Hardly...

But I understand football is not just a game of field position, but of winning the psychological battle.

We were losing badly, and needed the momentum, we got it and gave it right away a couple of times, and that's frustrating to watch.

Plus our defense was without one of leaders in Shawn Springs. (hopefully he isn't dinged up too bad...) And besides those 2 big Bell runs, our defense played great defense.

I mean they gave the offense the ball back with 5 mins, and during those five mins. Brunell led the team on like a 90 drive resulting in a TD!

Plus, I think this is going to motivate our team. Look out KC, your going down!

I agree, we played a very good game. But stats don't win games, points do. We need to turn all of those yards gained into points earned. We did look like a solid football team today and each week I see improvements in our offense.

We still need to play Lavar though, we have no pass rush and why bench one of the best players in the NFL? As smart as Greg Williams is I think he could somehow work Lavar into the scheme of things, don't you guys?

We proved tonight that we could hang with the "mighty " from the AFC, in their house.

As for Lavar, I think it was wise not to play him. Had he reinjured the knee in that slop, we'd be picking up the tab on his not playuing at all the rest of the year, whereas right now, there is still hope that he can be inserted against the Chiefs, so long as he sticks with the program.

Any of y' all notice Holdman out there tonight? He did some good things.

A couple of things:

1. First and foremost, our offense has improved each game this year. This makes me optimistic about the future.

2. Don't look now...but Jimoh actually made a good play preventing a WR from catching a long pass. That's right....I said it.....JIMOH!!!

Good game. Tough loss. Definitely something to build on, however.

I agree it's time to bring LaVar in. We also need more of C. Clemons. If Springs and Walt Harris aren't available next week I'll be more than a little upset...I'm already upset with Daniels and Wynn and wish we had Ron Warner back. I know that Tatum's long run was clip assisted, but that play should have been stopped early. The other long run was aided by somebody's missed tackle, Whose? Did anybody get the number.
So far, I haven't heard anyone complain about the no call on the obvious pass interference on ey, which caused us to kick a field goal instead of get a fresh set of down for a probable TD. If you ask me, that was the most damaging and obviously incorrect call the refs made all day.
I'm still a bit shaken up. To outgain a team by about 200 yards and still lose is something to be shaken up about.
To give up those two long TDs was horrible.
To finally use ey to potential, I think, might be a really important breakthought.
I'm shaken up because I have to admit I have vastly under-rated Brunell, who was great...simply great.
I'm shaken up because we suck so badly on special teams. Inconceivable.
I'm shaken up because we simply do not swarm tackle like we did last year. Sorry, but we don't. We do not have the bodies flying everywhere like we had last year.
This attitude that Williams is such a genius that ordinary players can fit into his schemes and just do their jobs is BS. That's not football and never will be. I hope the players forget than nonsense.

You can't be too upset with Daniels. He was in the back field on that first TD run and not too many d linemen are going to be able to tackle a shifty runner like Bell in the open field. Daniels did actually force the play back inside and it was Holdman who didn't keep containment and let Bell break the run. It was Bowen that missed the tackle on the second td run.

I'll agree with you there. I think that our D coaches are a little to arrogant and that they just assumed that they could plug new players into the system and have the same success as last year. Today I think we saw that that just isn't the case. Holdamn simply couldn't get off his blocks and got pinned inside on Bell's first td run. Marshall, Pierce's replacement, gave up the 31 yard reception to Putzier that set up the second td. Jimoh, who is awful, should not be on the field but we didn't address our lack of depth at the cornerback position in the offseason.

I think you guys are turning on this defense too quickly.

1. We have no pass rush
2. Taylor is injured
3. New MLB
4. Springs is out
5. Harris out
6. Bowen may or may not still be hurt
7. A offense that CAN'T capitalize off of what they do give us

We have all of that working against our D and some of you still find ways to whine and moan about them. They shutdown the denver offense except for those two big runs. They made denver put the ball a lot and we DID not capitalize off of those possesions. This defense held up well considering all of the injuries but our offense failed to take advantage of it.

Sure the offense wasn't perfect and was ultimately responsible (along with special teams) for the loss but I think that we've come to hold the defense to a higher standard than that offense. I think that it is just frustrating to watch the offense get better each week as the defense seems to get worse. No pass rush, no turnovers, missed tackles, etc...

I disagree to a point. Yea, I expect a lot from the defense but it has been ravaged by injuries. You can't expect our 3rd and 4th string guys to play like our starters. However they still played well for the situation they were in.

What has our defense done since last year? They've bent but haven't broken. They've kept us in games. As far as I saw they didn't break today but they surely bent.

Both starting coners were off the field for most of the game, which still makes we wonder why GW only carries 4.
This isn't a excuse, this is what happen.

GW's schemes pretty much are reliant on good cornerback play. GW had a rookie and Ade to match up against Rod Smith and Ashley Lelie. This limited the defense. The Broncos still were pretty much held in check minus a few big runs.

The offense is chewing up a lot of clock but still hasn't put 20 on the board. The defense dominatant but hasn't produced any turnovers. Special Teams showed up late but they showed up.

Lots of things didn't go our way but I can see us improving every week. It's one lost.

Hand-to-hand battle the rain and mud, playing "uphill" from the moment that Brunell and Portis fumbled the handoff on the first drive.

Two bad running plays. Otherwise, the defense did not give up much, and knocked the Bronos flat when it mattered most in the 4th quarter.

Ade Jimoh cut a receiver in half, causing a drop, on a key play.

And not much of a pass rush. That's my big worry.

all in all yesterday the effort was there but the refs were not. the red zone offense is still having trouble punching it in the endzone.

they will get better as the season moves along.

Had it not been for the turnover/s and stupid penalties the Broncos we would have blown out the Broncos, put up more points than we have throughout the season, and we'd be sitting pretty at 4-0.

Our offense is beginning to click, and it's looking great!!!
