I didn't think it was a big deal..but ESPN is making it a big issue. They had a little story about him saying that...and that the Cowboys are unhappy. Their fans have been bashing JGibbs and the Skins on their radio shows and stuff.
Crazy how a couple of words makes such a difference in today's world. Anyway...I'm looking forward to making their ugly faces even uglier on Monday night!
"I was on the sideline and guys were talking about the score, and then it hit me -- we won by 21. I came in the locker room and I yelled it out, and immediately I just kind of broke down in tears. Because I miss Sean, you know."

They showed Gibbs saying that on CSN and then Michael Jenkins put in his 2 cents.

Jenkins (Comcast Sports Net's version of ESPN's Steve Bethueme... known for the sarcastic hilarity) said "To correct Joe: Dallas fans are not ugly. They're fat."

Two rules that only Joe could follow in tandem, and not always.
I was a little shocked. I'm from the old days, where he was always so uptight and tense...when I read those comments, I thought, "No way !" Thinking about it, though...he's a lot looser and more of a peppy guy now.
The outcry is ridiculous. After the Turner era, where I had to sit and watch a Cowboy coach completely turn my team into a laughingstock while bringing in Cowboy receivers (Harper) and Cowboy TE's (Turner), I like knowing where my coach stands...so long as he stands opposing the hated Cowboys.
I like knowing that Joe is putting it back out there that there's a rivalry to be resumed here, as soon as we pick up our level of play. What better way to rally your team than to say, "Oops! I went and did it now, boys. Dallas is coming for me. Do you have my back ?"
"Sit back and watch the Redskins.
SOMETHING MAGICAL IS ABOUT TO BEGIN!"

That is why he did it of course. He is truly sick and tired of the losing streak. He wants the players to take it -personal- for themselves and the fans.

George Allen loved doing it too (with great success, I might add).

If I make it to the Stadium, I would carry a sign with:

Yeah Joe!
Ugly as a horse's ...!!!

I loved to days in the 70's when our players, (espeically Diron Talbert) just came out with it "I hate Dallas". No political correctness there. We hate them and they hate us, so let's get it on. No hugging after the game, no prayer huddles, just good ole venum.

We need to get some of that back.

I have said my dream. Our captains at thjat game need to be McCune, Washington, and Arrington. Don't shake hands, just have McCune say, "Don't be afraid." then strom off the field with the others.

(especially Diron Talbert)

Remember the game that Staubach lost to the Redskins?

A Monday Night game, with Howard CO-sell in his prime. Late in the game, close game, narrow Redskin lead, and Staubach punches Talbert alongside the helmet. After the play, after Diron had sacked him for a ten yard loss. Wow, smart move, Roger, to punch an all-pro defensive tackle in the helmet using your passing hand.

After the sack, after the tack-on personal foul killed the Cowboys, after the game, we learned the truth. Diron had spit in Staubach's face after smashing him into the ground. All the referee saw was Stauback take a swing at Talbert.

Especially Diron.

I heard somewhere that George Allen had said if he lost this game to the Cowboys he would go to the fifty yard line and "duke it out" with Laundry instead of shaking his hand. Is this true?

I saw it on some NFL special or something. I really want to know if its the truth or if its exagerated.

I believe Allen basically said early one Dallas Week: instead of playing the game I'd like to meet Landry at the 50-yard line and fight him - last one standing gets the win for his team...
I'm just stirrin' the pot and living in the '70s.

Nope. One of our plyers -might- be doing that to a Cowpuke on my behalf.
