and win.
- Re: Griffin: If he can play, he will play, even if it's his former team or not.

that right there say a whole heck of a lot about Lavar. He's made the transition from me to we. Expect big things from him from here on out and I expect him to continue to be a redskin for the rest of his career.

Indeed. It's clear that he's "fallen into line" and is willing to lay it all on the line for the success of the team. That's all I've been asking for, and now I'm excited.
For those of you with access to the Washington Post, check out the photo gallery. The 4th picture is a still image of the Lavar tackle on Alex Smith.
The guy is in mid air with his arm and hand wrapped arond the back of Smith's helmet. I like that kind of presence on the field. The emotional toll that takes on an opposing QB is immeasureable.

lmao, that's awesome. Lucky we didn't get tagged on that one
Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Lavar has a powerful way of tackling people man. Its like he throws himself in the air, grabs the guy and uses his power and momentum going to the ground to slam the guy to the dirt and not just pull him down.
People hit the ground with a THUD when he does it and it is really intimidating. I think he will only learn more about his assignments and he now sees that playing in this system will still allow him to make a huge impact.
With Holdman turning in another 2 tackle performance, I think people are reminded of just how good Lavar is, and how good he can be if he does the right things.
It sure is a great feeling to be a Redskin fan again eh? I was just reading hkHogs post about our team and player statistics. It's coming together rather nicely. I had faith it would, but this is far exceeding even my expectations lol.
Lavar finally getting back in and looking awesome is like icing on the cake

Hey don't worry. After the way he played and and the fact that Greg Williams said he was proud of LaVar after the game, he will definitely be playing against the Giants. We will need then pass rush he provides to try and rattle Eli.
Hail to the Redskins,
Hail victory,
Braves on the warpath,
Fight for old D.C.!!
I expect him to get more and more playing time with either putting him in the 3-4 defence or have warrick holdman to get less and less playing time. I think that he will be contributer and they won't get rid of him at the end of the season. Does anyone agree?
I think we'll see more of Lavar mainly in the 3-4 because of the injuries to our DTs, and the lack of a pass rush from the DEs. But as long as the defense is playing as well as it is, I don't think they mess with stuff too much...
I don't think the team was actually going to release him at the end of the year. Especially because of his new contract that's worth a lot of $$$.
I thought we'd be fine without LaVar, but I've realized our defense will be a lot more powerful when he's in. Watch for LaVar to get some good playing time against the Giants. He'll gradually prove himself once again to the coaches and will be a starter.
"I was on the sideline and guys were talking about the score, and then it hit me -- we won by 21. I came in the locker room and I yelled it out, and immediately I just kind of broke down in tears. Because I miss Sean, you know."
