Don't forget Jimmy Conzelman - player-coach-owner HOF. I'm not saying to suit Mr. Snyder up but the guy is an amazing success story, incredibly smart, and a guy's guy. He made some mistakes early but wants to win as much or more than any of us. Today's big salary players would look up to someone with Mr. Snyder's business accumen. If he surrounded himself with Xs and Os guys for assistants and let them call most of the shots there is no telling how far this team could go.
Coach Gibbs wwas one of the greatest coaches ever, but I wish he stayed in retirement - I bet he does too!!
Let's face it - today's game and players are different. Ask Mike Ditka.

Apples and oranges.
Ditka was a dynamite TE with a temper, who basically yelled at people, and let other coaches do the work, especially the D. Like it or not, Buddy Ryan was the reason that team was great, not Ditka. Much like the Ravens of a few years ago, the job of his offense was to score enough points to not lose the game, (with Jim McMahon in the Tony Banks role) and to get Sweetness into a rhythm.
Gibbs was, is and will be brilliant. He has repeatedly demonstrated his ability to adapt his plans to the strengths of his players. He did it with 3 different quarterbacks, and 3 different running backs. The difference is, Gibbs will overcome the weaknesses of last year. Unlike Ditka, his defense won't have to carry the team again.
Ditka was just loud. Helluva TE, adequate coach.

Guys - I'm not an alias - I'm the real deal. I'm not a Redskin basher - I'm a season ticket holder and a true fan. Unlike alot of others people who post here, I'm not going to say all is fine when there is clearly a problem. I stand corrected that Coach Gibbs was better than decent the 1st time around- I was just a little frustrated when I posted this. He was one of the greatest coaches we will ever see but I disagree with one of my bashers who said he "won titles in two major sports" Driving a car is not a sport in my book - It rates right up there with frisbee and lacrosse as far as sports go.
Why not let Mr. Snyder give it a shot - He owns the team... we don't. He is richer and smarter than any of us. He needs to start converting his brain from business mode to football mode. I've met this guy in person and he is truly amazing - He started with nothing and built an empire. We should consider ourselved lucky to have him as an owner for the next 40 years or so.

Except for the fact that he allowed the stadium to be changed to Fed Ex Field. How lame is that?

Ok...finally some reasoning that I can respond to.
First of all, NASCAR - love it or hate it - is a sport. I hate this whole "is a sport, isn't a sport" discussion, because the way some people put it, only american football, futbol, rugby, hockey, and basketball would be sports. Everything else is chopped liver in their books.
However, all the other "non-sports" take just as much dedication, hard work, money, finesse, and intelligence, among many other attributes.
Have you ever tried to drive a race car for 500 miles? From what I've heard and seen, it's hard as crap; and nothing like frisbee. It takes athleticism, both mentally and physically; and a firey, roll-over, wall-smashing crash can take a heck of a lot more out of you than someone laying you out on a football field. So let's put this "not-a-sport" talk to rest. The bottom line is that Gibbs built a winning team in two sports - 'nuff said.
Now, I'm not a very knowlegeable history buff, but did Snyder ever play organized football? [Simply asking a question, no sarcasm intended]
I'm sure Danny boy's seen a lot in his short tenure, but I just can't see him being fully prepared to lead a team. And a group of yes-men and advisors is not sufficient, IMHO.
Gibbs has been here for one year. We should all cut him some slack. If we go 6-10 for the next two consecutive years, you may say whatever you want - it still won't detract from his past accomplishments, though. But give him some time; we'll get there.
ps. If we go 8-8 or 9-7 next year, will the Gibbs-bashing continue? Or will we be able to say, "we are improving; another year and we'll be in deep playoff territory"?

With all due respect, I think Gibbs is the BEST person to coach this team. He IS what it means to be a Skin. He implemented and exemplifies EVERYTHING that we as Skins fans cheer for. IF not for him, we might be like the Beagles and just wish year in and year out. Maybe he misjudged the changes in the game last year, but I will bet money that that mistake WONT be made this year. We will be restored to the Old Skin glory! Mark my words! This year? Maybe, maybe not. But trust me, Danny Boy just needs to stick to signing paychecks.

I see that you have no clue... You've obviously never played Lacrosse. Probably never seen a game.
Then why do BuddyBuzzerd and Johnny Dunn have the exact same IP address?
BUSTED!!!
Oh... explains a lot.

What about George Allen?DaRealistJoka wrote:BuddyBuzzerd wrote:How many of you out there are just plain sick of Coach Gibbs? I thought he was decent the first time around, but after this year, I've just HAD IT. I think that Mr. Snyder might actually make a better coach than this guy.
Some of you guy's are just plain stupid. He was the only coach to give this team greatness. He was the only reason why we have any superbowls. He is one of the best coaches to ever coach this game. If I am not mistaken he is second on the superbowl list. So I really hope this thread be deleted. Some of guys are redskins bashers just like everbody else.HALL OF FAME, YEAH YOU GET THAT FOR BEING DECENT, STUPID!!! If you love this team you will support anybody that is the coach of this team.
