Well luckily for the U.S justice system the choice of sentence is not soley up to the prosecuter. While they can suggest a deal or make deals, the judge is not going to let him walk off with nothing after they passed that law in FL. I fully expect him to end up on an extended period of probation if nothing else. But maybe having someone keeping tabs on him would be a good idea for a little while.

So you think it's a good idea that he gets off with another stern talking-to instead of an actual punishment?

I just want him on the field. I'm hoping his dad will set him straight....

P.S. Does anyone know if Taylor has any Hispanic blood? His dads names Pedro and his moms last name is Junor which could maybe be spanish? :hmm:

Question

Post by ShortDawg »

What part of the brain is it that controls and regulates common sense but some of these kids must be missing that section. I am all for going back and giving something back to the place you came from but why the hell doesn't all the money, fame, and popularity show you that the old hang outs are not safe for you any more? If you come from some where that police visit anyway and you returning there as a pro you return there with a bullseye on your back, duh guys stop being stupid.

I'm sort of upset that he isn't being charged because I don't think he will learn his lesson. It's possible and I hope he does but with NFL players the way they are these days, who knows?

I think this is just another case of another NFL player getting off easy.

Well according to the article there is evidence to prove that he didnt do it. If thats the case then he is innocent of assault with a deadly weapon and shouldnt be charged for it.

However if he did have a gun and gets around that then I agree with you.

I dont want him charged unless he's guilty, none of us know for sure what happened. Even Gregg Williams said there are things behind the scenes that we aren't privy to. Everything said thus far about what he supposedly did is hearsay.

It's GREAT that his charges may be dropped! That's pretty good news, isn't it?

About the learning a lesson thing......we could make him learn a lesson by tough attitudes and hard drills all year long. The coaches could make him "pay" for what he did by not allowing him to do certain things and maybe even suspending his pay.....what do you think?

It's good news if Taylor grows up and acts like a responsible adult instead of a thug.

Well said.

If he grows up it would be great.
If he learns he should consider the results of his actions before taking them even batter.

This is great news that he wont be suspended. If he doesn't learn his lesson from this, I think hes doomed. Hes going to be a premier player in the league and we need him to be our physical force on our defense. I wouldnt say this if LaVar was healthy but you never know with him.

What about the contract dispute? If he gets the charges dropped then will he still try and renegotiate?

^^^ he better not, omg if he does I think every redskin fan would go against him 100%. How can he ask for a contract after doing NOTHING to earn it, he actually did stuff to lose money

This whole issue will start to be a little clearer shortly.

1) We do not know that there is a case for suspension by the team or the NFL

2) We do not know that ST has a contract issue

Joe is in control of this team and I hope that ST begins to start respecting his teammates and his coaches v. quickly. I do think he will be in B&G on opening day but it will be interesting to see how he applies himself in the next few months and to whether Greg will let him start.
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Redskins' Taylor Is Set To File Not-Guilty Plea

Redskins' Taylor Is Set To File Not-Guilty Plea

By Nunyo Demasio
Washington Post Staff Writer
Tuesday, June 21, 2005; Page E03

Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor's defense attorney, Edward Carhart, said yesterday that his client will file a not-guilty plea for Friday's scheduled arraignment should prosecutors pursue two felony charges of assault with a firearm and a misdemeanor count of simple battery.

Carhart added that he hopes to spur the Miami-Dade state attorney's office to drop the charges by meeting with prosecutors today. The 6-foot-2, 232-pound safety will attend the meeting, Carhart said.

Carhart said that he will present evidence and witness accounts that prove that Taylor did not point a gun, as the police have said.

"I sincerely believe that Taylor is innocent of the charges," said Carhart, a well-known trial attorney, who has practiced law in Florida for the past 40 years, including 10 as a prosecutor. "At least one witness I interviewed told me Taylor did not have a gun and that there was no bat. And he will be a great witness who was in Taylor's car."

The police say Taylor pointed a gun at two men who he believed stole his two all-terrain vehicles after driving his 2005 Yukon Denali into a Miami neighborhood while being trailed by friends in another car. According to police reports, Taylor got out of his car and demanded the return of the ATVs. Although no shots were fired, police reports said, Taylor and his friends returned 10 minutes later. At that point, Taylor's co-defendant chased one person with a bat and Taylor punched the other person, police said.

Miami defendants in high-profile cases typically don't show up at their arraignment. Carhart said that he will file a written not-guilty plea on behalf of Taylor -- if the charges stick -- without attending the arraignment. In Florida, defense attorneys aren't required to be present when their client pleads not guilty, Carhart said.

Prosecutor Mike Grieco is overseeing the pre-filing conference, in which the state attorney's office decides whether there is enough evidence to try the case. According to a source involved in the process, Grieco won't make his decision until the meeting with Carhart and Taylor.

Redskins Note: The Redskins reportedly are among three teams interested in free safety Lance Schulters, who was released by the Tennessee Titans last Thursday for salary cap purposes. A source familiar with the situation confirmed the club's interest in Schulters -- once a premier safety -- but a signing wasn't imminent because of his asking price. Schulters's agent, Brian Levy, did not reply to a phone message.

On Saturday, Washington signed safety Tony Dixon, who started seven games for the Dallas Cowboys last season. But Gregg Williams, assistant head coach-defense, told reporters that the club could add another defensive back. The Redskins had been hoping to bolster their secondary even before Taylor's legal issues.

Same here, if hes not convicted or charges are dropped than I see no reason for GIbbs to punish him at all, so you guys saying he will miss a game or two, I don't expect him to miss any games

I wonder what JGibbs would do if ST brought that up. I'd be so happy if we cut him if he asked for a big contract after all this crap he did. The word 'contract' should not even be in his head at this time.

That is what a lot of money and real good lawyer can do for you. Look at OJ and Ray Lewis they were both involved with a murder and neither of them are in jail. My prediction is Taylor will play for the Redskins and make the Pro Bowl this year.

OJ - not guilty
Ray Lewis - not guilty
Michael Jackson - not guilty

Hey, if you got the $$$, you get a lawyer who knows the flaws of the system and you go free.
