The game versus the Cowgirls will depend almost entirely on the strenght of our defense. Right now those guys--not our offense--give us the best chance to win.
Past Monday nights in Dallas have been horrendous. Hell, I think the last MNF game we won in Big D was the Superbowl XXVI season, when both teams really opened up the passing game and bombed each other to exhaustion. Good game, that one.
It´s about time we beat these suckers. Now go get em 'Skins!

Portis didn't put up the numbers that he put up in Denver -- Are you saying he was a better back in Denver because he averaged 200 yards a season (13 yards a game) more there than in Washington? And should have had a better year?
Portis numbers were inflated due to Denvers system -- Does this mean Portis isn't a 1500 yard a season back and he won't be as productive in any other system?
Im going to have to dig up this arguement I had with another Sk9ins fan on a different Skins board--Im watching my 2 kids
Portis didnt do as well for a variet of reasons last year
Firstly, he now plays in the NFC East
The OL talent and personnel wasnt the same
The QB isnt aas good as the one in Denver
The Passing game isnt as good as the one in Denver
All the above added up to more carries, less yards and less TD's than he did in Denver--and then factor up what was given up for him along the contract..
And not much has changed cince last year...Portis will have success against teams like the Bears struggle against the run and struggle against mediocre/better teams vs the run
And considering the Cap Hell part II you are about to face entering next season...my condolences

you are uninformed. our offensive is different (better) this year. and gibbs has modified the running schemes for portis.
no, portis didn't put up the numbers he had in denver, but heh put up 1,300 yards. if julius jones puts up 1,300 this season, you won't be able to stop raving about what an incredible year he had, and how that proves he is an elite back. you can't have it both ways.

Parcells mentioned in his press conference yesterday that it looked like Gibbs was pulling a few pages out of Denvers run game==so thats all I care about
Not trying to have it both ways and to be honest I could care who the better back is--I could care less who puts up better numbers.
As of right now, Portis is proven
We just want to be 4-0 when we play Philly week 5, and the Skins are the 1st obstacle to that goal

OK that's 6 out of 16 games... it's not like he's facing the Skins defense.

Actually it's the OL blocking scheme that's been getting all of the credit, but you were close

What has Plummer EVER done? And that passing game was so good Champ was getting playing time and a guy like David Terrell was scooped up as soon as he hit the waiver wire.

He had more carries for less yards but he did what was asked of him... If Denver had produced a 1500 yard back last year this might hold a little water, but Portis (who you say had infalted stats due to whatever reason when he was in Denver) out rushed Denvers leading rusher last year. I skip the contract talk until you get the on the feild stuff down...

This is the type of post that is made by a post-er who gathers whatever info they can get their hands on and then starts pounding on the keyboard. Quite a bit has changed since last year in fact to much to list here you'll figure it out sooner or latter. Teams like the Bears were only giving up about 20 yards more a game than that team in Texas.

Yea I knew it... who ever is in your ear is a idiot.
1. There hasn't been a cap set for next year so how would you know who's in hell and whose not?
2. At this point the NFLPA could disolve and everybody would be a free agent -that would put everybody in cap hell or wipe the books clean.
3. Contract talk... my bad!...
Get something right next time

Skins run defense > cowboys run defense
Skins Passing Game < Cowboys passing game
Skins Pass Defense > Cowboys pass defense
you only have one edge, and our secondary will probably substantially dilute it. i don't doubt you will make some nice passing plays but you won't be chucking it up and down the field.
Julius Jones may be proving to be a "quite good" or even "very good" RB. but portis is an "elite" back, he's simply in a completely different category.
our run defense is the best in the league. jones will not reach 100 yards. portis will get 120. he will rip off at least one run of 25+ yards.
what about special teams
don't even

Thrash > every special teams player the cowpukes have.
In all seriousness, however:
Thrash on PR > Patrick Crayton
Thrash Career PR Stats: 30 Returns, 270 yards, 2 for 20+ yards.
Crayton Career PR Stats: 5 for 36 yards none over 20 yds.
Betts > Marion Barber on KR
Betts Career stats: 55/1302/2 for 40+ yds longest is 70 yds.
Barber career KR stats: 3 for 58 yds.
Kicking situation:
Jose Cortez v. Nick Novak
we win, its as simple as that. jose cortez was booed out of town here bc he failed miserably at his job. if novak can show why we wanted him to come in for hall, and why he was one of the best in the NCAA, we definitely have the edge.
Punters:
Groom has a monster leg, as we allknow, and in a controlled environment like that half dome in dallas, he will be able to capitalize on that. mat mcbriar is quite slow, but he has a huge leg. if we can force pressure like we hwere able to last season and also against the bears, we win that matchup as well.
to me, special teams are not a concern, as long as everyone does what they are supposed to and we get them in unmanagaable situations, such as down by their own goal line punting the ball away.
what do you all think?

Sean, may you always rest in peace and look down on us with the same love that we look up to you.
Hail to the Redskins!
Hail to the Redskins!
I think that as long as we don't let the Cowboys win before the game starts, and as long as we score more points than they do, we will win.
It's no gimme. Nothing is anymore.
That 13-10 still burns me. I'm completely rearranging my work schedule to watch every minute of this one.
