Underestimating San Fran.

It seems like we are all blowing this week off as a sure win. I think now that Rattay is gone and Smith will be starting, we should look for a possible "Tom Brady Effect." For some reason I see this being a tough game because I think A. Smith will adapt early throught the first quarter and our D will have to constantly pressure him, scare him. What are your guy's thoughts on this week against Ol' San Fran'?

I don't think the Niners will come into Fed-Ex and lay down.
Washington should win this game with no trouble but "On any Given Sunday" comes to mind everytime I say that. SF had that team in Texas on the ropes and opened the season with a win. This isn't a giveme.

We should be able to "get right" on Sunday. We've got Springs coming back. Killing should play as well. Not too sure about Clark and Salave'a, but we should have a few players returning from injuries on the defensive side of the ball. This will help GW to get back to doing what he likes with the players he had invisioned.

The offense is improving each week and I expect more of the same against the Niners. There are a lot of timing isuses that seem to need to be worked on. Betts and Portis have been walking wounded but both should play again this week.

We need to see more from the special teams this weekend. Why can't they force turnovers too?

This game should answer a lot of questions for fans. As fans we have a lot of different questions, but this game should cover most of them or at least give us a idea as to what the answer is

It will also answer a few prayers....We will win but like skinsdeep said in no way should we "look past" SF. They are hungry and have nothing to lose. We have to put our foot on their throat and not get off til the clock reads 0:00.

Looking Past the 49ers: Not. Going. To. Happen.

Former Redskins general manager Bobby Beathard, the man who initially hired Gibbs to coach the team in 1981, said he watched his old friend's Monday news conference and had to laugh when he saw Gibbs go off on anyone who believes the Redskins will have a cakewalk Sunday against the 49ers, 1-4 after four straight losses.
"That was just vintage Joe," Beathard said. "All you have to do is say 'you've got an easy game this week' and that will always get him going."

I dont like to underestimate any team, so I am glad Gibbs isnt looking past them either.

While you can't overlook a team in the NFL, there is NO way the 49ers win this game.

You can't look past any team. I don't recall any team going winless in a 16 game season so even the worst teams have beat someone....i.e. Dallas' lone victory coming against the skins.

I do look for a sound beating though. Defense and offense need to click to get winning momentum back.

I consider myself a realist.

Realistically, it would be virtually impossible for SF to win this game. We are better offensively, defensively, and on the sidelines. We will be playing at home for the first time in 3 weeks. This will also be Alex Smith's first ROAD start in the NFL, which almost always means doom for his team. We need to snap out of our no turnovers run in this game.

Exactly. I was very pleased at how Gibbs reacted. We should not look past anyone know matter their record. Like Gibbs said ask St. Louis about week 1?

If the Redskins won in Kansas City, I would be worried about the Redskins looking passed this game and focusing more on next week's game against the Giants.

Because the Redskins lost their last 2 games, I can assure all of you, that there is no way in hell our players are looking passed anyone. They'll be ready.

As fans, it's easy for us to look passed the 49ers. If we do, who cares.

If the players do....we'll have problems. I am 100% sure, however, that our players will not.

Even though I'm pretty sure we're going to win, we do have to give them the respect because they're a professional team in the NFL. They may not be so "professional" but they certainly have a chance to win the game.

The defense better get two turnovers this game! Final score: 17-7, Skins are 4-2.

exactly. Were fans... who cares...We'll have all kinds of thoughts and opinions...but I think it's the players who have to be ready to put forth 110% on sunday, no matter the matchup, and I know the REDSKINS are ready!

There is one way... turnovers and penalties - our nemesis... if we turn the ball over and the defense gives up long drives, and they're still in it heading to the 4th quarter, we're in trouble...

I dont see the D giving up big plays since we're pretty good health wise.

That'll allow us to attack and to dictate. For the past 2 weeks we've been attacked and have had to react.

Like you said we need to stop killing ourselves on offense. The defense will be less of an issue this week. Not that it has been in my opinion.

They suck pure and simple. Alex Smith is not good i'd rather have Campbell. There D looks average and ther O will do nothing against us....I know because i'm starting the skins D.
