~Redskins Franchise!~

Post by Chris Luva Luva »

Ok guys, I’ve been dwelling on whether or not I was going to do this or not so here it is.

I’m starting a Redskins franchise in Madden and that’s nothing new. What I have in store hasn’t been done here before and I only need you guys to participate by posting. I’ll probably only keep this up if you guys show interest.

I’ll be pumping out articles on notable events that happen in the franchise. They won’t be long and elaborate because its all make believe but they will be interesting nonetheless. Jake will be throwing in his great writing skills into the mix as much as he possibly can. Look out for this thread because I will post the 1st article on the off season moves for the 2005 season shortly. I hope you guys enjoy this.

Ah, one more thing! I’m not trying to box you guys in with your participation but I envisioned this as being some like a Hogs.net inside of a Hogs. net. This thread would allow everyone to be his or her stereotypical selves. You can yell at me for poor coaching decisions, wins, losses, etc. Of course when Jakes does the interviews you’ll see some of your points asked in them.

I hope you guys enjoy this, we'll be working very hard to make this enjoyable for you all. Forgive us while we iron out any kinks that may crop up.

Redskin’s owner Daniel Snyder bit the bullet today and hired a GM hand picked by Joe Gibbs himself. Christopher Allen has 13 years of being a sofa coach; he’s more than qualified to fulfill this position. On his 1st day as GM he made several moves that may cause some turmoil amongst the Redskins fan base. The quote making headlines nationwide is as follows; “In this game you need certain tools to win and even then you’re opponent has an unfair almost ESP type of effect on you. I’m not here to make friends, I’m here to give coach the tools he needs to right this ship at a price that will not be detrimental to the FUTURE of this team!” It is a new era in DC.

Off season Shaking and Baking

- Koren Robinson - F/A - 4 years $112.84 M, $5M signing bonus.
Image

GM Allen: Koren has made some mistakes in the past but has definitely shown us that he is ready to turn his life around. This contract is lucrative for Koren while allowing us to feel safe at the same time. This guy is a great ball player and has picked up the offense pretty well. We’re definitely in need of someone with his height in this game.

- Mark Brunell to the Chiefs for a 3rd pick.
Image

GM Allen: Mark has been a trooper during his short tenure as a Redskin. He gave us his all but we mutually felt that it was time for him to go. He wasn’t going to get any starting time and he didn’t want to end his career on the bench. We’re planning ahead and our team isn’t getting any younger. We’re going to do our best to draft for the future; this pick will give us that ability.

- Ricky Ray – UFA – 1 year $560K, $70k bonus.

GM Allen: Ricky has tons of potential and was brought in to give us a 3rd healthy QB. Hopefully he’ll get a grasp of things and if need be play well for us.

- Jimoh has been released.
Image

GW: We thank Jimoh for his effort.

- Portis has been named the Team Captain.
Image
Coach Gibbs: Portis has been here during the entire off-season and has been terrific. He has a hunger and intensity that wasn’t there last year.

- David Patten and Ladell Betts have been traded to the Giants for Brandon Jacobs.
Image
Image
GM Allen: (laughs) David and Ladell were great players for us but we’re going in a different direction this year. David wanted some playing time before he retired and Betts simply didn’t fit into the mold that we’re looking for on offense. We have a little bit of lightning with Portis and now we have a clap of thunder with Brandon. Goal line and short yardage conversions will be commonplace with him in our backfield.

If you can get the Chiefs to give a 3rd round pick for Brunell, I'll make you GM of the real team...

I think this is a great idea, and a cool format, but does it belong in Hog Wash?

I think this should be a sticky in the lounge. Just my two cents.

I have to agree I think you overpayed for Robinson. Patten was good enough as a second receiver now your gonna end up hurting in the salary cap.

I didn't read the first post, but when I scrolled down I knew that this had to be a fantasy team because Ade Jimoh got cut!

Good idea, CLL. It will give us something more to talk about so that people aren't at each other's necks quite so much. . .and if disagreements get bad than we can actually say "it's only a game" and mean it(!).

I figured that it could float in Hogwash because its Redskins related. My 2 cents

It'll be corrected if its indeed a problem.

Previous Post: Off-season Shaking and Baking

Training Camp Standouts

Coach Gibbs: I have plenty of good things to say about our guys today. 1st let me explain my ranking system. Every player is rated out of 100 points, different things like catching ability; speed and awareness make up these 100 points. 1 speed point doesn’t necessarily = 1 general point out of 100, if a player improves upon his speed and gains 2 points in that category it may not push up his overall rating at all. I’ll field questions later on for clarification.

Taylor Jacobs put on impressive show during camp. He improved himself from a 76 to a 78 in his general rating by working on his hands all mini camp long! He’s definitely coming out of his shell and showing why we drafted him.

Brandon Jacobs is a bruiser guys (chuckles), defender better make way. He refuses to take punishment, he delivers it.

Carlos Rogers what can I say about this guy? Actually I wont say anything, I’ll let Gregg speak.

Gregg Williams: (beaming into the camera) what more can I say?

Gibbs: There you have it, he jumped from an 80 to an 82. He worked on his awareness, look for him to snag some INTs!

Chris Clemons hopefully will blossom for us and allow us to use more of our in-house talent. We’re definitely trying to build up these younger guys in an effort to get our CAP situation under control. You’ll see a lot of him and others during the preseason and at the end of regular season games. Chris made a huge jump from a 72-75, if we can continue this progress up till this time next year, I can’t see why he can’t be in the 80’s.

Jason Campbell….(Gibbs cant stop smiling, Gregg interjects)

Gregg: (points over at defense looking exhausted) what more can I say?

Gibbs: (finally stops smiling long enough to speak) Jason made our biggest improvement over the spring months and jumped up 5 points. Was it throwing power? Was it accuracy? No, it was the most important stat of them all, awareness. What’s the use of a big cannon if you can’t make the reads…<cough> <cough> (Patrick Ramsey walks behind Gibbs)

**A Q&A session will take place with the GM in the near future. At the end of your post please place the ONE question we're allowing there with an asterisk beside it.

Hey GM!

*Q: WHAT ARE YOU DOING!! Giving a drunk a bigger contract than Peyton. Trading two sturdy veterans for a rookie. And naming someon from The U team captain!

But I do like how you cut Jimoh.

You are fired!

No, you are not but who is he going to play with him after you spend most of the payrol?

Ah! He is going to play QB and receiver on offense. And LT and CB on defense, Right?

Official Redskins Press Release

**** There was a mistake in the signing of Koren Robinson. He was signed for $12.84M instead of the reported $112.84M.

But his agents, the Poston brothers, are arguing that he was cheated in the amount of $100 million!

In a press interview his agent said:

No, I did not read every page of the contract. In fact, I did not even check the name on the contract. But the Skins Press release speaks volumes about the bad faith of this organization. They cheated my client!

I am in LA so that I can participate late...

All of this off-field trouble may spell out some on-field difficulties. Getting cheated out of 100 million dollars is a pretty big deal! I hope that the Skins front office has a good story / backup plan to cover their butts on this one. . .

OFFICIAL REDSKINS PRESS RELEASE

There have been murmurings from the Peter Kings and Pasta Bellies that Koren has been cheated out of millions of dollars. GM Christopher Allen was available for comment and when asked about the issue he had this to say; "Our organization has already addressed this issue. It was a simple typo in the press release, Koren never expected to make anymore money than what we agreed upon which is a little over $12M."

Stayed tuned for more Redskins updates in the coming day. Preason has begun!

Madden starts out with no cap penalties.

Trade Ramsey for Fabian Washington as a nickel back. Use the 2-4-5(nickel) , and blitz Fabian every time. I think its called ray blitz or something. Works every time.

Also, before the trade deadline, trade your draft picks for the worst team in the leagues picks. I don't know why they do this but You can get 2 top five picks and win the super bowl every week.

Oh and if you have NCAA 06, import draft class, and draft Vince Young.
