We must put lavar in the Game.
Hey the team has been great. And im loving it. I wish only the best but I have noticed Arrington standing on the sidelines the Teriminater himself. Our D is very good but I really think if we added two beefy tackles or one Beefy Dt and a beast at Dee End with Lavar coming blitzing on the outside Quarterbacks would pee pee in there pants. Just imagine that.
Sean Taylor starting free safety Heavens team!

Perhaps you'd get a kick out of this.

It's incredibly hard to wath the defense give up two long scoring drives to Seattle, both of which were longer than a dozen plays. It's even harder to watch those drives, while the camera keeps panning to a visibly upset Lavar on the sidelines.
Matty Hasselbeck got sacked once. He dropped back 30 or 40 some times, and only once got sacked. I could have counted the hurries on one hand. And all the while, #56 is watching. That's rediculous. Whatver happend to Gregg Williams' commnets this offseaon, "All these people casting Lavar off are going to eat their words. He's motivated to prove them wrong." Oh yeah? Then put him on the freaken field...

Am I missing something? I want to post something about Arrington but am not sure where to go. Are all the questions about his status and playing time in any specific thread or do you just go to each and every one?
thanx?
thanx?

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I can't as easily turn my back on lavar. Since he got drafted he has been the one bright spot on this year in and year out. He's worked hard and been a leader. After all he's been through with and for this team he deserves to be starting. the lavar leap was one incident but he still had a great college career and a great NFL career up until he got hurt. He's better now though and deserves to on that field. It sort of like if you were dating a fat ugly chick for 5 yrs and then she went and got lypo and plastic surgery and turned into a supermodel just to dump you for another guy. LaVar doesn't deserve that. He's just better and more qualified than anyone else on that field. It's like when people said the vikings would be better without Randy Moss. Give LA a chance he deserves it!

I cannot believe this is about Lavar's criticism of the franchise.
I cannot believe that this is about the defensive schemes.
I cannot believe this is about Lavar's freelancing. If it were about freelancing, the problem would have been solved before week 4.
Both Lavar and the coaches say it's not the knee, and I believe them.
It must be something more serious. Although Lavar's off the field behavior has been exemplarary compared to the other defensive star on the team, by process of elimination I think the most likely reason for the benching is drugs. That doesn't seem likely to me, but it seems more likely than a tendency to freelance.

What really puzzles me about this situation is that if GW and Greg Blache are such defensive "geniuses", why have they not figured out a way to use one the most talented athletes in the NFL?
Once again, I will beat this into the ground. Lavar is not a true LB, he is another L.T.-type player, so use him that way. Suggs is being used that way in Baltimore, Derrick Thomas (R.I.P.) was used that way in KC, and the mold was set by L.T. himself. Someone should ask L.T. what his opinion is on this.
Right now, we have no pass rush and you see what Indy is doing now on Defense with the speed rush of Freeney. The Colts now have a solid LB corp, one clogger in the middle with Simon, and that allows Freeney to wreak havoc on the opposing Tackle. The same thing in Philly with Kearse. I am not saying that Lavar is Kearse or Freeney but these guys use their speed and athletic ability to get to the QB and it is working. And let's not talk about our friends up I-95 and what they are doing with Suggs.
If the LB Corp is so good that Lavar can't even "sniff" the field, then try him a DE. If they are so concerned about him "freelancing", then put him at DE where he can't really hurt us by not being in the wrong spot or coverage. He'd be rushing up the field, so let the rest of your "disciplined" and "scheme" players do their job. Plus, Lavar at DE will cause opponents to game plan to stop him because of his speed and "ball-hawk" ability.
Someone in an earlier post listed his 2000-2003 statistics that included a bunch of sacks and turnovers. Joe Gibbs wants the defense to create turnovers, then play Lavar at DE and let him create them.....

redskingush wrote:My thoughts on the situation is Lavar is to good to be sitting there on the bench, and not even see the field. We still have 2 week to the deadline and wheather he's here or not after that my guess is that he will wind up in Cincinnati with Marvin Lewis, they do have alot of money to spend. On the downside of this if he gets granted free agency next June and if he decides to go back home to Pensilvania, there is a possibillity he winds up in Philly. Now I say use him and make him stay here, I definatly would not like to face him twice a year.
If Lavar ends up in Philly or Cincy, Jimmie Johnson or Marvin Lewis will make him a star. Even though Marvin has called Lavar the "most undisciplined player" he has ever coached, he was smart enough to find a way to use him and Lavar got 11 or 12 sacks and went to the Pro Bowl. Johnson up in Philly will find a way to use him some how to take advantage of his "big play" ability.
Greg Williams and Joe Gibbs have made their point, we, the fans get it. Now put him at DE and let him wreak havoc...

If nothing else it's hard for me to "buy in" to the fact that Lavar can't be put in on third and long to chase the QB??
From the lips of GW "I'm a better coach when Lavar Arrington is on the field"
From the lips of GW "I'm a better coach when Lavar Arrington is on the field"
"Sean Taylor is hands down the best athlete I've ever coached it's not even close" Gregg Williams 2005 Mini-Camp
I need to bump this to the back of the list so people will see it. I think based on the comments made yesterday on THN chat with Bram..ie..( I'd really like to know who is in charge of this team, Snyder, Gibbs or Vinnie C.)it really casts light on my thoughts below. Also, the comment made by G Williams that a lister brought up a page or two back about Williams statement "All these people casting Lavar off are going to eat their words. He's motivated to prove them wrong." seems to point that G Williams did intitially plan on using Lavar this season.
The situation is just ridiculous and there is some real power moves going on here, not just "schemes".
It's also a real shame that one of the best defensive players we have is riding the bench. Lavar has done tremendous things for this team throughout the years he has been here and it's really telling how so many of the blind faithful here have turned on him. To me it all points to the head office, it reeks of personal ego and the fans should expect some answers.
Some poster here said a really lame thing about the situation, something like "respect is given when it's earned" ! I think Lavar has earned the respect of many fans, coaches , and players throughout his career here and to say he doesn't deserve any respect is ludacris.

C'mon, man, that's a low blow.
If anyone should hold a "grudge" against Lavar, it's the man he disrespects whenever he airs his dirty laundry on the radio or in print: Joe Jackson Gibbs.
But, this is certainly not a decision based on a grudge, but on an evaluation made in practice. PLain as that. Ther e is no conspiracy out there. No, Snyder is not threatening to send Lavar a Big Screen TV, or anything like that.
This is Joe's team. Period.
To suggest that Danny's running the show, shows that you have not been paying close attantion to the restructuring that has gone on since Gibbs arrived.
Oh, I certainly have been paying attention to the restructuring since Gibbs arrived and for the most part have relished tha fact that Danny boy has accepted that he is no football coach. My point is this: based on previous dealings with players ( as you referenced the big screen) I DO NOT put it past Dan to make a decision such as this with a player that personally pisses him off as I am sure the contract dispute with Arrignton did. when it comes to $$ Danny boy is probably as shrewed as it gets. Billionares don't like it when people start messing with their money, even if it's chump change to them. why? Money is not just money, it's power, and Dan has proven time and again that power plays are his forte'....just some food for thought.
I could be WAY off base here but i was thinking about it so I threw it out there, it does have some warrant to the discussion I think! I am just exploring all options, b/c really none of them make sense at this point.

If Snyder was behind this, wouldn't we assume that it is his plan to trade him in the offseason?
But if the ultimate goal is to get rid of LaVar, wouldn't it be easier to do that if he has been playing and showing other teas that he can still play? Why not help or team now and help Arrington's trade value for the offseason?
I don't think it is Snyder, and I don't think LaVar is hurt. If LaVar was hurt, why wouldn't the Redskins just say that so the media would stop wondering about it?
LaVar must have done, or not done, something to piss off the coaching staff.

The reason LaVar isn't playing is because he hasn't been healthy long enough to take the spot from Holdman. He must prove he can perform and stay healthy in practice and in limited time in the games before he is the starter again. Just be patient he will be making plays for us once the coaches feel comfortable playing him more.
