Gregg Williams knows how to destroy Bledsoe
i can't believe i haven't even thought about the fact that GW was bledsoe's coach for a couple years in buffalo! he must have intimate knowledge of all of bledsoe's weaknesses, and what the very best way to attack and exploit them are. having thought about this, i definitely think we will win now. thoughts?

Or Bledsoe knows how to read GW's blitzes. We will see come Monday, cause I want that win over Dallas.

i dunno. GW has different personnal here, and i think he's most likely adapted his schemes to fit the tools he currently has. not to say he's completely changed his philosophies, but they may be different enough to keep bledsoe on edge.

I didn't factor this in yet either. I'd say the advantage is def on our side due to the fact that it is much easier to mask/adjust your schemes as a coach then it is to un-learn tedencies at the QB position.
I'd love to say this will be the diference maker but prob not. This game will be decided on the ground and a handful of the short passing game.

if the game is decided on the ground, i think that works decidedly to our favor. there is just really no way they are going to be able to run much on us. i would say they definitely have the edge in the passing game (although our secondary is probably vastly superior to theirs). so who knows i guess. we'll see what happens.

Good point. I never thought about that.

GW is smarter than bledsoe. i think the fact that bledsoe is used to reading GWs blitzes will work to GW's advantage-- in that he will TRICK him. he'll set something up that he knows "bledsoe will think we're doing such and such" but in reality it does something else, and SMASH! bledsoe goes down, or throws a pick, etc.
GW has the advantage in that he can decide what to send at bledsoe. all bledsoe can do is react to it.

We'll see what happens, but i remember thinking the exact same thing with R. Grossman V.S. S. Spurrier.... that didnt turn out to well

i understand your point, but two problems i have there:
1. spurrier was the offensive coach, so wouldn't be as much into how to orchestrate a defense to beat him.
2. spurrier is a fool, whereas gregg williams is brilliant.

2 valid points. Especially the 2nd! I was kinda being a bit fecicious just because it seems every time some scub goes up against us he has the game of his life. Not saying Bledsoe is a scub, but you get my drift...

The Ground game is a wash...Portis has 33 carries for 126 yards against us last year--and had a long run of a whopping 13 yarder
Last week JJ outrushed LT and was running a top 3 run defense from last year
The same goes this week and his stats will in all likelyhood be in the 20 to 25 carries for 80-95 yard range
Tomlinson ran 19 times for 72 yards and a TD...and after early success running to our right side and taking advantage of Ware's inexperience LT was a non factor
I expect more of the same from the Skins and Portis this week
Portis 22-25 carries for 75 to 95 yards
Our OL is much improved over last year when you guys had a field day against us at times
we have 4 bonafide weapons and a Pro Bowl TE
I like our chances making plays against your D as opposed to vise versa
The turnover battle, ST play, field position decides this game

Its going to go both ways...
Williams knows Bledsoe and his tendencies and vice versa...
There will be wrinkles that have been added to gregg Williams D for us this week..
And Im sure Dallas has a few things up their sleeve too
Especially with a wildcard in Peerless Price in the fold
Patrick Crayton was a QB in college too
Lets see how you defence fares against a Vet QB with a good OL, a RB ready to break loose with a young, proven vet behind him, 4 deep @ WR and a Pro Bowl TE as opposed to a mid round rookie making his 1st start along with a journeyman RB, with a rookie who held our for almost all of training camp along with 1 legitimate target @ WR
Your D is good but this aint the teddy Bears

Great, we'll hold the Cowboys offense to 7, and our offense will score 3..........yippeee

I like your reasoning
HAIL
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
la73hof,
As if the fact that Marty is a crappy coach and didn't give the ball to his best offensive weapon enough doesn't necessarily indicated that we will have trouble running against your defense.
Just pointing out the obvious here...

Clinton Portis > Julius Jones
Skins O-Line > or = 'Boys O-Line (if you are correct in your boasts that your o-line is good this year- i'm taking your word for it)
Skins run defense > cowboys run defense
Skins Passing Game < Cowboys passing game
Skins Pass Defense > Cowboys pass defense
you only have one edge, and our secondary will probably substantially dilute it. i don't doubt you will make some nice passing plays but you won't be chucking it up and down the field.
Julius Jones may be proving to be a "quite good" or even "very good" RB. but portis is an "elite" back, he's simply in a completely different category.
our run defense is the best in the league. jones will not reach 100 yards. portis will get 120. he will rip off at least one run of 25+ yards.

I'd say we definitely have the edge in the running game IF Jansen can play at a high level with 2 broken thumbs. Julius is a good RB and may even prove to be elite, but I personally believe Portis is better and our OLine is better than the cowboys.
The cowboys passing game is obviously better than ours. Our defense is probably 1st or 2nd in the league this year. We will probably minimize Julius again, like we did last year. If we make Dallas one dimensional, I really like our chances to win this game.
I pretty much think it comes down to Brunell's play. Can he keep the cowboys from stacking the line? I'm hoping
he can. That's gonna decide the game.

Skewed arguement...you're not comparing how our Offense mathces up against your D and how your offense compares against our D
You guys are feeling awful good defensively against an off3nse that will rank in the 20's this year...
Portis was a good, not great back on your team last year but didnt put up the numbers he did in Denver
Portis is a very good back but his numbers were inflated due to Denvers system and the '02 and '03 defenses in the AFC West were deplorable
I'll be happy to provide a link to bolster that arguement
Portis to 120?

The best back in the league went 19 for 72
The numbers I provided dont lie..Portis averaged 62 yards a game against us last year and 3.8 per carry against and a long run of 13 yards
Our run defense is much, much improved even with the switch to the 3-4 with an inluux of seasoned and young talent
Brunnel will have some success between the 20's but thats as far is its going to go...Outside the Bears and a select other few, you may have a bottom 5 passing game
I love how we match up there
Outside of Springs @ CB, your'e CB's are either average (Harris) or young and inexperienced inexperienced (Rogers)
Taylor is a beast but he's only 1 guy
I think we handle your blitz much better than last year
You're gonna get hits and a couple of sacks against us but I like the match up of our WR's against your secondary

After their 1st TD when the Chargers ran at DeMarcus Ware effective, they did squat and thats why they quit running the ball..

Portis didn't put up the numbers that he put up in Denver -- Are you saying he was a better back in Denver because he averaged 200 yards a season (13 yards a game) more there than in Washington? And should have had a better year?
Portis numbers were inflated due to Denvers system -- Does this mean Portis isn't a 1500 yard a season back and he won't be as productive in any other system?

Even the Chargers said they should've run it more! I think you need to take of those blue and silver colored glasses for a minute, or you will be really disappointed. Did you see how well we ran againts Pittsburgh's first-string defense in the preseason? And they've been running the 3-4 for a while now...

Think your passing game is going to open stuff up for Portis?
Run Portis...all day--and then run him some more
THis aint the Bears sorry arse run D
Portis had 171 last year and 121 this year vs the Bears
And please...dont use anything from the preseason in an exchange
The PS is for evalation with very limited game planning
Roethlisberger was dismal in the PS and all he did was have a perfect passer rating last Sunday
And the Steelers ran at will with a 3rd string RB--even it was the Titans
