Just heard Brandon underwent a MRI today.

What's his status for Sunday?

Heard something about "torn cartlegde" in practice yesterday and a MRI today but did not catch the whole story.

:sigh:

I love the guy but he just can't seem to catch a break injury-wise. He's tough as nails but he just has a bum post.

The Times reported yesterdy that Noble 'injured his cartilage'... not tore it. I think if he tore it, he'd likely end up on the IR right away. The article said that the Redskins were being 'vague' to keep the Bears guessing.

Not that relevant to the equation to be honest with you. As much as I personally love Noble, his injury history (including through training camp and preseason this year) precludes the Redskins from thinking of him as anything more than a man in the rotation. Corny and Salave'a are the starters and while Williams will rotate through the d-linemen to keep them fresh, having one less won't be that catastrophic.

Gregg Williams can seemingly sub anyone in and out of this lineup without missing a beat. Some of that is because of the 'system' nature of the defense, a lot of it is just because Williams is a defensive genius. He understands his system implicitly, he understands how EACH player 'fits in' and he has the mentality that he will always 'work with what he has'. To me that's the essence of his success. His sheer comprehension of defense allows him to just call different sets and alignments and blitz packages to SUIT WHAT HE IS WORKING WITH ON ANY GIVEN DAY. We finished with 3 of 11 starters in 2004... a testament to Williams' prowess. Greg Blache needs to be mentioned too because he found a way to sub in 'a nobody' into the d-line many times last year and with good success (Ron Warner, Demetric Evans). The only effect that not having Noble creates is more packages with extra linebackers and fewer linemen to keep guys fresh.

I hope Brandon's injury isn't serious, but Williams won't have any trouble working around it. My 2 cents
Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.

How much longer do you think this guy is going to play?

At the most, I'd say 2 seasons.

I am not even going to comment to you guys knocking one of my favorites. I'm just going to say I hope he gets healthy soon and I hope he sees action tomorrow.

We are not knocking him but he does the team no good being on the shelf all the time. I want him in there as well but...

He is not hurt all the time. He actually had a staph infection last time. That is not an injury. Secondly he isn't even out or on injured reserve. Have you ever paid attention to him when he was on the field?? He is not only a solid defensive line man he is the best cheer leader I've ever seen. He is constantly trying to get the fans involved in the game. To me that means he's got the heart of a true Redskin and for that I can over look a few bumps and bruises to a man who isn't even listed as a started.

Noble is a beast. I was there at the game where he originally injured his knee - it was not pretty. He battled back from that and he will battle back from whatever injury he has this time. He can really stuff the run inside and provide good depth for us on the d-line which lots of people on this site think we need more of. Also, he is a team leader and a great presence.

NikiH I'm not "knocking" Brandon, was/still hoping for big things from him. He does produce when he is on the field but that as been limited. I have no doubt he'll have a good year. What about down the road?

From the post
Defensive tackle Brandon Noble suffered a cartilage injury in his left knee during Thursday's practice and is listed as questionable for the Washington Redskins' season opener against Chicago tomorrow at FedEx Field.
