Could Bruce help out the Champ situation?

Well, I'm probably wrong on this and as I write, I may prove myself wrong.

Okay, if we franchise Champ and he returns on the one-year franchise deal, it would cost about 6.8 million bucks against the cap. If we cut Bruce Smith, we would save 6.5 million dollars and give ups 15.5 million bucks of cap room. BUT:

I think we HAVE to wait until June 1 to cut Bruce to save that much money. And if we don't have to wait, we would still only have about 9 million $ of cap room.

So, I have to ask, is there ANY way that this situation could work?

BS announcing retirment would be the ideal situation interms of the cap.

What difference does it really make?

If he won't retire... just cut him and eat all the cap this year. We still save 6.5 mil.
