Do yourself a favor and check out the locker room video at www.redskins.com. Aside from the great personalities of our players and some insight you'll notice one major thing and thats Joe Gibbs. When Portis, Taylor, Lavar, Brunell are all talking you notice the qualities and beliefs that Joe Gibbs have instilled in them pouring out of their mouths. None of the players talk down about the 9ers, Sean Taylor even goes as far as to call them a good team. Lavar Arrington speaking volumes of Gregg Williams, Sean Taylor being open, honest and friendly, Portis being himself and saying stats dont matter. Portis not only mentioned the playoffs but the superbowl. Its not seeing the team chemistry in full effect and its not something that just occurs during this blow out. Its been a mindset that has shown its head throughout close wins and tuff losses. Its not a fluke and is a mainstay. It makes me wish that Joe was 10 years younger. This mindset is something that Gregg Williams believes in. He and Joe handle two ends of the team but they seem like one person. They both echo the same sentiments and seem to be on the same page. Gregg truely seems like he's happy here and I really hope that our success continues. I really can imagine him staying here after Gibbs leaves. In 3 years we should be a little healthier in the cap, more of the players that Gibbs wants will be here and the offense will be even better.
My thoughts on the game before I leave:
Im still frustrated with the running game. I really feel Portis should have been able to attain 140 yards. Im not pinning it on him, its not this game in particular, I just feel that we need to make a change somewhere. Dockery, has he stepped up this season? Usually if you dont hear about a linemen he's not doing too shabby but I dont think he's dominating like Bugel said he has the potential to do. Should we look to replace and upgrade? Im not sure. Id hate to mess up the chemistry but look how well Casey stepped in without causing a hiccup. I dont think we're getting the push that we need. Is this due to peolpe still stacking the box? I think they are. Our passing game is doing great but they KNOW Portis will beat them and I think teams would still rather us beat them through the air. I feel that certain linemen and Im not sure who they are, aren't sustaining their blocks.
We played the 49ers so part of me isn't too excited about the blowout. However, I believe that a win such as this can bring out certain good things. We were effective in the blitz and getting pressure and even though we were playing a "lesser" opponent that can still transition over to better opponents. I truely believe in how momentum along with execution can lead to a team doing things they aren't supposed to be able to do. I think Lavar earning his way back to the field brought some fire to the defense. Next week will truly be a teast. Even though Eli is a blister of a human being he has turned into a mini Peyton. We can't allow him too much time because he's even cool under pressure, so you know if we give him our usual 2 minutes to throw he'll have some success.
I hope this win reminded the team how it feels. I loved the execution and the fact that we didn't get SLOPPY. 0 offensive turnovers, is an important stat. 98% healthy defensive secondary allowed our defense to cease being reactive and to start dictating. These 3 points are the keys to our success. Every team needs to be able to execute thats nothing special but the other 2 are specific to us. If we can maintain health and concentration then we can win the next 3 games with no doubt.
Hail to the Redskins!

Gibbs will always find something to criticize after each game. This game - allowing a long TD run at the end of the game. I really want this team to stop giving up those stinkin' long runs!
Yes, our defense did a great job for 95% of the game. Still...I hate those long runs.
Otherwise, I agree that this is becoming "TEAM REDSKINS" for the first time in a long, long time.
It's exciting, isn't it?
