If Brunell gets us a Win, its all good

Post by totalpackage »

After reading post after post about Ramsey and Brunell. I think we can all safely admit that neither QB is going to take us to the promise land anytime soon. I had my hopes on Patrick, but lets face reality; its just not going to happen. I don't know why Brunell had such a horrid year last season, but at least he has won in this league. As much as it scares me to admitt it, he gives us the best chance to win in Dallas. It's really not to much to ask of him to give a solid performance. Last year he actually had a nice game against the pukes; 325 yards and 2 TD's. Let's send the kitchen sink at Bledsoe, bottle up Jones, win the turn over margin, and maybe we can start calling this a rivalry again.

I am confident that we can crush the Cowboys 24-0. How's it going to happen? Portis will break a 50 yard run for a touchdown. Sean Taylor will return an interception for a touchdown. Dallas will fumble a kickoff and Ade Jimoh will recover and take it in for a touchdown. And I figure we'll get a field goal somewhere along the way. Brunell will go 9 for 21 for 85 yards, no touchdowns, no fumbles, no interceptions.

the worst part about your prediction is it absolutely could happen....

i might just be guilty of wishful thinking, but i have a feeling sean taylor is going to have a monster game, atoning for giving up that game-ending TD last year. i think he will have an interception, force a fumble, and score a TD (maybe on offense, maybe on an INT return).

and he WON'T get burned.

i'm with you on brunell. if he plays well and we win, fine. i don't care who the QB is as long as we win. of course, i feel like ramsey gives us the better chance to do so. but if we win, great, it's all good.

i think the cowboys will only score between 13 and 17 points. i see them scoring 3 times, it's just a matter of whether it's 2 TDs and 1 FG, or 2 FGs and 1 TD. cortez will probably miss at least one other FG attempt.

so we just need to make sure to score 2 TDs. if we can score just 2 TDs, we should win (since we'll probably get a couple FGs too--- if novak holds up). i think we have to keep in mind that brunell threw for 325 yards and 2 TDs against the girls last year. probably won't get that much this time, but even if he can get 150 yards, and portis runs for 120, we will win.

Ramsey and Gibbs have bad blood between each other...

Ramsey won’t be here next year.

I feel Ramsey's pain though; he's basically stuck here until the end of the year....just sitting and waiting...

But that's just how it is right now. Gibbs makes the decisions....

Play Brunell and let Campbell learn the system from an experienced veteran...

Brunell might not have the zip on his throws he used to have but it's the decision-making that counts...Unlike Ramsey, Brunell makes pretty good decisions, decisions that Campbell will have to make when he is the starter...

I think this could be a big game for Taylor as well. He'll be very aware of the rookie mistake that cost us that game. Instead of trying to kill the possession receiver every time he will balance his game in lieu of last year.

This guy is an explosion waiting to happen, you don't get the best of him 3 times in a row without some retribution.

I agree. I think Taylor has calmed down and is ready to play a more heads up football game. I think he is also looking for a little revenge.

I don't know. It will be a close game, but I just feel like Parcells has our number. And the Cowboys looked pretty good against SD.

they were playing against Marty Schittenheimer. maybe you remember him? the guy who couldn't find his "butt" with both hands?

say what you want about marty, the fact is he is a weak imitation of joe gibbs. joe gibbs was an innovator, schitty was an emulator. and gregg williams is at least as smart as gibbs. we have a ton more brainpower on our coaching staff.

additionally, our defense was the 2nd best in the league last year in yards per play and #3 in yards per game (yards per play gives a more accurate ranking, since yards per game doesn't account for time of posession). only buffalo surrendered less yards per play/minute.
whereas, the chargers ranked 21st in yards per play, and 18th in yards per game last year.

it's easy to look good against the 21st rank defense in the league. we will put a stop to all the media hype about dallas.

Obviously, if Brunell wins it is all good. Winning is the ultimate healer in the NFL. As long as you are winning football games, nothing else matters. But when you start losing, your head should start to be on the chopping block.

I hope you're right! Thanks for sharing the optimism. You may have just helped me to decide to have a few people over to watch the game with me instead of hiding alone in fear!! :)

Brunell makes horrible decisions: two stand out from the Bears game.

1) The floater into double coverage that was picked and returned into scoring position. Without the P1 call, it would have cost us the game.

2) The pass in the dirt to Cooley at the two on third and goal.
