I was thinkin' to myself today....of all the other coaches out there in the NFL, who would be my favorite? After some thought, I concluded it had to be HERM EDWARDS.
I just really like his coaching style and I think he has a lot of integrity.
Who is your "other" favorite coach?

I like Chuckie, I mean Jon Gruden. He is just so funny to listen to on the behind the scenes things they do. He says more bad words then any sailor I've ever met.

My favortie line from the Simpsons:
Flanders: "Looks like someone is having a pre-rapture party!"
Homer: "No Flanders, it's a meeting of gay witches for abortion , you wouldn't be interested!"
He seems like a nice guy. I remember seeing him in an interview discussing priest holmes as a person moreso than just one of his players.
PS: I like Parcells too...even though he coaches that team in texas.
dick vermeil is a jerk. in early 2001, when Marty Schittenheimer was disgracing the redskins franchise with the team he put on the field and the plays he ran, vermeil commented basically that it was the redskins organization that was to blame, not Schitty, snippily retorting something like "He's a great coach, he just doesn't have any good players". i guess vermeil didn't realize that Schitty was in charge of player personell and had personally shaped the roster. to mention that we had some very good players such as stephen davis, darrel green, champ bailey, lavar arrington, chris samuels, jon jansen, etc etc. the failings of the 2001 season were inarguably the result of the blindfolded-monkey-throwing-darts-at-a-playbook style of offensive play-calling employed by Schittenheimer and his equally incompetent cohorts.
I wasn't the fan I am today back in 2001 but I vaguely remeber having a pretty decent year. That cat turned things around towards the latter half of the year.
Plus Vermeil was commenting when Danny was #1 honcho around here, I've heard worse stuff from Skins fans.

I disagree with you and agree with CLL. Personally, I would have liked to see Shotty return to the Skins the following year. He did exactly what Gibbs did in his first year, remember? Lose a bunch of games early and then turn the team around to finish very strong...and at 8-8 (if I remember correctly). If we kept him here, I betcha the Skins would have been in the playoffs the following year.
Yes, it took Shotty some time to get passed his learning curve here with the players he was dealt...but he did, in fact, start winning with those players.

Already a genius on one side of the ball, now hopefully he can learn the rest. But definitely one of my faves.
One sidenote about GW and Training Camp here... having stood in close proximity to him on several occasions... he obviously gets a pass on Coach Gibbs' preference not to cuss.
Hey Boss maybe I'm an odd ball but I really think the cussing shows a passion for what they are doing. I know in some cases it's just how people are but like in Gruden's case, you can tell he cares about what's going on and that's why he gets so bent out of shape.
Oh and I think picking GW is cheating! He is not in the category of "other"! And he will one day be a Redskins head coach!

Marvin Lewis is one of my favorites just because i love defense...along with playing qb for my high school team, i played defensive end (kind of an odd combination to play, no?) and i was amazed by the amount of passion that marvin lewis brought to our defense and how the players responded to him. it was good that he left though, becuase now we have gregg williams and, like Boss, he is my next fave
Sean, may you always rest in peace and look down on us with the same love that we look up to you.

Hands Down? "The General" Marty Schottenheimmer (sp?)
He didn't get a fair shake in DC, and he was run out of town by then-meddlesome-owner Dan Snyder.
He brought discipline, character, and attitude to this club. He was tryin' to right Norville's wrongs and had the fellas playing TEAM football by season's end.
I admire the guy, and I am so proud of the rebuilding job he's done in San Diego.
I vote Martyball! I loved Marty S. As for Die Cowboys Die's response I have one comment. Our record that year was 8-8...better than Spurrier and Gibbs II...better than Norv's last year, though I can't blame that on Norv. I loved the determination that marty had to motivate the team to go 8-3 after starting 0-5! If he'd have stayed we would have been in the playoffs in 2002, and making a run in 2003.
