Antonio Brown is the new 50/50. We should cut him now before he costs us games.

Look I don't except losing, but I am not one of "Those Fans" that likes to cut off the head of every player that has a bad game. "Fans" that over react to one poor performance feed the fire of instability that has truly led to this team being bad for so long. There are so many people that expect a player to be perfect from day one and the team can't afford to develope players that it make me sick. I think there are plenty of fans that visit this site that know very little about football and are poser Redskins fans (yes, I am talking to you SKINS_DOMIN8).

(to the mods, I know I am pushing the site rules right now and will consider myself warned)

Good teams have coaches that have been with that team for years and have tallented players that they developed. Our problem over the last decade was that the people running this team and the fans watching it still thought that we had a good team that only needed a few players. We tried to rebuild on the fly and win every year. Sometimes you have to built fo next year and the year after that. We thought that the team could be turned around in a year. That wasn't realistic, but we are now close to being a good team but we still have to keep site of the future. Ditching a guy that may not be ready to be a big hit on offense this year but can help the team a lot on ST and develope into a star is just crazy.

My post was based on the entire pre-season...I'm all for development of "good" players. Rod Garner and Michael Westbrook were "good" players Do we really need to teach a NFL players how to catch?? Ask your self this question...Why was Antonio cut from his previous employer?

I thought we ran Gardner or 50/50 out of town because "he couldn't catch" even though he averaged 56 catches a year and 5.5 TDs. (You know that I was never on the run Gardner out of town campain) And Westbrook was given 5 or 6 year to prove that he was a head case of a WR that would never amount to anything. Brown had 2 good games, one so-so game and one bad game. I have no idea why Brown was cut by the Bills. I don't know why Philly cut Thrash in the late 90's either or why they just cut C. Simon. Why was P. Price cut. Why didn't Seatle let go of all of their WR's (because none of them can catch). Why did Koren Robbinson last so long? If you thought Gardner dropped a lot of balls, he was sure handed compared to Robbinson.

I don't think that the Skins need to teach Brown how to catch. I think he was pressing and just needs to relax and he will be fine.

WOW. More sheer genius. I thought we shipped Gardner I to Carolina only to come to find out that Gardner II is still on this team. :evil:

Your right, actually he's probably 5th on the depth chart... and his main duty will be punt & kick return which he does awfully well...

Robinson was a high pick so they held on to him as long as the could as for Shaw and Pathon... they are both currently looking for jobs after being cut for not catching the ball

I don't like it when they do stupid things i.e....keeping Antonio Brown, starting Patrick Ramsey over a veteran Brunell who has clearly outperformed him this preseason too, giving away our next year's #1, letting Antonio Pierce go, taking basically all offseason to get rid of Rod Gardner I, having a 42 year old O-Lineman on this team (a huge embarassment), redoing Lavar Arrington's contract when his broke carcass didn't do anything last year to warrant it, not drafting a Defensive End for the past oh.....decade, and on and on.......

But its time to be optimistic right?

Skins_Domin8, you are so awesome. If it were up to you, you would cut every guy on the roster.

We wouldn't have anyone on the roster so you wouldn't have anything to complain about... except how an 11-man squad is beating a 0-man squad every Sunday. :shock:

By the way, I'm glad we kept Antonio Brown.

But it seems like ever since the hype has started, it's been getting to him and he tries too hard to be like Dante Hall. He tries too many flashy moves to get away instead of navigating through a lane.

No I would only cut the sorry ones...i.e. the "fan favorites."

But in a way you are right....I would probably cut at least a third of the players on this team since they wouldn't make the roster of any other team in the league.

People that want to be on this team and not complain about their contracts when they haven't done anything in a year, people willing to listen to Gibbs and not committ stupid penalties, drop passes, over/underthrow wide open receivers, criticize the coaches' gameplans when they haven't done anything to be allowed to criticize in the first place (cough..John Jansen), people that don't get injured every other game....if I think of anymore truisims I will add...but, most importantly:

There were no complaints about Brown 3 days ago - in fact he had showed lots of promise as a return-man. Like most fair weather fans you'll throw the baby out with the bath water. Then you'll be complaining in 2weeks about the return game.

You're upset that the Redskins traded next years #1 pick to get a guy that may replace the one guy you cry the most about on this team (RAMSEY), tells me you just need something to complain about. Pierce was a one year starter and has been replace by a one year starter that played beside him, Now they but play the middle (time will tell). AP was offered a contract close to what he signed for (same with Smoot). Players leave they aren't always sent packing.
Why does the time it took to move Gardner matter? It was known he wouldn't be here so his time of departure doesn't matter. The fact that we got something for him so late was a plus but you wouldn't/couldn't look at like that.

Yeah we have needed to draft a DE for some time now. There are at least 29 teams in the NFL last year that performed worst than our defense last year. To give give them a better shot at out performing us this year we should have allowed you to conduct the draft last April. If they all sign a petition you might get the gig next year

The key with Antonio Brown is that he did a solid jump of returning the ball. Obviously some of you have forgotten the mess a few years ago when we couldn't even get someone to hold on to the ball or move forward with it when we had to return it.

He did drop a few as a receiver but his primary role on this team is not going to be in that position. I think he's great to have on this team for that reason alone. If he can improve his WR skills we may see him a little bit through out a game but if not he earns his keep anyway.

Rich Parsons hopefully will end up on our practice squad to back up Antonio Brown should he become injured or unable to play. The coaching staff didn't make any easy decisions yesterday but to me this was one of the easier ones.

I liked what I saw from Parson as a returner and Farris had a big night on a night were Brown struggled. The problem I had was I didn't see Parson do much as a wideout nor did I see Farris return any kicks. I still wonder how the preformance of the 3 played out for that 1 spot Friday night.

Well another consideration is that I'm not 100% sure that Brown would qualify for the Practice Squad should we release him, I'm still a little fuzzy on how that works. So that could have very well played into the equation.
