I did the same comparison. Carolina passed to a lot of guys, but no Rod G. Maybe he's hurt, but, as I'm naive, I made the simple-minded assumption: Carolina worked him out, and decided that he's not as good as their top four receivers.

**

Coles did less than his numbers might show. The Jets had a drive, I think, when they replaced Pennington with Fiedler. Score was 27 - 0 at the time. Some garbage in those Coles numbers.

Thinking further: the big number for Coles is the "zero" end of the 27 - 0. He did nothing to keep them in the game.

hahahahah good point about gardner! maybe that was carolina's thinking...

don't you all just LOVE the fact that after whining and moaning about only getting 10.6 YPC here last year, he ends up getting basically the same thing there. YOU DESERVE IT, COLES!

Hard to argue with those numbers. Today showed that we have a lot of work to do, but I'm so much more positive about our receivers this year. They made some great 3rd down grabs, and, perhaps most importantly, got seperation from the DBs.

What impressed me were the catches that last year would have been dropped. Some nice progress.

Greetings from NYC: I hope Coles enjoyed playing with Chad yesterday. I am not sure which numbers will be higher Coles ypg or Jet loss's. It could not happen to a better guy!

As glad as I am to know that Coles had a crappy day yesterday, he did'nt get too much help from ol' Chade Pennington. 6 fumbles?

That's inexcusable.

Just saw the highlights of the Coles' drops. One was a sure TD...the other he should have had for a nice gain inside the Chief's 5 yardline.

Coles' apologized to Chad...ain't that sweet :nana:
God bless our troops and Joe Gibbs.

Ha! - look what this guy says about the one of two TD passes dropped by Coles.

Even with all his problems, Pennington was 21 for 34 for 264 yards with only one interception. And his numbers were hurt significantly by dropped passes, including one by Laveranues Coles in the end zone that the average drunk fan could have pulled in. Pennington did complete his first nine passes and his 73.7 passer rating could have easily been close to 90. Pennington was definitely better than Kansas City QB Trent Green, who had a 66.2 rating on Sunday.

The opinion of 10,000 men is of no value if none of them know anything about the subject.

Coles beating himself up

For the second day, Laveranues Coles took his share of blame for the loss.

"I've kicked myself a thousand times," said Coles, who dropped two potential touchdown passes and failed to make a more difficult catch on a third. "I couldn't even sleep [Sunday] night, just pondering every opportunity that I had and didn't capitalize on ... I just feel bad for Chad."

I found the link to this article on THN Huddle.

Looks like he's got butterfingers to go along with his bad toe. :nana:
