Your thoughts on Jason Campbell

As well as being a huge Redskin fan, I am a huge college football fan. I even play small college football. Anyways, when I heard we were interested in Campbell I was SO pumped. I dont think people really truely know how good he is. Against VT in the sugar bowl, he threw a perfect strike to a wideout off his backfoot that was in the air for 68 yards. He is not scared of any situation. He controls the game better then any college QB I have seen since Peyton Manning. Nothing against Ramsey, but there is a big difference in coming from Tulane and throwing darts down the field to cut leads, and playing in the SEC where every week there are 100,000 fans screaming for your head. He walked into places like Tennesse and Florida with ice water in his veins. It was no surprise to me to see him look unrattled in his first NFL snaps. The future looks real bright with him in DC.

jason campbell has great skills. i am sad to say i didnt watch him much during the CFB season last year, but from highlights that i saw on sportscenter and local news, this guy was the real deal. he didn't just hand off to ronnie brown and cadillac williams, like Mike Golic so eloquently said not too long ago when talking about jason campbell's job at auburn, but he actually played the quarterback postition. its a lot more than dropping back and tossing the ball down the field. from what limited action i have seen him in, he manages games like a Brett Favre, has mobility like Daunte or McCrap, and a cannon of an arm that sort of reminds me of jake plummer (the way it comes off with the zip and the hum). he looked pretty darn good, albeit against a 3rd team defense, and i hope its a sign of things to come sans botched hand offs and ints :-)

He has a real live arm. I also really liked what I saw on that one play where the pocket collapsed and he was able to run it to the sidelines and get out of bounds. He didn't get any yards or anything but it showed how mobile it was. It seemed completely effortless too. He has prototypical size and appears to have the right demeanor to play QB (something Patrick is clearly lacking).

I think he will start for us on Opening Day 2006 and I think he will develop into a borderline Pro Bowl QB for us.

I watch the presason game vs carolina and was amazed at Campbells poise while commanding the offense.everything ran soomthly and he didn't make any big mistakes. Hopefully we will get to see him come in to next weeks game earlier to see how he commands the offense against better defensive talent.

Great poise.

Good touch on the ball.

Good pocket awareness.

Decent mobility.

Seemed to be a good director when getting guys to the line.

All of those things that I mentioned should translate over into any string # defense he's in.

I like Jason a whole lot but I don't think he is quite ready to be thrust in there yet. We don't want him to get damaged right out of the shute. Given time he just might be what the doc ordered.

Agreed, I just watched him again on TiVo and I realized that after the first series where he made a poor throw and then botched the handoff, the next two series were both run completely in a no-huddle offense. He did a great job telling the guys what play to run, lining them up, and then executing. It is absolutely amazing to me that a rookie QB was able to not just do this but sustain two long drives as well. IMO, that just shows an incredible amount of leadership and intelligence.

Yes....I think he can be a great NFL QB. But, Ramsey should get a chance to play. He's earned it. If he can't get it done then I'd like to see Campbell play so he can get experience.

If Ramsey doesn't cut it, I think Campbell should get the nod, and the season should be spent developing him for the future. Brunell is a waste of time. Erase him from your thoughts. He will not get us into the playoffs. The only thing he could do for us is retard Campbell's development. I had rather lose a couple more games with Campbell than win a couple more with Brunell-- an unlikely scenario at that-- but one that would pay off in big numbers in O7.

His leadership on the field was amazing, the mechanics were very nice, his reads were good, pocket awareness was great. Again this guy lead the Tiger to an undefeated season.

But still a Rookie, playing against most players which wont make the cut. This was childs play for Campbell, lets see how he does against first team players. He will be crazy good next year with the team around him.
Portis, speedy WR, Cool

ey, strong O-line and a top 10 D and good Special Teams.

Look forward to 06-07 season Playoffs.

from what i,ve seen of him last year at auburn he is a pretty good talent at qb.he found a winner in jason but again time will tell all on just what he can do for us now and in the future.his first outing against carolina was pretty good i thought despite the int.

I AGREE WITH PACMAN!

I think that Campbells college experience as a whole has contributed to his success so far.

Still. he has a lot to prove and im confident he can get it done.

You have to take into consideration that Jason Campbell looked comfortable in the pocket with four linemen that I do not know the name of rushing at him. Patrick Ramsey did look uncomfortable at times with brentson buckner, julius peppers, kris jenkins, and mike rucker rushing at him.

Im sorry but I tend to disagree. Poise is poise no matter who you're playing against. 3rd stringers are still NFL players and darn good. Campbell has shown all the qualities that Ramsey has lacked since his rookie year. Ramsey has never looked all that comfortable, you can see it in his face, in his legs, and arms. Even if we put him in with a better pass rush I doubt he'd have too much of a problem. That poise would still be there even if he had to throw the ball away, or had to scramble. He has an air of confidence about him that Ramsey has never had.

My father always said that you can't make a QB, they're born. He doesn't seem Ramsey as a born QB but one that people are trying to mold into one, Campbell seems like he's a born QB. He seems to have exactly what a QB needs even as a rookie. The offensive knowledge will come, the ability to read a D will come but poise and pocket presence cannot.

First off, I did not see any of the game.

However, I am a huge Ramssey fan. I really liked getting Jason, but felt that it would actually hurt Ramsey, which from what most of you say, it has. Ramsey needs the confidence of his team, which he doesn't have. How could he feel relaxed if his coach throws draft pics to get this new kid? Ramsey sucked last year in preseason with competition, but did well as a starter. I don't think Gibbs has done any favors to Ramsey by this draft pic. It says wholeheartedly that he does NOT like what he sees in Ramsey, which I cannot understand. I've liked Ramsey since he was first thrown to the wolves. I think Spurrier almost ruined him and now Gibbs has finished him off. Thanks a lot.

As far as Campbell goes, I really like him, I just wish that Gibbs hadn't traded so much for him. As long as he works out though, I guess all is good....unless you're Ramsey.

I get what your saying, but if he can not handle the pressure of this then he won't be able to when it really matters in an important game. My 2 cents

I still hope he is able to get his act together before the season starts. No matter what some fans and the media says, I think Gibbs will give him his chance.
