Everyone keeps getting hung up on the fact that Brown didn't catch all of those passes, but I am looking at the bright side. He was torching the Ravens DBs. Did you see the move and the separation that he made on the B-more secondary on the dropped TD? Heck the out that he ran before that, he fell down got back up and still separated from the DB.

Now that being said, if he can't catch the ball then it means nothing. But I believe he just had one of those nights where it got into his head and his hands became petrified.

I disagree a little with all the people who say he only had one bad game or those who wanted to see if he could bounce back with another game because he had two terrible drops last week and then followed it up with a four drop performance last night. He did make some nice plays earlier in the preseason but maybe those were the abberation and the last two games he has shown his true self. I don't necessarily think that, I'm just being the devil's advocate there.

However, I have only heard good things about him in training camp from the coaches and he has shown his ability to get open even if he drops the ball when it gets to him.

In the end I am going to trust the coaching staff on their decisions because I know they have seen a lot more of these guys then I have.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying, he sure was. From all camp accounts he has been a sure-handed reciever and he seemed to be a favorite target of Brunell that shows he must have trusted his hands. It's a very hard thing for us to guage just on his performance over the preseason - he has certainly been up and down. Again, I am just going to trust the coaches on this one.

it was awesome to see thrash huddled together with brown on the bench, giving his support. maybe he'll take him under his wing and help him work on his catchin' technique, or mental obstacles, or whatever the heck it is that allows him to catch a punt falling end-over-end from 50 yards in the sky, but drop a perfect spiral thrown right into his hands. seems like it is mental thing-- maybe he is afraid of getting hit. he's so little... on the punts, he knows he has a few seconds once he makes the catch. in camp, hitting is either non-existant or pretty light, and apparently he caught the ball well then.

IMO, brown should be cut. parson can return, he almost broke THREE returns for touchdowns last night, and after his returns, i think we scored twice? farris caught pretty much everything that was thrown his way last night, including two long (there's a novelty considering last year) touchdowns. i say keep parson and farris, and cut brown, he's a one dimensional player, and we're not the chiefs who can keep dante hall as a retuner/receiver but not have him go out for passes.

Farris and Parson = two roster spots
Brown = 1

This may turn out to be a blessing in disguise. I bet there will be no receiver on the team who will work harder on concentrating when catching balls the rest of the season. I think he choked because he wants it so bad. No one on the team gets the separation this guy gets on CB and with Ramsey this is key. On some of the throws it looks like Brunnell is throwing too hard.

Farris will not fare as well against starting CBs. Farris did look good on kick coverage. What has Taylor Jacobs done to deserve a spot?

He had one bad and yes REALLY BAD game and everyone is jumping all over him. Look at his stats from the other 3 games and he has been productive. He just had one really bad, mental game:

@ Carolina (3 catches, 37 yards)

Cincinnati (3 catches, 46 yards)

Pittsburgh (1 catch 19 yards)

Gibbs On Antonio Brown

It was a tough game for wide receiver Antonio Brown. The third-year player had multiple dropped passes in the first half of Thursday's 26-20 loss to the Ravens.

With a numbers crunch at wide receiver, could Brown have played himself out of a roster spot?

On Friday Gibbs praised Brown for his work all offseason and in training camp. Brown also serves as a kick and punt return specialist.

"I've been bragging about Antonio all summer," Gibbs said. "I know he got upset last night. We all did with his dropped passes. But I think he's been sure-handed on teams and we sure like him.

"That position [as kickoff and punt returner] is one that's very important to us. We'll just have to go through this on a numbers standpoint and see how it all shakes out.:

This is the EPITOME of why this team has sucked for so long. There are certain Redskins "fans" that accept losing and accept dropped passes and penalties so long as their heroes smile to the media and take pictures with ignorant fans.

Antonio Brown is the new 50/50. We should cut him now before he costs us games.

In your world, the Redskins have made the playoffs every year since Gibbs left. But in reality, the Redskins have stunk the joint up on countless occassions. Not only that, these newer "Skins" fans don't seem to care about winning. They only care about their "heroes."

Improvement? when and where? This season remains to be seen. Development? Progress? If we win 1 more game than last year that will suffice in your eyes?

You don't know anything about my world son, don't profess to.

As for seeing improvement, I have nothing to base it on... well, except THN being AT mini-camp and ATTENDING EVERY DAY of training camp. What are YOU basing your dismal outlook on? The press?

I see the o-line has improved dramatically, I see Portis benefitting greatly from it, and I see the entire passing offense benefitting from an improved running game. I see a defense that will not only NOT take a step backwards but may even improve upon their #3 ranking last year. I also see an entire team that will benefit from the stability that being in the same system for a second year in a row. I see some young players developing into even better players with an extra year under the belt and a year in which many of them saw significant playing time... Sean Taylor, Ryan Clark, Jim Molinaro, Derrick Dockery, Lemar Marshall, and Joe Salave'a.

These are the things that I feel will translate into improvement overall.

He can be taught to catch the ball with efficiency. You can't be taught to be the fastest player in the NFL, or the best route runner on the team. Those are things that come in one out of ever few dozen astounding athletes. He's a touchdown return waiting to happen every time he lines up deep to field a punt, and an indespensible speed burner.

Antonio Brown could have dropped three more balls, and fumbled two catches for losses and he'd still be a major member of the Skins offense.

This is a here and now league we don't have time to "teach" him how to catch the ball. Imagine if we had to teach our QB how to throw?? The truth is Antonio will make the team as a PK/KR becuase Gibbs said what Danny Smith wants he gets on ST. However if Antonio ever see the field at WR then that means we're in trouble at the WR position

You are exactly right. Antonio Brown will make Danny Smith's team. If Danny Smith feels that Antonio Brown gives his Special Teams unit the best chance of making something happen, then AB can take up 1 roster spot.

And see, he won't see time in the Regualr Season, unless he makes mass improvements which would make him a very good WR. This is how I see the Depth Chart:

1.Moss/Patten
2.Patten/Moss
3.Thrash
4.Dyson
5.Jacobs
6.Brown

So unless someone gets hurt or AB becomes Americas greatest WR, he likely won't see playing time anyway. (I mean, it's kind of like the Chad Morton situation, even though he sucked at RB, we kept him for his return skills)
