Ade Jimoh starting nickel back?

Post by DieselFan »

Don't know if you guys caught this or not, but according to the Washington Post...as of right now: "Cornerback Ade Jimoh, who has been used primarily on special teams the past two seasons, was serving as the nickel back with the first-team defense at the start of camp"

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/sports/redskins/longterm/2005/trainingcamp3.html

Yikes! Carlos Rogers needs to get that ankle healed...quickly!

(I'm hoping that) This probably has something to do with Sean Taylor starting out with the 3rd string defense at camp. With any luck, we won't see a similar description come September.

Yeah, the first time I noticed him he tripped and rolled away as the receiver he was covering caught a deep ball in the end zone.

The last time I saw him he was running over David Patten...the ref couldn't get the flag out of his pocket quick enough

This guy somehow makes the roster every year - I don't get it!

I always made fun of him and wondered why he was kept around but then I saw an interview with him on redskins.com. He seems like a very inteligent and hardworking guy. I still don't think that he's a good player but now I respect him and I can see why he doesn't get cut. He does play some special teams and he seems to have excellent work ethic. Seems like one of those "good character" guys.

I remember when that interview first came out. . .people on the board didn't know how to handle it. Everyone had been hating on the guy, and then we find out that he's a great locker-room presence and a very hard worker. He's just got less-than-desirable skills and tough luck, which is killer for a guy on your roster.

I'm still torn. . .but I think I'd cut him pretty quickly, if given the chance.

Two years ago the guy's middle name was toast, but last season he did much better. I don't remember cursing him but once or twice all year.

Yea, I remember that interview. I'm very torn emotionally over Ade. I'm partial to Wilds for several reasons: I think he's more gifted physically and he's a VT boy. If there is a roster spot for Ade, I would like to keep him due to his presence and work ethic.

He's good on ST, not so great on defense.

If there is no one that is his equal on teams that plays better defense, he may still make the team.

I should clarify, it's not probable, but it's possible.
