Lavar's Status

Post by hkiss444 »

With all the excitement, several of us have a question.

What is the status of Lavar?

Has anyone heard if his knee is worse off then reported?
The announcers never mentioned it the whole game and the post game show never mentioned Lavar either. (unless we missed it in all the jumping around)

Sure miss his pass rush abilities.

I appreciate any news you can provide.

There is definately something going on with this situation that no one but the team knows about. Is his knee still not healed? Are they bringing him slowly back into it? Or is it that fact that Greg Williams has found that we can win without him?

I am guessing his knee is much worse then reported.

Lavar could have made a huge impact if only as a 3rd down pass rusher.

I think it has to do with discipline and buying into the system, as well as them making sure he is 100% back from this injury. If you recall, Lavar rushed back last year, got hurt, then blamed the team in the offseason for rushing him back (when during the season he said he pushed back too fast). So, I think it's a combination of making sure he's OK and being certain about him mentally as well.

I have a strong feeling we'll see him a lot more out of the gates after the bye week.
The opinion of 10,000 men is of no value if none of them know anything about the subject.

On the Radio Junkies show here in the D.C. area they were specualating that the Skins might be trying to faze out Lavar, and as soon as they can release him without taking a huge cap hit they will do it.

Again...these guys were just speculating so take it for what its worth and nothing more.

Arringtons come along ways, and besides earning back his spot, I believe the staff maybe taking every precaution neccessary. Playing on the turf could have something to do with him not playing. If any of you guys ever played Ball on the turf, it can get rough.

Thats just a speculation but im sure sooner or later we will see #56 unleashed..its only a matter. Enjoy the win everyone hail to the redskins.

Lavar made the tackle on the first play of the game and never saw him again.

I think it was the fact that on certain packages the boys were playing dirty ball and going for the knees.

I saw this happen to Marcus Washington and at one time almost took him out of the game.

Not real sure though.

Maybe Holdman is playing at a high level? Maybe last nights gameplan required discipline and GW is just a bit leary of Lavar in that regard? Maybe it is because it has been a long time since Lavar played much football? He obviously has not impressed the coaches in practices or he would be on the field more.

I think that Gregg is trying to give Lavar a chance to earn his old job back, and to work him up to football speed slowly. The fact that he hasn't taken his job back already leads me to believe that he isn't playing or practicing as well as he used to, or that he doesn't know the system as well as the guys that are in there now.

Ok, where are all the people to come in here and call everyone fairweather fans?

Maybe Arrington is just being worked in slowly after coming back from a major injury?

That's my feeling. Rushing him back last season did no good whatsoever. Patience, people. LaVar is a Redskin for life. He's needing some time to ease back into it. I saw a clip on Redskins.com where he was running off the field at the end of the game screaming.

I believe a lot of it has to do with the fact that GW didn't have too aggressive of a gameplan last night. They like Lavar to be our energy guy and rush the QB a lot and Greg's defense didn't call for that much last night. I do also think he is trying to work him back in slowly because of what happened last year and all. Greg Williams wants him to EARN his spot back.

I agree TC! I think we have a really good D in that we can afford to only see LaVar playing a bit role and we still are seeing some very good stats for our defense.
We will be a lot better with Greg finding more time for him in more packages.
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Something happened and Williams got extremely pissed off early. Not sure if it was because Arrington blew a play but I do recall Williams making a 'throat slashing' gesture and saw Arrington trott of the field.

After that I don't recall seeing LaVar back on the field.

Its going to take some time but at least he's out on the field. Knee injuries can linger, I tore a ligament and I felt effects of it for years even though I can play on it.

I have had 3 acl surgeries on my left knee. I still need another. Knee injury's linger and every operation you have decreases your chance of recovery.

I blew out my knee more than 10 years ago (ACL, MCL, menicus tears, etc), and I can still tell the difference. Of course, I'm not an athlete. I'm sure Lavar will be fine, in time.

Playing time for Lavar

Post by joeramse »

I was surprised to not see Lavar playing much. Is this correct, did anyone else notice that he was not on the field much? I'm not sure maybe he was out there playing I just didn't notice him. I thought I only saw him get about half a dozen plays. If I am correct, I wonder why? Maybe Williams wants to bring him back slowly or maybe they want him to win the position back...Last night, I only saw Arrington blitz once and he man handled the defender. I thought we could of sent him after Bledsoe more often.
Hail!
