Seahawks

Post by fredp45 »

I don't know a lot about the Seahawks, here's what I do know...

QB Hasselbeck - good, not scary good. Backups are Seneca Wallace & David Greene...not household names, definetly not in my house anyway.

RB Alexander - very good back. Backups are Maurice Morris & Josh Scobey...who are these guys?

FB Strong - like a "mack" truck, seriously - one tough guy.

WR's - Darrell Jackson, Bobby Engram, Peter Warrick and Joe J. - okay, but certainly not a group that scares me.

OL - Left side is top notch with LG Steve Hutchinson (we almost drafted this guy and should have) and LT Walter Jones. We're talking as good as it gets here. I don't know their C Robbie Tobeck, their RG Chris Gray or their RT Sean Locklear. All of their backups are not familar to me.

DL - DEs are Bryce Fisher & Grant Wistrom - never heard of Fisher. Of course, I've heard of Winstrom but not that familar with his game, but know he was overpaid a few years back, hurt all of last year. DTs are Chartric Darby & Marcus Tubbs -- don't know anything about Darby but think Tubbs is a good player... Subs are no names to me.

LBs - Starters are D. D. Lewis, Lofa Tatupu & Jamie Shrper. I know Sharper played at VA 10 years back, Lofa Tatupu is the rookie from USC. DD - you got me. Subs are Leroy Hill, Isaiah Kacyvenski, Niko Koutouvides, Kevin Bentley -- 2 of them have NHL last names!

DBs - CBs are Andre Dyson & Marcus Trufant- good pair of corners. Ss are Ken Hamlin & Michael Boulware - again, good safeties. No name backups.

K and P - who cares?

Holmgren is a good coach...

Am I really really impressed with the players on this team? NO, not at all - but I must say, I don't follow them that closely. What do others know...and think? Thanks for any feedback you can give...

I know that Sean Locklear played at NC State and he protected Phillip Rivers for 4 years. He is good.

Lofu Tutupu, one of the LB's is very good. He's a hard hitting lb who isn't afraid to take your head off. Like Sean Taylor.

Seattle may be the most gutless team in the NFL. Hit them in the mouth and they will fold.

I love the fact that we are coming off a bye, coming off our most emotional win in YEARS and are going to be at home in front of what should be (what better be!!) a rowdy crowd. We will get this win and be 3-0 before going on that brutal AFC West swing.

I now that offensivly this team can roll all over anybody, but their defence is questionable at best, they do turn the ball over in the passing game often, alexander thought rarely fumbles. Redskins 21 Seahawks 13

Am I remembering wrong, or did Seattle's Defense have a strong performance earlier in the season last year? Weren't they leading forced turnovers for a while?

their defense blows goats. ray rhodes was the guy who didn't blitz spurrier even though the book had been written that blitzing = victory against the fun 'n' gun. and guess what? one of the only games we won that year.

as for the score,

Redskins 5
Seattle 3

I think that people here are underrating the Seahawks. For starters, they have a running back in Sean Alexander who is right up there with Tomlinson as one of the best backs in the NFL. Secondly, the Seahawks just beat the Atalanta Falcons, the same Falcons team that beat the Eagles in week one. This team is capable of putting up points in a hurry and they have a very aggressive D that ranked among the leaders in takeaways last year. And we all know how much our qb's like turning the ball over. That being said, I think that we'll win but it will be a close game and if all we can muster is 14 points then we will most likely lose.

Just cause they dont have household names should not mean you dismiss them. I refuse to look past any team we play, cause anything can happy on any Given Sunday or Monday in our case.

Most of the games the Redskins play this season will play like this: Either team tht scores 17 points will win. Thats what comes with a Top-5 Defense and a conservative offense.

The thing that makes me sorta nervous is Alexander. He is a great combination of speed and a lot of weight. He also has a good pair of hands. But, knowing the Skins' defense, this shouldn't be an issue.

i watched a good portion of a 'hawks loss to jacksonville, and while i agree that alexander is a very good back, he didn't seem to run with much authority, as if he was just going through the motions. i don't think his heart is in it.

do i really have to wait another week and a half for this game?!?

The Seahawks will score some points, but I have a feeling this is the game where the blitz packages return in full force. We haven't shown a whole lot of blitz so far this season so there is not a great deal of film to study. GW says we have a few new packages, maybe we see them this game. Holmgren, Alexander, Hasselbeck and a pretty solid defense. Tough Game. Seahawks seem to struggle on the road and our crowd should be up for this one.

Seahawks-23
Redskins-27 Yeah, 27

3-0 and alone at the top of the NFC East/Giants lose this weekend. Pretty Cool, huh?

The Seahawks are a little under-rated this year. They were grossly over-rated last year (popular SB pick) and I think that left alot of people wary of them.

But they are a good team. One of the best O-lines in the league, IMO. They've been drafting O-line high recently and should be good to go there for awhile. They have a RB friendly system, and a good running back as well.

Holmgren has groomed Hasselbeck into a pretty good quarterback. Very mobile, but looks to throw. Usually accurate, usually makes good decisions. Struggles in the red-zone.

From what I've seen this year, their WRs are alot more consistent. Engram was always kind of their "clutch" guy (except in the playoffs last year) - he's a good 3rd down type. Jurevicous seems to be working out well for them, and they are giving him lots of looks.

Their defense is talented but IMO suffers from a bad scheme. I went on about this in another thread - I don't like Rhodes as a DC.

The Seahamks have a solid team on D, but Rhodes coaching is very much a Read and React D. They are able to get turnovers by the talent of the back field, not because of the scheme. I think that our offense will match up well with thier D, but don't underestimate thier players abilities to make a big play.

Thier offense has loads of talent, but is streaky and doesn't seem to have a lot of heart.

The key to this game will be our ability to stop and establish the run.

you must have meant 'the hoggies' folder. fun to look at, but not quite as enjoyable as the 'hawks version.
