I hope he does well for the panthers...which I think he will...he has the big play ability and will complement Smith real well... wow... the season is coming!!!!
Why? I hope he sucks. Unless they gave us a 3rd rounder or better, then he can do well.

Why would you hope he sucks? Its not like he was a team chemistry problem or disrupted anything. He was a decent player with good potential and work ethic. You can't necessarily fault him for being inconsistent. Maybe all he needed was a change of scenery. He was a solid player for us and we as Redskins fans should wish him well in the future

I always hate these kind of deals though. Teams always trade a quality player that doesnt want to be there for a low draft pick. It almost always works out for the team who gets the quality player. During the draft the Seahawks were actually trying to trade Shaun Alexander for a 3rd round pick...are you kidding me. And now we trade a 1st round pick for most likely a 5th-7th round pick. I would've liked to see us get a guy like Keary Colbert from the Panthers for him but oh well.

Rod Garbage
See Ya! I think at the point the skins will take anything, AnyThing to get rid of this guy. Have to say I enjoyed his catches.. 50% of the time... He did catch Brunell's longest pass of the year, right?

If you search back through my history, you'll see that he used to be my most hated player. Brunell more than excelled at that position for me. Rod didn't irritate me too badly towards the latter half of the season.
He still can't catch though, lol.

I dug this up.
Panthers | Gardner Will Cost Sixth-round Draft Choice
Wed, 27 Jul 2005 16:42:19 -0700
Pat Yasinskas, of the Charlotte Observer, reports the Carolina Panthers will give up a sixth-round draft choice in 2006 to the Washington Redskins for WR Rod Gardner if Gardner passes a physical with the team Thursday, July 28. Sources also noted the compensation is also conditional on Gardner making the team's roster. The Panthers will be responsible for $2 million base salary for Gardner, who is in the final year of his initial contract.

So is it actually 50/50 whether we get anything?

You know, Tom Brady was a 6th round pick.

Actually, he was bad for the team chemistry and that is precisely why we got rid of him. Why do you think he was specifically told not to attend offseason training or practices? He and Coles both disrespected Joe Gibbs and were not team players and Joe wanted both out of here at all costs. Good riddance!

HE'S FINALLY GONE!!!

Well actually Moss was much better on the long passes over the span of his career. So I think that comes in handy with a RB like Portis.

Moss can catch, that justifies his presence on the field. 50/50 doesn't catch, so why is here there?

If the 6th round is confirmed, I am very happy. I was sure we would get absolutely nothing. Obviously, the strategy implemented by the front office worked to delay his release worked.
I can not believe those Panthers fans Smithian. Nice board but they are way off base vis-a-vis their SB chances.
As the "6th better than nothing" story fades, I can not help but remember that we wasted a first draft choice on this guy. From first to sixth in just a few years. Hopefully our 6th pick next year results in a good choice.

Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!
