Brunell gets mine. He led the offense all day long and put in his best performance to date as a Redskin... arguably the best all around performance by either QB since MB got here.
On defense, I give it to Carlos Rogers. Lemar Marshall likely deserves it as much or more but I was pretty excited to see the rookie fill in well AND make some good plays in run support.
Smoot may have 'improved his blocking' in his tenure here, but he never offered the run support that Rogers is already providing. A skill that is HUGE in GW's defense. The rook got burned a couple of times but for the most part, he was solid in his debut as a starter.
Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.
I give it to Brunell on Offense. I think he showed true leadership and played the way Gibbs envisioned when he brought him here. I think it was his best game overall, and more importantly, allowed for us to control the time of possesion, which kept our defense fresh.
On Defense, I've gotta give it to Sean Springs. I think he made some critical plays at the right time yesterday. I think he really stepped up!
Novak on ST, no doubt. Calm, cool, and collected. And, to do it once, only to have to do it again as the result of a penalty, showed guts. Kudos to him!!
OFFENSE ...would have to be mark brunell hands down !!!!
DEFENSE .... hate to sound like a tape recorder but rogers for the run support and tackling he has shown not to be scared to hit and wrap up !!! also springs playe a solid game too,and lamar marshall has filled in nicely at MLB !!
I don't know. Brunell played very well. And Moss made some big catches, and ran good routes. I'm 50/50 for the two of them. Betts made a couple of key runs too, which impressed me, expecially considering he's our #2 back.
I'm also torn on Defense. Rodgers played well, especially for a rookie. He got beat on a few plays, but he also came up with a few key stops. Marshall played well, Washington made some nice tackles, and it was good to see Springs step it up against his old team.
Overall, the team played like a team yesterday. Everyone worked well together, we eliminated a lot of penalties, and our ball control was very nice (time of possession )
Offense - I'm gonna have to say it....Brunnell. That scramble he did in overtime was crazy. I took my eye off the play for one second and when I look back I see this guy flying down the middle of the field. I thought it was a wide reciever until I saw Brunnell stand up.
Defense - I'd have to say Sean Taylor. It looked like he hurt his arm in the first quarter and he kept playing through it. He also made a touchdown saving tackle on Alexander.

On Defense I'd have to give it to Sean Springs. Although what he did was not as visable on t.v you could really see him picking up some of their plays and passing the info on to his teammates. Wasn't working the whole game but he was trying.
On offense Brunnell. I hate saying it and I know Redeemed will likely hold it against me but he just looked good on his feet, better then anyone expected him to.

The interception was a tipped ball, even the announcers were saying that couldn't be counted against Brunnell. It happens. His overall performance was stellar. (Ugh someone keep Redeemed out of this thread)

I disagree for the following reason. Too many times did Brunell have to run for his life because he was swarmed by Seahwaks defenders.
Fortunately, he did the right thing and threw the ball awya, instead of taking the sack, but the o-line looked a bit iffy, especially if you consider how anemic our rushing attack has been. There is certainly room for improvement there, IMO.
novak cause he made the kick to win the game but a couple more game balls will go out to carlos rogers for stepping up when he came in.joe gibbs gets one for giving this team some direction.santana moss gets another game ball as well.thrash gets one too.

i watched the replay, and the ball was horribly thrown. portis had to dive just to get a hand on it. brunell's only bad ball of the game. otherwise, he played very well.

Yes, it was a poorly thrown ball. Not his best decision of the day. But then again, Clinton isn't the surest-handed receiver, either.

I haven't looked at the replay closely so Im going from memory here.
I disagree in that it wasn't totally Brunells fault. Brunell did the smart thing by throwing away from the coverage that was tight on Portis butt. If he threw it right at Portis it would have been batted down are intercepted still.
I believe the most of the blame may fall on Portis for not catching the pass, it hit his hands and was very catchable.
I believe that some of the blame just falls on familiarity with the QB and his receivers.

I understand that he had to dive for the ball but wasn't there a defender right beside Portis? If Brunell didn't lead the ball away from the defender it could have been picked just as easily. Brunell gave Portis a chance to be the star that he is and make the circus catch, thats the trust he has in his players.
Santana Moss gets my game ball. How many times did he convert on 3rd down.? He also brings such and energy and swagger to the table that we desperately need on offense.

The best performance from a Redskin QB in a long, long time.
Offense-Brunell Moss is fantastic, but it just doesn't matter if the QB fails to execute.
Defense-Probably Marshall, I think it was a real solid day for him. The sack was big. I was also very happy with the way Carlos Rogers held up. Springs was his usual self, what a great pick-up. The second half collapse is reason for concern. No pass rush. None. None.
