PS2/ESPN 2K5 help

So whenever I play my ESPN 2K5 in francise mode, it will freeze in the 1st or 2nd quarter, or when I try to change my substitutions. I think the menu is called "auto subsitutions"- and every time I try to change it- the game simply freezes, so depending on the formation, my QB will be T. Haslebeck, Ramsey (who is hurt- but it still puts him in?), or M. Glover (draft pick) no matter how I set up the depth chart - but it doesn't really matter anyway because the game simply freezes when I try to play.

I thought it was my copy of the game, because after trying several other games, ESPN was the only one freezing. So just today I bought my friends ESPN, and the same thing happened.

If anyone knows why this is happening or what I can do, please let me know. Thanks.

It's probably your console, or maybe somethings wrong with your Franchise which means you might have to start over.

I still play ESPN today and it never has frozen on me once. (but I have XBOX)

Keep ESPN, its a great game. Get some compressed air and blow our your PS2 gently. Guy purchase another copy if cleaning fails.
