I was wondering there for a while. BTP disappears, and there isn't a ton of Redskins news happening (aside from all that small training camp stuff).

BTP returns, and a day later we find out that one of the cheerleaders has been shipped out of town. :-k

Shoot, if it is true, I doubt it is the first, nor will be the last time that an NFL player got it on with a cheerleader, married or not married. Plus, this is coming from a random chat on a message board - I'll take it with a grain of salt.

Lol, Cooley isn't that great a looking guy, dang, I wish I was a football player, haha.

Obviously you've never seen Chris Cooley in person. He's quite the cutie!

And 1974 is right people do this kind of crap all the time. And I'll add unless you're going to hold everyone accountable the same way you cannot hold it against him.

I kind of feel bad, now that I know it's that specific cheerleader, it's kind of sad...

I mean, this is her dream job... it's like if I slept with one of those hot female journalists and got fired from being GM of the Red Sox...

Poor girl :(

But why should a cheerleader get fired for having relations with a player anyway?

Even so, JH, it does go against the notion of his being one of Joe's "character guys". If true, it is unfortunate. Like others said, hopefully, this doesn't affect his on-the-field exploits. My 2 cents

Dexter Manley was a coke addict, John Riggins was a well known philanderer around town, I could add to the list if you'd like. To add to Riggo - A friend's parents lived in Riggo's neighborhood and he frequented (always waisted) the neighborhood events. Riggo's wife went to the store, forgot something, came home and, without Riggo's knowledge, picked up the phone as Riggo was talking to one of his other women. The wife confided in a neighborhood friend. They separated... this is the part of the story that is nuts - their son, Bobby (eldest - I'm almost positive he's the one), came home from college to find an empty house - both John and his wife had moved out and forgot to mention this to Bobby. The son, went to the neighbor's house and the neighbor broke the news to him... SO, this notion that Joe Gibbs' "character" guys are saints is bogus. Character guys are team players but not necessarily saints. These guys are NFL players in the spotlight, make a lot of money and often fall victim to their new found fame.

So, I'm still taking this Cooley story with a grain of salt but I wish people would stop thinking that Gibbs' "character" guys were bible toting saints... He had a lot of free thinking guys who lived on the wild side of life too on all his teams. The difference is all these "character" guys that Joe Gibbs speaks of would jump into a fox hole/have each others backs no matter what and were the ultimate team players. Joe would turn a blind eye to certain off the field items as long as they were the ultimate team players.

PS - I wear a Riggins jersey and he is one of my favorite players so I'm not busting on the guy... and, this story is true - I'm making no part of it up.

I agree with most everything you wrote except for the following:

Joe would turn a blind eye to certain off the field items as long as they were the ultimate team players.

Spurrier turned a blind eye. Joe doesn't. It may not happen in full view of the public, but I wholeheartedly believe this man does more than just "turn a blind eye". My 2 cents
