stick a fork in ramsey

Post by hailskins666 »

as one of his biggest supporters, the (stuff) has hit the fan. when brunell stepped in, the o-line got better, portis got better, and the wr's got better. ramsey is a statue, and gives the o-line nothing to work with. boonell moves, and makes things happen. i have developed a strong hate for boonell, but there is no question in my mind who the better qb is. i know gibbs saw it, and hope that he doesn't start ramsey next week. My 2 cents

 Ramsey couldn't do anything thats why he got hit in the redzone and taken out of the game.Bad call by the ref's should have been a t.d. to cooley, that would have prevented Ramsey from getting hurt on the next play.

Jesus would start Ramsey next week. So will Gibbs.

Your post is obviously written under the influence. Both Ramsey and Brunell looked good against a tough defense, except they each threw one up for grabs. The Chicago defensive line softened late, as defensive lines tend to do when their offenses give them no time to rest. Our defense was incredible, pure and simple, and ended up opening up things for the offense. The OL was great. The stats for us were much better than the score-- 350 yards or so against one of the NFL's best defenses. What to do about Brown and his state of mind is the major concern. Otherwise, we ready.

no. you are a know it all, but you don't know it all. the offensive line played a game when brunell was in. because he sensed the rush just a tiny bit. ramsey didn't it's easy to hit a guy who stands still. brunell doesn't do that.

i hated the way brunell played last year. he was obviously hurt, and thats not an excuse, he should have pulled himself from the lineup. but i don't think he's hurt anymore.

once ramsey settled in after that early INT, he looked very sharp. he was doing a great job with those 15-20 yard passes. i think it was probably for the best to keep him out of the game until we know more about how hurt he is, how shaken up he was, etc. plus he doesn't usually play as well when he comes into a game (except the 1st time ever at Tennessee). i am sure he will start next week.

crazyhorse, you are exactly right when you point out the refs essentially knocked him out of the game with the highly questionable offensive PI on cooley... it sure looked to me like the defender initiated the contact there. and if we had gotten our 15 yard penalty on that clothesline tackle like we should've, we probably could've got a TD, and definitely would've have a FG there.

thats all good. but he needs to be on a SHORT leash. i like ramsey a lot. but truth is the line plays way worse when he is the pocket. thats why gibbs drafted a mobile qb. the stand and throw thing is not working in the nfl. the qb that can move to make a play are the ones who are making progress.

IM pretty dissapointd in ramsey today. Ive alsays been behind the gut but i thnk now that brunell can win us more games this season.

Ramsey just wasn't even close to as mobile as brunell and it was obvious.

I cant believe we are in the midst of another qb controversy in dc.

its obvious. i just wish campell was the back-up. maybe it would speed up the learning curve. i just don't think brunell will win us a SB.

As disappointed as I was in Ramsey's play today, I still think that you cant base his entire season on what he gave today.

True, Brunell outpeformed Ramsey today, but I think that a lot of the credit for his performance should be delt to Portis, for keeping Chicago's d line discplained and carrying the load throughout clutch times in the second half.

Like it or not, this situation with the QB is an issue, a major issue.

Like it or not its deifinately out there and UNDOUBTEDLY on Gibbs' mind.

Ramsey started to pick up his play before he got hurt. He still was very uncomfortable looking.

my view of this was ramsey is as confused as ever.the team like you said showed some energy when brunnell came in.the refs in general make me sick with what they allowed the bears to get away with but thats just me.a wins a win but it wasn,t pretty by any means of the imagination but heck it,s the first game of the season.from the looks of it ,it reminds me of a high scoring baseball game.three field goals was a little fustrating.

all in all again both defenses stold the show.

I guess it will take most of you guys a few more interceptions and a couple of stupid losses to realize that Brunell is way smarter and makes good decisions. The biggest difference is that Brunell may not win the game but more than likely he wont losse it and with the way our defense is that is all we need!

ramsey was only rolled out once...in the end zone.

brunell got rolled out several times, not sure how many but more than once.

ramsey completed 81 yards of passing to santana moss...including that 52 yarder or whatever it was yardage

brunell threw dinky passes and took failed shots downfield

ramsey got clotheslined on an illegal play, and the DB and cooley both pushed each other, play should have kept going, TD redskins and we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Ramsey will start barring setbacks from his injury, plain and simple. all you brunell bandwagon folks can just deal with it, ramsey is gibbs' guy, and im going to trust gibbs with anything he does.
Sean, may you always rest in peace and look down on us with the same love that we look up to you.

I believe the only reason Portis got better, is because the coaching staff started calling Portis type plays.

I don't know what they see in ramming Portis up the middle, but he sucks at that. Let him run outside and pick his hole. Then he will get 41 yards, even 64.

So even though Brunell had Portis dominating, he still almost lost us the game because he can not move the chains with his arm.

I definately want Patrick to start the Dallas game, however I think he confidence was once again shattered when Brunell stayed in the whole game.

This was a post from another thread, it is worth repeating:

"I think Brunell should start. I want to root for a team that finishes 6 and 10 two years in a row and has to acheive that by bringing in a guy from the bench. Further, if it hadn't been for Brunell's great handoffs, Portis would have sucked. And, it wasn't really Brunell who threw that floater into double coverage that could have cost us the game if the interception hadn't been called back. It was Ramsey in Brunell's jersey.
Damn that Cooley. If only he'd stayed on the goal line and caught the ball with his extended wong when Brunell cleverly threw it to the dirt on the one yard line on 3rd and goal, our man would have had a TD toss.

And arm strength. Man, did you see the way Brunell bounced his opening toss all the way to the sidelines. 70 yards in three quarters! Man, he hasn't lost a thing from last year. I loved the way he tripped himself up and went down on his butt, spoiling that crucial drive. What entertainment for my masochistic self. The guy is flawless."

First of all, the OL played great protecting Ramsey, except for the occasion of the freak and illegal play, which resulted not from anyone being beaten, but an excellent gamble by the D. The only fault was on the part of the assinine zebras, who seem to be taking up the task of screwing us whenever they can.
I was amazed Gibbs didn't scream bloody murder about that one. You've got to protect your players...I don't care how much of a Christian gentleman you're supposed to be. That was a damned dirty play, all the way round.
Second, I'm as mobile as Campbell is, and I carry a cane. Further, when I think of gentlemen who can't move much, Brady and Manning come to mind.
Finally, I have trouble believing Brunell has a magical power to make offensive lines block better. Does he practice voodoo? Why didn't he practice it last year? Does he practice it only when Portis runs? What does he have against Betts?

My impression is that it typically takes the Skins' coaches one to two quarters to adjust to their opponent.
They usually start the game with the same basic set of plays. The "up the gut" plays, dump offs or the few deep patterns are par for course until they read the opponent. I don't expect any changes to their game plan until late 2nd quarter or after half time. My 2 cents

the stand and throw thing is not working in the nfl. the qb that can move to make a play are the ones who are making progress.

Manning, Brady, Green, Bulger, Hasselbeck, Collins, Delhomme, Pennington.....those are just some of the pocket passers that are succesful in the NFL.
