I was at the game tonight. It was great to see the Redskins take the field for the 2005 season!
First, a couple positives:
1) We didn't seem to have too many penalties, discounting our 3rd teamers in the 4th quarter (gotta check the stats, cuz I don't know the actual numbers).
2) Our O-line (starters) seemed to do pretty well in pass protection.
3) Nemo looked good. Both on Offense and Special Teams.
Ok, here's the not so pleasant:
1) Our offense, not until Brunell went in the game, lacked a rhythm. Now I'm no Brunell fan and certainly this is preseason, but Ramsey just looked really stiff. I hope he get's some mojo before we take on the Bears.
2) Too many turnovers. All around sloppy, un-Gibbs like football.
Some observations;
1) Sean Taylor played with the 3rd team Defense. I would have liked to have seen him go against Carolina's starters.
2) We didn't show really anything vertical tonight.
3) Jansen looked good for a guy who hadn't played since about this time last year.

He had a sweet blitz pick-up too.

I think we have to give it some time. I know we all want to see Patrick, or someone, take us to the next level, but it was only the 1st preseason game. Have faith in Gibbs
Taylor and Landry will take no Prisoners!! - I just can't bring myself to delete it!

haha i remember jeff bostic saying "i don't know whether he's in the doghouse with coach gibbs or whether he's hurt..." hmm, i wonder jeff, ya think he is in gibbs' good books right now after refusing to talk to him all offseason, getting himself into a lot of trouble, and showing up to camp late? great stuff
Sean, may you always rest in peace and look down on us with the same love that we look up to you.
Hail to the Redskins!
Hail to the Redskins!

If we had Portis in there moving the ball on the ground I think that Ramsey could have gotten into a much better rhythm as the drives continued.

Yeah, you're right, time to panic after the first pre-season game of the year. Give me a break. Our recievers were getting open, Ramsey just didn't get them the ball. On the int Patten had completely beaten the coverage. If Ramsey had gotten him the ball he was gone. Ramsey just has to calm down and start making plays. I'm not going to jump all over him because of half a game that didn't matter. Everyone has bad days. If he plays like this for the entire preseason maybe then it's time to panic. Even then Brunell and Campbell looked good so we have competent backups if we need them.
