Well, here goes nothing. Personally I think he is an exceptional athlete. However,if teams and the NFL continue to find ways to make excuses for such actions, then these actions will continue. These players are payed alot of cabbage to play a game. If he is found guilty he should not be allowed back in the league. That goes for drug use of any kind,or any violation of state or federal law. No that does not include J-walking or even dui's.The rest of the world has to play by the rules and unless the league makes a stand it will continue. I know alot of you don't feel the same but it really should be about more than playing a game. It should be about being a role model and a decent human being.

Right there with you, mulkey! AND I'm a new season ticket holder to boot!!! I think the league should especially be hard on him because he missed the ROOKIE SYMPOSIUM last year!! I definitely don't want him back until this whole thing is settled because he does not impress me as the type of guy that can keep it together for a whole season with a significant trial on the horizon. What I want to know is if he is found guilty, do we get a draft pick or cap relief or both?

Obi one couldn't turn Darth back from the dark side and neither will Gibbs be able to turn Taylor away from the dark side. This kid is rotten through the core. He has left a trail of misfit behavioral events over the last year from his behavior and disappearance at the rookie symposium, to drunk driving at a party in the middle of the season, to demanding a new contract in less than his first year....to disappearing from the Redskins and NOT returning Gibbs phone calls all off season....to suddenly showing up where everyone could see him....on the front page of every newspaper involving a gun incident.

If Taylor becomes a choirboy after this and it all blows over, Gibbs should be written into the next STARWARS, so he can turn DarthVader back to good.

Of course role models in the mold of Art Monk and Darrell Green would be great but they come come once in a blue moon. I do not expect that much. I would be quite happy if he is a decent human being and a true professional. A true professional does not embarrass his sport, his team and himself

Just to add, a true professional, a Redskin, returns Joe Gibbs' phone calls.

I, too, hope that Sean Taylor transforms himself, but I'm not going to depend on it. As I let my imagination roam, I imagine that Taylor returns to the Redskins, in between court appearances, and, as RiC suggests, Gibbs puts him on the bench while hard-workers play safety.

Gibbs says, here, Sean, sit here, between these two fellows. Both of them are wearing Redskin coaching outfits, the red baseball cap and yellow 'R', like the old days. "To your left, Sean, I'd like you to meet Ken Houston, Hall of Fame at strong safety. To your right, Sean, this fellow with the large gut, is Richie Petibon, who invented the position you want to play, who brought it to the Redskins in 1971, who retired and made way for Mr. Houston, and who was my defensive coordinator for twelve seasons and three Super Bowl victories. Your job, Sean, is to listen to Mr. Houston and Mr. Petibon. Just listen."

Stop it!! These guys today only listen to their posse or rappers or rappers in their posse. More than half of these players today have no respect for the history of their sport!

Now with Carlos Rodgers possibly showing signs of having duribility issues(dating back to college too) we need him back there. Not that we didn't anyway. He helps the secondary more than any player we have back there.

If Taylor and Rogers and other questionables (Barrow and Arrington) aren't out there this year, I'd be willing to take Dexter Manley back. Our offense won't produce enough points to off-set personnel losses on defense, in spite of William's genius.

My opinion of Sean Taylor is one of the most difficult situations for me to handle since conception. Everyone on in the NFL and this board especially knows his potential. I think he has the competitive edge to redefine his position if he gets his freakin head right. I do want Sean Taylor to be a Redskin this season and for a while afterwards, but I only under the condition that he shows a little more respect for the team, the coaches, and the fans in washington. If he is eligible to play, I say he sits early on, and utilize him on special teams. On the field, hes shown he IS competitive and wants to get out there and mix it up. I think its the DUTY of his teamates, particularly those close to him (STEP UP PORTIS!), to get this kid on the right path. for now i can only hope, that sean some how turns it around
