So, I'm kind of sick of all the Brunell/Ramsey talk or anything that even questions Joe Gibbs' decisions so I'd like to start a new topic.

What kind of defense does Gregg Williams run? How will Lavar be used? Will he be given more freedom as he had last year or will Williams contain him more as Marvin Lewis did?

Williams' defense emphasizes creating havoc at the line of scrimmage. He blitzes a lot, but shows blitz without actaully blitzing just as often. He feels like if you can win the battle at the line of scrimmage, everthing else your defense does will be easier.

He was the mastermind behind the Bills' defesive turnaround, that saw them improve all the way up to the leagues second rank. He likes using big d-lineman to clog the middle, and allow his linebackers to make plays and roam around, in THEIR restricted areas.

L.A. Nation will love him. Just ask Takeo Spikes...

We need to get a few d-lineman to help his system thrive in D.C., but once we do things could be exciting.

Lavar will break jaws next year. He will put atleast two people out next year. I know the game is not meant to be played that way :^o

but he cant help it hes a monster and does not know what he is doing at times

Monster he is. I'm dying to see him make Redskins games is own personal highlight reel. There were a couple of times this year he almost re-created the Lavar Leap...

Williams had a nice interview in which he talked about he ran a hybidized version of George Allen and Buddy Ryan's defenses with other defense mixed in. He talked about the fact that they would be operating mainly out of the 4-3 but that he packages the opponents to death depending on the packages the opponent puts on the field. He mentioned 3-4, 3-3, 2-3, 2-2, and bringing 4,5,6,7,8 guys at a time but also for showing false blitzes and disguising who is blitzing...

He mentioned at least three times in the interview the word aggressive, and that my brother and sister Hogs is what I love to hear.

i have 100%on joe gibbs period. no questions asked.
but to the topic of discussion on greg williams defense and what it will allow lavar to do in it.well i say it will make it worth while like geepz just ask spikes.williams has an agressive approach to his defense and it all starts upfront where it should start with the lb,s being aggressive in which we have already have with trotter ,arrington and armstead .
it should be very interesting to see how things play out on this side of the ball.i,m ready to see the skins get after people for a change ,but it all starts upfront with the pass rush.

LaVar is going to be a dominating force next year, hes still 2nd or 3rd best LB in the league without the big defensive lineman that Ray Lewis and Urlacher have. The defense has amazing talent, should be top 3 in the NFL next year.

One thing that really surprised me was HOW BAD OUR SECONDARY WAS in 2003. What was it, 22nd, 23rd in the league?

With Champ and Smoot you would figure we would be a shut down the pass type team...But I am well aware that Champ and Fred can't do it all.

No pass rush = RB's, TE's, and flankers getting time to get open. Looking back I noticed that opposing offensive plays took a long time to unfold. Not only does this "free up" receivers, but it also tires the defensive players. I think we all agree a sack or a batted ball ends the play the quickest.

I fully expect the Redskins to address the defensive line starting Mar. 3rd.

"Once this Quarterback smoke screen clears you will see Redskin One landing at Dulles Airport with a few 300 pound bubbas grinning ear to ear!!!"

I guess opinions vary, but I hope we draft Sean Taylor with our 1st round pick. I believe he will make a huge impact for our defense.

Sean Taylor will make many impacts on Cowgirls for years to come.

Hope we get Taylor and he takes Roy Williams spot in the ProBowl.

I may be mistaken, but if you look at the Carolina Panthers front four, besides Julius Peppers being a 1st rounder, the rest of the line is 2nd and, I believe, but not certain, 3rd rounders. I don't think we should use our 1st round on the front line.

I to am saying we need to draft Sean Taylor but the latest mock draft board has Sean Taylor going to the Giants. Who knows...but if he is around we cant pass him up.

I agree. Last year was the deepest draft in a long time for defensive tackles and none of them had a break out season (Kennedy, Sullivan).

Now, Kris Jenkins was taken in the 3rd round and is the best DTackle in the league.

I would love to get Sean Taylor 1st and Starks from Maryland in the 2nd round. Then have Gibbs go out and fill the rest of the holes with quality free agents (vets)...Kearse, Coleman, Washington, Dillon or Garner, Kleinsasser, etc.

PS- Prisco, on Sportsline, makes a good point in his Mock Draft...the big guys are hard to get, so get them early and get the running backs and tight ends in the 2-4 rounds.

Last night I went through about 15 mock drafts. Some said we would get Winslow, but one said we would pick up Taylor. I hope that one is right. A lot of the mock drafts I looked at had Taylor going to Detroit. I do remember seeing the one that picked the Giants.

I also hope we pick up Kearse in FA. I believe he will have a solid year under Greg Williams. I just wonder how many free agents we can sign due to cap space.
