This trade would be genius for denver since they'd simply plug Quentin Griffin in at RB and make him great. Portis is a top 3 RB and will soon be, i think, the best back in the league. This is one player i actually wouldn't mind trading Bailey for. Just as long as smoot wasn't our #1 or we drafted our future #1 like Gamble, Poole or Hall.

As you know I am firmly against getting rid of Champion Bailey, but this is one scenario I would deal him in. We would absolutely have to get another corner, as hail2daRedskins said, but I would take that risk to get a potential 2000 yard back. Especially when you consider the fact that Gibbs will give him about 30 touches a game...

Not too much.

There is something cooking at Redskin Park.
It is not even March yet.

If Ramsey keeps demanding a trade the Skins just might regain more picks and then grab another young QB in the draft.

The way this offseason is going it would not surprise me.
Gibbs hiring was a secret.
Brunell trade was a secret.
Bailey trade/Portis trade was a secret.
Ramsey trade a secret?

Gibbs know how the media is these days. He is not leaking anything. A lot can happen between now and April 25.

Portis is the real deal, if he stays healthy. Plus we have Betts to back him up. Funny how Portis and Betts were taken in the same round AND THERE IS SUCH A HUGE DIFFERENCE.

Honestly, I think if the Skins give the Broncos the 2nd round pick the Broncos should at least give us their 3rd rounder.

I said the Portis offer was too much and then Oaf, you stated: Not too much. Then you summed up by saying you thought Denver should throw in a 3rd. You've gotta knock off the sauce man, you're confusing me...

Yeah Wysocki...I tend to do that.

I would be cool with a Portis for Bailey and the 2nd...BUT, it would be better if it was Portis and a 3rd for Bailey and a 2nd.

Either way, make Portis a Redskin!

Broncos | Portis to Be Traded for Bailey? - from www.KFFL.com
Mon, 23 Feb 2004 07:58:59 -0800

Adam Schefter, of the Denver Post, reports the Denver Broncos and Washington Redskins are closing in on a trade that would send Broncos RB Clinton Portis to the Washington Redskins for CB Champ Bailey. In addition to Bailey, the Broncos are also asking for the Redskins second-round draft choice in this year's draft. So far, the Redskins have balked at surrendering the draft choice and no agreement has been announced. If a trade is completed, Bailey would need to be signed to a lucrative contract, too.

If you have a chance to get CLinton Portis....Do it..have it done 5 minutes ago...This kid is legit...I know, every RB from denver is legit because of their O-Line....But portis is amazing...the kid can flat out run the footy....

straight up tades never go down in the NFL....this is a huge deal...you shoud package that 2nd round pick and just be done with the whole champ situation...

nice "stalling" technique - here, while you were gone I bought the round. Who's the guy dressed in green sitting on that guy' shoulders?

I think so too, I think us giving them a 2nd rounder and us not getting anything back is utterly ridiculous. Both are top flight players. Plus: Bailey has the big-name recognition/pro bowls, Denver can pull a RB out of the stands if they need to, and Denver wouldnt be offering us much cap relief, rather, we'd be taking a player off their hands who wants a big money contract. Getting Portis would save us money the 1st year or two, then he'll be making as much as Champ.

Maybe the Broncos know this is probably the best offer we can get for Bailey.
