Jon Jansen

Post by Shabba »

Our OL was horrible at times last season. But we all know that the injury to JJ was a big reason for that.
Will our line be that much better with Jansen there than it was last year. I sure hope so because at times Chris Samuels made me want to slap the taste out of his mouth at times. He has all the talent in the world. But at times he does not play like it.

Actually, I thought Chris Samuels did excellent. I mean he only gave up 1 sack all year!

But with Jansen back and the addition of Casey Rabach, our line will definately be better. Not to mention another year under Bueges system.

And our O Line has great depth. Cory Raymer, Ray Brown, a young stud in Jim Molinaro, and of cousrse good old Ethan

one thing that kinda irks is me is that I heard that they are learning a new blocking scheme to better suit portis's style as a runner. does anyone think that learning a new blocking scheme will not make them as effective?

If the new blocking scheme will increase Portis production, why would it "irk" you :?:
The line was opening holes on short yardage plays last night. Gibbs called 50 pass plays with no sacks given up.
That's a improvement over last year.

im just worried about whether or not learning a new blocking will take a long time or not and if that means it will take until the season is already a few weeks old until it all finally gels. i didnt watch much of the carolina game on saturday but i did hear that the line did well in pass protection, but this was only the first preseason game after all.

Jansen is just a manchild enough said. I can't wait to get him back on the field this year so he can crush some skulls. Did anyone else who was at camp notice how small he made Jeff Bostic look? Dude is huge!

Our Oline should be much better with jansen coming back and Casey here. I think Samuels did great last year giving up only 1 sack. thats great.

Samuels gave up only 1 sack but how many times did he jump before the snap or got called for a false start or got the call for holding. Those are the things that irk coaches.
I am not really down on Chris. I just want him to be the best.

Yes...he jumped some...but the year before it was BOTH he AND JANSEN jumping and causing all those penalties...not just him.

I do however think they will compliment each other this year and the line will be fine. Hopefully they have gotten all those penalties out of their system.

I think the Rock's return along with the addition of Rabach (the best move we made that went completely under the radar) will really help the pass protection. That being said, our problem with false starts was worse then the sacks we gave up. Hopefully that wont be a problem this year.

I disagree. Center was very weak for us in pass protection last year. RT was a weak for us in run blocking. I believe that these two additions will improve us across the board. Casey and Jon are two very athletic people who will really help with our stretch plays.

On paper we should have a Top 5 line this year. Hopefully the players can perform up to their potential this year.

Samuels: Always plays above average and should be able to play even better due to a better surrounding cast.

Dockery: Praised by Bugel and the announcers during Sats. game. He's very big and strong.

Casey: Big, strong, athletic and quick for his size. He'll bring the strength that we were missing up the middle. He blocked great for J. Lewis and will help Ramsey out when the blitzes are raining down.

Thomas: This cat is a beast.

Jon Jansen: Returning to form, he'll sure up the right side and will be one of the big reasons our runing game improves.
