Jacobs Sidelined By Toe Sprain
Monday, August 8, 2005; E05
An MRI exam on the injured big toe of Washington Redskins wide receiver Taylor Jacobs revealed a sprain that will sideline him at least a week, the team said yesterday.
Jacobs injured his left big toe while making a cut during the Redskins' scrimmage with the Ravens on Saturday in Baltimore and was unable to participate in the 11-on-11 drills. His toe remains moderately swollen, according the club's medical update, and Jacobs will be reevaluated at the end of the week. The Redskins are hoping that 2005 will be a breakthrough season for the receiver, who was selected 44th overall in the 2003 draft but has failed to secure regular playing time.
The team expects Jacobs to make an impact as its third receiver -- Washington plans to incorporate more three- and four-receiver sets -- and he will again miss a portion of training camp, something that dogged him last season. Jacobs missed two days last week with the flu and it is highly unlikely he will participate in Saturday's preseason opener in Carolina.
Bubba Tyer, the team's director of sports medicine, described the injury as a "significant strain," after Saturday's scrimmage, and X-rays at the time were negative. The Redskins traded their top two receivers from last season -- Laveranues Coles and Rod Gardner -- and do not have much depth at the position. With Jacobs out, Darnerien McCants and Kevin Dyson figure to gain playing time, as both veterans are fighting for a spot on the team. Wide receiver James Thrash seems a lock to make the team because of his versatility, sure hands and superior special teams play, and newcomers Santana Moss and David Patten are set to start at wide receiver.

This is his chance to step up and take his skirt off. Take 3 days off and get back on the field...hell, he better insist to get on the field tomorrow, like Carlos Rogers did in May.

WOW So when did you guys start believing that Coles toe was not 100% or are you guys just using that as a rock to throw at him since he did not want to be part of your team anymore.

Try using the 'search' button... maybe then you'll know what you're talking about instead of just acting like it.
We've known about Coles' toe for the better part of two years... it was a CONSTANT concern when he was here. It didn't get in the way of his play much in the first season, but it certainly hindered him last year speed-wise... so much so that the team wanted him to agree to have it operated on this past offseason to try and fix the problem. But there's a chance that Coles' wouldn't recover from surgery and LC doesn't want to take the chance.
We don't need to throw rocks at Coles, he jumped under a boulder all by himself.
But thanks for your two cents... here's your change:

Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.
I actually believe this has less to do with Redskin's fans admitting that he had issue with his toe and more to do with the fact that Coles has admitted it.

Homer: "No Flanders, it's a meeting of gay witches for abortion , you wouldn't be interested!"

Yeah but someone along time ago brought up the TOE situation. All of you skins fans chided him and acted like it was nothing. I guess he is right now.

As for Coles' toe... couldn't have anything to do with the fact that it has got progressively worse could it? Nah... that'd make too much sense.
Sorry dont know who gamby is, and did not know about the search button you got. But yeah it stands that the toe did get progressively worse

Would that be sometime before last week (when you joined the site)?

Now how would you know what someone posted a long time ago without the search funtion?
FYI Coles has had a bad toe for 2 years, Coles has been refusing to get surgery for two years. First he went with padding in his shoe, which kept him on the field until last year when he opted for shots.
One other thing I would have asked "what's a gamby" instead of stating I don't know them - know one said you knew a Gamby
