A 12-step Program for Skins Fans

Talk about the Washington Football Team here. Do you bleed burgundy and gold?

A 12-step Program for Skins Fans

Post by Justice Hog »

My “12 Steps” as a Redskins Fan

1. I admit that I am powerless over being a Redskins fan.

2. I believe that there is a greater power that can restore me to sanity (i.e., not thinking about the Redskins 24/7). (Perhaps, for example, I can try to think about the Redskins only 23 hours a day / 7 days a week?)

3. I have made the decision to turn my life over to the care of Joe Gibbs...and to TheHogs.net family.

4. I have made a searching an fearless inventory of myself and I am aware that my blood bleeds burgundy and gold.

5. I admit to Joe Gibbs, myself, to my TheHogs.net family, and to others that I am a “Skins-a-holic.”

6. I am entirely ready to have God remove any defects of my character. (For example, if I ever feel like rooting for the Cowboys and/or Eagles for one second....God forgive me!)

7. I humbly ask for God to remove my shortcomings. (For example, if I ever for one moment have doubts about a Joe Gibbs decision...or have the desire to “boo” the team at Fed Ex.)

8. I have made a list of all of those Eagles fans I have made fun of...and I’m willing to make amends to them all. (For example, I will try to remain sober enough so I don’t spit all over them when I laugh in their faces about not reaching the Super Bowl again.)

9. I have made direct amends to some of those Eagles fans by saying, “I’m really sorry that your teams sucks so bad and that you fans are lower than cow dung.”

10. I will continue to take personal inventory and if/when I start hating Dallas and/or the Eagles less, I will promptly admit it.

11. I will seek, through prayer and meditation, to improve my conscious worship of Joe Gibbs, praying only for knowledge of his will for fans, and the team, and his power to carry that out.

12. Finally, I hope to have a spiritual awakening as a result of these steps and I will try to carry the message of being a true Redskins fan to others, and to practice the principles by being the best Redskins fan I can be.

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change. The courage to change those that I can. And the wisdom to know the difference.

Don't make fun of the Eagles man. The Skins have to get through them to be good, and they are a great team.

OH MY GOD.....YOU DIDN'T JUST "GO THERE"

Dude! I absolutely will make fun of the Eagles! I gotta news flash for ya....the Skins will be good.

Besides, getting "through" the Eagles shouldn't be a problem. I seem to recall 3 teams doing it recently on their way to the Super Bowl!

Talk to me when the Eagles actually make it to the Super Bowl, okay! They're nothing but a bunch of wannabees....and they will NEVER win the Super Bowl.

Damn you for making me break Rule #8! [-X [-X [-X [-X [-X [-X [-X [-X [-X [-X

I am comfortable in the fact that the EAGLES BRASS think they are great and will stand pat on those "punk" receivers. It looks good for the burgundy and gold (once we get rid of our schizophrenic tendencies....who said that?)

Not make fun of the Beagle fans? I love that... they have a decent QB with good leadership skills, a couple of decent runners, a porous OL, subpar WR and a problem over the last several years with DLmen who can stay healthy for 8 games in a year....

Not to mention they have ended up with bad draft postions over the last 3 years not even making it to the big game. THAT in and of itself does its damage over the years - ask Buffalo. At least they choked IN the big game for gosh sakes ::grin::

Eagles fans are the absolute worst. I think being the closest team to a SB, but not getting their for three strait years is sweet justice.

NOT pick on "Giggles" fans? WHAT? Oh, cruel, cruel world that would not give me the chance to pick on Philthydelphia fans! Oh, what a terrible place it would be if I wasn't able to hold up a picture of 3 SB trophies and ask an Eagles fan if they had ever seen one other than on TV...

Hey, Justice Hog, any plans for printing out the 12 steps, maybe having them laminated so that they don't get wet in the rain at the games?

Good post. I guess it's the way I was raised, but my hatred is for the pukes and would be in about six of my "steps". One step for sure would be to always root for whomever is playing the pukes...even if it's philly...the giggles have have never really been that good enough to worry about. Plus I just really hate everything there is past present and future about the blue and silver star wearing crygirls.
God bless our troops and Joe Gibbs.
We'll miss you, Joe.

Ever been to Philly or an area filled with their fans?? On game days they have green beer, pancakes, everything. It's sickening. Don't even try to talk football with them. It's like trying to communicate with a lower life form. I, in my life, have NEVER talked to an Eagles fan that knew football or wasn't a totally belligerent jerk regarding the eagles. As much as i dislike other teams, there are plenty of knowledgeable Giants fans and even a few ::gulp:: DALLAS FANS. So this is why it's fun to make fun of the eagles. their fans are mindless jerks and oh yeah, they're a bunch of CHOKE ARTISTS. Kind of like the early 90's Bills, just not as good.

For the record, I feel bad for some eagles players. I have met McNabb and Staley, and both are fine gentlemen.

The thing is, Dallas has a great history and everything. There is a certain Cowboys tradition and mystique about them. They are, in the truest sense of the word, Worthy Adversaries. I hate 'em too, but not as much as Philly because:
1- I'm from the east coast. Dallas is like another world to me.
2- Philly fans are outright jerks. you get some decent dallas fans here and there.
3- I can respect winning and a winning tradition. There have been some truly great players in and out of dallas over the years like Aikman, Emmitt, Irvin, Staubach, Larry Allen, Richard Dent, Tony Dorsett, even Deion... etc etc and let's not forget a coach to rival our own Joe Gibbs: Tom Landry was a hell of a guy and a great coach.

The eagles and their fans have done nothing to earn my respect. Win a SB and then talk some.
