ESPN / CBS / SI / etc. Power Rankings
In the new ESPN power rankings we are behind Dallas which I expected. But, there is a option to rank them yourself and it has the Redskins record at 1-1. They must have thought that we already lost the game to the Cowboys and put in 1-1. Those incompetent idiots. Still no respect I see, oh well.

I wonder if the Niners fans acted the same way Dallas fans did after we beat them....
ON A RELATED NOTE (true story): I was watching the Pats/Stillers game, and along the bottom of the screen, the score tracker read Dallas 19 SF 31 with 1:51 left in the 4th. So, what did I decide to do?
I called a cousin of mine in California to congratulate him on his team poleaxing the dreaded Girls. He said he'd stopped watching the game cause he had to run an errand or something, and he was gushing about how his team was pounding the Girls.
I told him we had softened them up, so they could take them down.
And then at 6:00 AM ET on Monday morning I hear about Dallas' comeback, and all of a sudden, I felt kinda what the Pukes fans' felt upon hearing about their loss vs. the Skins.
I still haven't heard back from my cousin, and, yes, I've already called him to beg for forgiveness for jinxing his team.

BTW - I saw the ESPN rankings, and we did mov eup a spot. However, I thought it was interesting to see the "criticism" of the Colts, whose offense is having less succes than our Skins. Funny how no one mentions that the game has "passed Dungy by".

Back and better than ever!
I was watching NFL Live and on the ticker across the bottom they were recapping what was going on in each division. They went through Dallas, NY (some stat about Eli's passer rating), Phi (McNabb's injuries), and then Washington. And what did it say...
"One of only four undefeated teams in the NFL"!
Boy did that make me feel good! Finally a little recognition!

CBS's Pete Prisco has us at #9 this week.

The Giants are lowest in the NFC East at #14. The division has come back to respectability.

Power Rankings after week 3!!!!!
ON CBSsportsline.com we are ranked 9....and on ESPN.com we are ranked 15...I find this amazing....i knew that ESPN wouldn't give us much love because they are ignorant, but to make it in the top ten in a power ranking is awesome....
I must be seeing double! I thought there was something already about this - just a crazy week!

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
There was something posted like this last week, and the other day was Espn but this is sportsline and last week we were not number 9, we moved up! oh yeahhhhh. Number 9! Come on SKINS let's get our respect and beat the seahawks!

We just BEAT the cowboys. How can we be two spots lower than them with a better record? Irritating.

ESPN would have us easily in their top ten, maybe even top 7 or 8, if we had played this week and won.
They might be ignorant, but they won't ignore a good record. During one of Spurrier's years we went 3-1, and they had us in the teens until that point, finally putting us up higher (I think we hit 8th).
Of course, their gut feeling about the Skins that year was correct, as we proceeded to lose most of the rest of the year and ended up at a paltry 7-9 (or was that the 5-11 year even?).
They're just being cautious and trusting in their pre-season rankings more than they are a 4 minute miracle comeback against the Cowboys. If we keep winning, they'll no doubt be kissing Joe Gibbs' butt soon enough.
I say, let the butt-kissing commence. I'd rather read articles in praise of the Skins and think its trash than all of the negative stuff (that I think is trash), which we've been subjected to for the last 10 years.

Up four spots after the bye. What gives? Only that I got a late look at their Cowboys victory and it was very impressive and I'm ashamed that it took me so long to tune in. (As poor Uncle Don said in his famous final show for WEAF Radio about 65 years ago, "That ought to hold the little b- - - - - - s," and he wasn't talking about his e-mailers.)

New SI Power Ranking

Rank 14
Last week 18
Reason:
I guess someone is at least half way paying attention.
If your team got wasted in this column, please, no nasty e-mails. I feel worse about it than you do. Hold off for a week. I will straighten it out in a subsequent opus, as the folks in the D.C. area will learn, in a shocking surprise move guaranteed to quicken their senses.

Peter King doesn't even have us in his top 15, but he has Dallas at #10.

Those Sagarin ratings are really fascinating, given that he's not just basing it off how he feels.
For instance, NYG are ranked really low, even below the Ravens. But who knows? He might have the most accurate ratings of everyone.

According to Sagarin, the G-spots have the easiest schedule in the NFL, at this point.

FoxSports has the Skins ranked 19th
This stuff never ceases to amaze me:

They use a model that takes into account who they have played this season and how they did at the end of last season. I believe that it also uses modifiers based on wind direction, temperature and humidity. There is also a variable for how well the author of this ranking is lactating that day.
Four 1-2 teams are ranked higher than us. Oh yeah, and our defensive rank is #9.
