Tupac or Notorious B.I.G
Who do you guys think was better, I definetly say it was Biggi, he was definetly better. I also think Jay-Z was up there, he was one of the best rappers too

Dude, how could you even have a poll like that? You MUST include an option for "equally talented." They were both icons in the rap world, and continue to influence that genre of music to this day. I can't vote because I like them both. They were different in their approach, but both made heavy impacts on the ghetto life.
Personally, I used to be more of a hip-hop cat than rap. I can still JAM to Tribe Called Quest, Mos Def, De La Soul, Common, The Roots, Talib Qweli - I could go on and on.
I'm more into the jazzy undertones now...speaking of which, when is that John Legend cd gonna get here...

Both were equally talented and dominated their respective coasts. The funny thing is that Pac was actually from Baltimore. I think this actually comes down to production style. Dre or Puffy? Which do you like better? I'm more Dre fan myself.

I've heard that he use to just sit in a studio for months and make track after track after track. 80% of it was never released. We'll be hearing Tupac remixes for many years to come.

if it's like most artists today (from any genre) there are literally hundreds of songs that don't make the cut for the CD the artist is working on. Those tracks build up over time(not even counting the various acapella's, freestyles and jam sessions), with each subsequent CD. I'm pretty sure Tupac has alot of leftover material his mom could use to keep putting out his music.
Advanced beyond all that you can hope to comprehend with 100% of your brain!

I'll probably die before his last song comes out.

I think they are both the same as far as talent goes but I have 5 Tupac songs on my iPod and none from Biggie.

Re: Tupac or Notorious B.I.G
I like both, Tupac spoke to the soul most of the time and Biggie did that hardcore rapping.
How can you put Jay-Z anywhere near Tupac or Biggie? Didnt Jay-Z say he was better than Biggie?

Wrong wrong wrong A lot of people think that but Tupac was from New York not Baltimore
You're right, he was born in Brooklyn, then moved to Bmore and finally ended up in Oakland, CA.
Regardless, he was from the the east coast. The entire east vs. west thing was ridiculous and his being from the east makes it even worse. That's what I meant by that. My fault.
I love listening to Tupac while working out, gets me pumped! However I'd go with Biggie over Tupac every time when I'm out driven in my car:)
Just my
Cheers!

Tupac is the G.O.A.T. Biggie Smalls had sick rhymes and a good voice for rapping, but Tupac was the epitome of what a rapper should be and thats not what you see on the radio airways or MTV today. He was REAL, when you listen to his music you can feel his energy and how into his music he is. You can tell he does it for the love of rapping and making rhymes, not just for making money and being famous which is what Biggies stuff was more like. Some of Pac's lyrics were so deep that even though they didn't really affect me, it made me feel his sorrow and pain. the only rapper who can do that besides Pac is Nas, who is underrated in my opinion. Nas is one of those unheralded rappers who has great street cred but doesnt get much love from the media. His stuff is too political and not enough sex n drugs you could say. Regardless, I hate to diss Biggie like this, and although I respect him, I truely think he's overhyped for the mere fact that he's dead. Tupac is better, hands down

Wow...tough call for many reasons.
Personally Biggie is my favorite of all time but i can debate the fact that Pac is better.
2 reasons why....
1. Pac had more informed and more indepth lyrics with mutiple meanings and political formats. People like that. Biggie was a party MC ....didn't have the black panther upbringing and more or less had less time to rhyme.
2. Pac was an animal. The guy would go into the studio for 3 days at a time and record 35 songs....for god sakes the kid still has music coming out. He made more music...he had more time to master his craft.
Im from Ny....so maybe im partial to big for that reason....but im my book The Notorious BIG is the greatest MC to touch a mic....His flows were sick his rhymes were fire ...he could rhyme over a heartbeat.
Depending on what you consider important of comparing these guys ,i think they were both so good it's more a matter of style. Which do you like better.
I can only imagine how good they would be with anoth 10 years under their belts. Id love to see a BIG / Kanye West joint or maybe Even a Pac/Game collabo.
Ps....**** Jay-z. He was wack back in the days of DJ Clarke Kent and Biggie schooled him to the game....when Big died he took Biggie style and ran with it. I don't respect a damn thing he did after in My lifetime Vol.1
