Sterling Sharpe calls Lavar a free lancer!

Post by Cooley4MVP »

NFL playbook broke down Lavar Arrington and said that he is an impact player but gets caught on an island, and puts his team in bad situations by roaming too much....they showed examples on tape and it seemed to back up the statement ( I still love Lavar)... They also analyzed the passing game and said that they lacked a big target in the wr corp and that the average of 5.4 yards per catch last season, will not go up much this season.

They called our recievers the smurfs of the new millenium....but that they will struggle with out the presence of an Art Monk type reciever....a 6-3 guy with great hands...who can go over the middle.

Lavar was allowed to freelance at Penn State. Unfortunatly the NFL defensive systems require a certain amount of discipline and dedication to learning.

hmm...6'3" you say...how tall is D-Mac...oh yeah, 6'3"! and if i remember correctly, when he got in against Cincy this past season, he had 2 catches, both across the middle, for 46 yards, which put us in postion to tie that game. i wish these people would think before they talk, DMac is NOT a smurf and he will be huge this season for us, both across the middle and in the red zone--keep this topic in the back of your mind when week 17 rolls around and he has at least 7 red zone tds.
Sean, may you always rest in peace and look down on us with the same love that we look up to you.

DMAC IS THE MAN.....Gibbs needs to wake up and get off that high horse and play the boy.

You done already paid him and he has proven himself in the real thing. WHAT ARE WE TALKING ABOUT PRACTICE, PRACTICE WE TALKING ABOUT PRACTICE.

Seeing as how we have not had an outstanding passing game since what 91-92....I am bitter, especially since we had a chance to draft a guy, namely Mike Williams who can be a stud. A tall guy with excellent hands...but we chose not to because we let a great cornerback leave who was in line to become a cornerstone of our franchise, (pierce too) so we have to draft a corner. The passing game was our biggest flaw last year and getting Santana Moss will not help it. He will not go over the middle and he is injury prone.....(just watch some of his old games). Every one is high on McCants...obviously...Gibbs is not, he had to be riding the pine for some reason....To improve our passing game we need bigger targets and a backfield that can block...remember Betts on Ed Reed in the Ravens game......MISMATCH

dmac won't even make the team, unless he picks up the effort in camp a bit.

Well if they cut him, it may end up a Jimmy Smith situation.

Gibbs needs to handle the Dmac situation alittle different.

Why would u cut Dmac and keep Thrash and Dyson

thrash - special teams alone.
dyson - on the bump spot with mccants, its one or the other, and the way things have looked the past few days here at camp, its gonna be dyson on the squad, imo.

Dyson has yet to show why he should make the team. Not that he's doing poorly; the coaches haven't seen enough of him yet to decide.

Why keep Thrash over DMac? The same answer that was given all last year: special teams. McCants, for whatever reason (not willing?), is known to not be a great special teams player.

I do hope that we keep McCants, though. . .I think he's valuable as a player.

Coming from a fan like HS who watches camp, I have to say that I would be very disappointed if DMac does not play his heart out to stay. What is this guy waiting for??? I am sorry if I got this wrong. Unfortunately, I can not follow camp much other than what is posted in the website. I have no access to many news these days.

Back to the original topic.....Lavar is just wasted talent that can't be coached. Marvin Lewis dubbed him "Mr. Can't Get Right" for a reason. I wonder why that is.

as in :puke:
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance

I personally like the speed over height. Id rather SMoss and DPatten start against most CBs. But when in need put DMAC in to catch in the middle.

I am very much against McCants after his little whine fest over not playing and the fact he isn't a practice player being used asw an excsuse. Sorry, but he spoke against Gibbs in the fact he complained about playing time, so I would much rather have Dyson...

Oh My Gosh, I just said I wanted Kevin Dyson over someone not named Terrell Owens.

So instead of addressing the issue of the post, you would rather avoid the real question and call people names.

IMO Lavar could be ALL WORLD AT LB POSITION

No matter what you may say Arrington has not lived up to the hype and his potential.

He has been allowed to live off of his physical reputation so far, the whole league knows he is not a discipline player.

His blown and missed assignments overshadow all other things he have done positive.

Lavar has only been a factor in about 3 or 4 games.

Does that not show the fault and hyprcrisy of Gibbs.

Although Dmac does not practice well, he is proven on the field, espically the redzone. Oh and he attends voluntary offseason program and he does not get into trouble off the field.

Where as you have a player like Taylor who has been in the news since he has joined the team. Taylor because of his ability on the field will get a "pass" and most likely be a starter in the Chicago game.

Uh, no. Every Redskin, except ST participated in the voluntary off-season program. DMac definitely proved himself under SOS, but has not yet done so to Gibbs. ST on the other hand has proven to be a monster player. Did you hear Gibbs praise him after his selection at #5 overall? He had a great preseason last year, but still didn't start until game three. Gibbs was showing him his lack of hypocrisy, by making him learn his place before he was allowed to play.

1. Yes, foreverD, I think that Arrington has not yet accepted the discipline of playing in the team's defensive system. That's a weakness, no matter how talented he is.

Around here, we tend to think of Wilbur Marshall, a spectacular LB that the Skins piked from the Bears '85-87 power teams. Marshall ran around a lot, trying to be Lawrence Taylor, and clashed with Richie Petibon. When Marshall learned to play Petibon's assignments, he made the pro-bowl and the Redskins went to the playoffs.

Yes, Arrington has to learn to play for this defensive coaching staff.

2. McCants? Gibbs knows what he wants, and if McCants won't practice hard, or learn to block and tackle, then Gibbs will lose patience. Hypocrisy? No. It's patience and judgement.

I don;t see training camp, so I trust what our board members see. If Dyson outplays McCants, then Gibbs will keep Dyson. For Gibbs, you are defined by what you do.
