One last question...if Ramsey is so respected by his teammates and in the locker room...then why was he picking HIMSELF up after every sack?
you know bosshog, that is a very good question. i think it's well documented that jansen and ramsey are very good friends. i have read on occasion of teammates support for ramsey (where and when i can't exactly remember - i'll try to dig it up).
yeah, i remember seeing that a few times and scratching my head.
also to roanoke:
Understand please, this is the one true hero I have left in my life. There is just a heat of conviction behind my words - not cutting you down personally....I just want you all to believe in him like the old timers who watched him do.
though i am still stickin' to my guns on this brunell/ramsey situation, i'm definitely moved by your conviction and trust of joe gibbs. i don't doubt that he will get this franchise back to the respectibility it once had. however, the offseason is a time for speculation. that's why it's fun being a fan...especially of this team.

...especially so when these same guys were helping Hasselbeck up. The only thing I could think of is that they were a little miffed at Ramsey for holding on to the ball so long and not moving around in the pocket. A lot of the sacks were b/c of Ramsey or the scheme called to protect Ramsey but the line was getting most of the blame. They probably just got tired of it after a while. Still, it was hard to understand that not even Jansen would help Ramsey up and like you mentioned, they're supposed to be good friends. Everyone seemed somewhat rejuvenated with Hasselbeck starting also so that had me a little worried about what must be going on behind closed doors.
I just wanted to stop in and guage your response to the Brunell signing. First let me say that I have great respect for Joe Gibbs...and if you haven't read his book "Racing to Win"...go check it out.
My thoughts are that you guys overspent bigtime.
1) Why a 3rd round pick? There was no one else even bidding and you guys had a reported 4th rounder...then raised it to a 3rd round pick. It seems that if Brunell wanted to really play for the Skins he could have got released (like his agent wanted him to) and you guys could have still signed him and had that pick to help add depth to the offensive line.
2) 8.6 million signing bonus? Do you guys realize that Brunell has made about 15 million dollars in the last 6 months? Yikes. There will be some dead cap money in the future. If he plays only 3 years...there will be a 6+ million cap hit of dead money . We know how that feels from the Daryl Gardener experiment.
3) The Dolphins were the 2nd team in the running for Brunell. There is NO WAY that we would have given him that kind of total salary. It's too early to judge until we see the details...it could be incentive laiden.
4) The Ramsey effect. Ramsey got beat up badly for your team last year. He's a quality player and has a big upside. He's not going to get better by sitting on the bench. This is a league of experience. If I was Ramsey...I would want to go somewhere to avoid the QB controversy and just play football.

1. why a 3rd rounder, i have no response. it sucked have only three picks last year, and it'll suck to only have three this year, hopfully we trade down.
2. the 8.6 mil breaks down to 1.2 per year plus salary.(probably around a 2 mil cap hit the first half of the deal) i'm sure the deal was super backloaded. he'll probally be cut after 4 yrs, post june 1st thus spliting the dead money to 2 seperate years. which is dead money any way you look at it, and THAT sucks.
3. refer to number 2.
4. make no mistake. there will be no QB controversy on joe gibbs' team. everyone will know their role so to speak. i personally hope ramsey is head over heals over brunell in camp. but thats just

Did you hear what Brunell said in his radio interiew today? He said something to the effect of ...
"It's a shame that there can be only one QB on the field...and that's going to be me."
There is no doubt in his mind that he is the starter. He went on to mention that the way the contract was structured speaks to who will be starting.
The problem with that is if Ramsey is not the starter...it hurts his future development and his ability to gain a big future contract. It hits him in the wallet...and that is personal.

i'm glad brunell is confident, but the best man will be on the field. and which ever guy that is only makes our team better. if brunell wins out, then know we got a better guy than what we started with. if ramsey wins out, we know that we really do have our guy for the future. either way, the skins will be stronger for it.
