Funniest Male Comedian of All Time??
Who is the funniest male comedian of all time?
If your choice is not listed, throw out your write-in.
This is hard for me, but I'll go with Richard Pryor, just because so many comedians after him borrowed so much of his style.

I don't know if he's the funniest but I am rarely not laughing at his stuff.

Nobody holds a candle to Pryor IMO... if it weren't for Richard Pryor, there wouldn't have been an Eddie Murphy or a Dave Chapelle or a Bernie Mac.
Not only did Pryor break new ground for comedy, he TORE down racial barriers in doing so. The guy was in a league of his own in my opinion. He used to do this sketch about Monkees...
... all I have to do to THIS day is think about the skit and I'm on the ground crying.
The man was off the hook and set a precedent that can likely NEVER be filled as his legacy as the 'first' will always be just that. He changed comedy 'vernacular' and he continues to be the inspiration to many, many comedians some 30+ years after his real 'prime'.
Once Richard took the kid gloves off, the world of comedy was never the same. I don't think ANY other comedian can make that claim.
Pryor is to comedy, what Muhammad Ali is to boxing... someone who has been at the pinnacle of his craft and was simulataneously a revolutionary. Tough shoes to fill.

Redd Foxx opened that door not Pryor. If you can ever find some of his old bits, they're priceless. The raunchiest, funniest stuff I've ever heard.
If groundbreaking is what you're looking for though, look no further than Lenny Bruce or Andy Kauffman.
This space reserved for BTP......If he ever wins it.

I said Chris Rock. I always liked him in all of his movies. Chrish Tucker was great in Rush Hour 1 and 2 though....
"I was on the sideline and guys were talking about the score, and then it hit me -- we won by 21. I came in the locker room and I yelled it out, and immediately I just kind of broke down in tears. Because I miss Sean, you know."

I saw Pablos "Comedy Central Presents" episode and it was probably one of the funniest standups I've ever seen...
The best on this list IMO is probably Chris Rock BUT I've never seen Richard Pryor so maybe I should watch some of his stuff before making a decision.

I think there was one good movie with Chris Rock, I may be nuts but I'm thinking it had something to do with being a spy or something. What was that called??
Whenever I start to get blue, I just breathe!
My favortie line from the Simpsons:
Flanders: "Looks like someone is having a pre-rapture party!"
Homer: "No Flanders, it's a meeting of gay witches for abortion , you wouldn't be interested!"

All I can think of is Head of State. Now that was a great movie!

Nope Punu was right it was Bad Company. We got it as a gift for my brother's girlfriend and we watched it with them. I wouldn't have otherwise watched it but it was a good movie. Pretty darn funny.

Chaplin
None of the above in the list. The Funniest and Best Comedian of All Time was:
Charlie Chaplin.
Try some of his movies almost a century later. He could do it all.

Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!
