Some Surprising Cuts

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Some Surprising Cuts

Post by JPM36 »

I was looking at the cut list and there were a few guys I always thought of as solid players and I was shocked to see them actually get cut. To name a few:

DT Cletidus Hunt, Packers (although I hear he was terrible in '04)

TE Teyo Johnson, Raiders

LB Alonzo Jackson, Steelers

Anyone have an opinion on any of these guys or think we should go after one of them?

i can't hear/see the name "Cletidus" without thinking of "Cletus the Slack-Jawed Yokel" from the simpsons. but "idus" sounds like a fancy greek suffix. so i guess "Cletidus" makes me envision an ancient greek hillbilly, staggering around mostly toothless, with a straw hat and a toga or something, can of beer in hand.

Teyo Johnson is good, but he is more of a possesion TE. So I don't think he'll be pursued.

I was most surprised by Quentin Griffin, Fred Gibson, Jon Ritchie, Teyo Johnson, Cletidus Hunt, Ross Tucker, P.K. Sam, and Talman Gardner.

I think Sam and Gibson would be worth a look down the road. Maybe Teyo Johnson as well.

I noticed Griffin too but I can't really say I was surprised. Denver has a ton of running backs and he's never really been that good. He just had a few good games and people got carried away.

Someone get Kyle Eckel's agent on the phone. I love that guy.

as much as i love kyle eckel, he comes with a bit of concern. he is in the navy, and he would have to go report for duty for weeks at a time, rendering him useless for much of the season. after serving on active duty for 2 years, he is elegible to do whatever he pleases, aka play in the NFL. call his agent in a couple years, he'll still be the same beast im sure.
Sean, may you always rest in peace and look down on us with the same love that we look up to you.

Hail to the Redskins!

No one can tap into David Terrell...he is gone.

What about Raynoch Thompson? Good for Depth.

Best player who didn't make the final cuts was Jeff Robinson. Invited to this year's Pro Bowl to long snap. Simply not worth his 1.4 million cap hit.

I think Ashely Ambrose has enough in his tank for us. We need an experienced cornerback to come in for depth, kind of what we thought we could get from Artrell Hawkins.

Rickey Dudley used to be good, he may be a serviceable backup TE.

Dudley was pretty good as a college senior. In the pros he's been nothing short of a bust.

When a second team cuts a former first rounder, that tells you something.
