2-0? Off to a good start.
Ok, the redskins are 2-0 now and the teams they beat aren't really recognized as good in the nfl. My question is, with the redskins remaining schedule and playing the eagles twice, do they have a shot for the playoffs?

We've already got a great start. 2-0 in the league, 1-0 in our division. I think if we beat Dallas twice, split with the G-men, and split with the Iggles, we have a great shot. It'll be interesting to see if NY can keep up their run, and it will also be important to follow what Philthy does.
But I think, with the way the rest of our schedule plays out, and with our 2-0 start, we've got a good chance to go 9-7 or 10-6; which should put us in the playoffs.
Either way, we have started the season exactly how we needed to - with 2 Ws.

We are 2-0, And playing Seattle in two weeks, I think we have a real chance of winning that game, And its possible that in the NFC this season you might get in the playoffs with 8 wins, So yes, I like our chances for the playoffs this season

Hail To The Redskins!

If we do, that puts us at 3-0 and last time we started like that was 1991redskindave wrote:We are 2-0, And playing Seattle in two weeks, I think we have a real chance of winning that game, And its possible that in the NFC this season you might get in the playoffs with 8 wins, So yes, I like our chances for the playoffs this season

The defense is special. We should make the playoffs if Brunell can connect on few more deep routes.redskindave wrote:3-0 would be awesome, and another 1991 season would be tooBut being realistic, I will just be happy with a winning season and making the playoffs..

I live in AZ -- the Cardinals are faaaaar from OK. They make ridiculous mistakes and can't seem to understand the fundamentals. Denny Green is in for a long season.

Ah yes, '91 was excellent. If we can take it one game at a time and quit turing over the ball, we could be looking at a 10-6 or 11-5 season.
I mean, look at the Chargers and Raiders -- both of whom on our schedule this year and both 0-2.

Way too early to tell. We have lots of very good teams left to play. Seattle is by no means a guaranteed win. Let's not forget that Brunell's best game last year was against that team from texas, and he looked less than average for most of the game Monday night. We need to hope that everyone heals and rests over the next two weeks to be prepared for Seattle. Maybe I'm too pessimistic, but I ended up eating crow after talking playoffs last year when we beat Tampa in the first game. Plus, I'm so happy we ripped out Dallas' heart Monday night that I'm not even thinking playoffs right now.

Here's the thing... Seattle travels about as well as fine wine. They are a good team and they'll provide us our second straight solid test of the season, but assuming we play our game defensively we're going to have a chance. Everthing Hasselbeck does starts with Shaun Alexander, as stopping the run is the first step towrads stopping their offense.
There's no reason to believe that we can't beat a terrible road team with two weeks of preparation. Three games later we've got the San Francisco 49ers, the kind of game you have to win or you have no business even talking playoffs. That means if we find a way to beat the Chiefs or Broncos on the road, both doable but very tough, we could easilly find our boy 4-1 through five games. The Giants and Eagles would follow, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.
Seattle is next. We've got two weeks to watch, two weeks to scout. You'd better believe Gregg Williams will have a gameplan ready for their feathers come October 2nd. Whether or not our offense will finally snap out of a year-plus long drought is another story, and one that I'll be intrigued to see develop.

I agree. They are not playing well at all. The have a HUGE hole on the O-line at Center...not a good place to have a hole, especially with a QB who is not very mobile. Arizona has a few studs at WR, that's the most worrisome part of their team. Otherwise, they are not very good. Did you see their home opener...the stadium was half empty. Should be like a home game for us on Dec. 11th.
Back on topic. We are off to a great start. We've beat some pretty solid teams. I expect both to be around in the playoff hunt. We should be able to get at least 3 more division wins...that's five wins. Arizona, San Fran., Seattle and Oakland are all games that look good for us. That's 9 wins. I'm not convinced Denver is that good and the game is in Denver, but, we beat them there just a few years ago. Things look good when we are 2-0. Let's hope we don't have a let down thinking we are better than we are. We still need to continue with the strong work ethic we've had all offseason and into the season. Gibbs and the character of the players we have on this team will make sure we keep at it.
Hail Victory!!
Beat Dallas!!!

All the Redskins need to do is go 7-7 from here on out and they will make the playoffs. Not only do they have a good chance to do it I think we will do it.
As long as we beat the:
49ers
Giants atleast once
Buccaneers
Raiders
Rams
Cardinals
and
Cowboys again
If we just beat those teams we will make the playoffs and I am sure that we can win another game on the schedule but these jump out as the seven games we are most likely to pull out.

Beat the Cowboys!!
What with the parity in the NFL these days, and the talent I think the 'skins have, I believe this team has the ability to beat any team in the league. It's just going to take some improvement in the passing game and the correction of some mental errors (12 penalties against Dallas? Can't have that every week.) in order for this team to make a major turn-around from last year's 6-10. The defense looks just as sharp as last year, and I still believe in Portis as an elite RB, but the passing game is going to have to take it up a notch to force other teams to respect the deep ball and not just play everyone short, stuffing the run. If Brunell gets some accuracy back and develops timing with the WR's, and Gibbs works the long routes more, I think very good things will happen. The playoffs are right there, practically within the grasp. This team isn't the Cardinals.

I agree Mursilis. I think that our D is the best in the league. If our offense picks it up and is consistant then we will be unstoppable.
If you think our D is good now. Imagine what they will be like if our offense starts playing a bit. I think that they sometimes get discurraged b/c of our offenses lack of production.
Someone said, It's a one week season for 17 weeks. Or something like that but you get the point.
