I had the chance to watch "Spanglish" last night. It was a great movie, DESPITE Adam Sandler's starring role. Maybe it was because it hit home on a lot of levels, but I found myself riveted to my chair until the movie finished. I recommend it to anyone.
I knew it had come out sometime last year, but I don't think it did very well, since it didn't feature Sandler's sophmoric humor. I truly enjoyed the flick, and I hope you do as well.
Nah. That's just it. It wasn't a typical Adam Sandler movie. For a minute there, he seemed like a legitimate actor. Of course, I guess it was due to the lethargy associated with the weight he gained for the role. It looked like he weighed easily over two bills.
I frankly didn't think this movie was too great, but to each his own. If you really want to see Sandler playing a character that isn't his normal comedy routine, see Punch Drunk Love. Kind of a weird movie, and definitely not hte greatest, but I was impressed that he could act a little.
Punch Drunk Love was a really disturbing film, IMO. But, yes, Sandler did a good job in it. Of course he foolowed that with something like, Big Daddy or Mr. Deeds.
