Nothing better on Saturday mornings back in the day...

Post by REDEEMEDSKIN »

I stumbled across this animation this morning, and it reminded me of a time when wrestling seemed so real to me and the Hulkster dominated the scene.

Many questioned why the Hulkster would be enshrined in the Pro Wrestling (WWE) HOF this year, but his greatness for the "sport" cannot be denied.

Yes, this is quite random, but it's a nice trip down memory lane on an otherwise eventless Redskins offseason afternoon.

Peace out, brother!!!

Hulk Hogan was and is my favorite wrestler of all time. The Rock was for a while but he will never surpass what it was like to root for Hogan. Plus Hogan has a great taste in colors.

I didn't care for Hogan when I was a kid, I was more of a Savage and Warrior fan. Later I became a Sabu fan.

Yes, those two were superstars in there own right, but it was the Hulkster who paved the way for them to reach superstardom.

One of things I liked about wrestling back then was that the title seemed to mean something. It didn't change hands at every other PPV.

Hogan's reign as the champ was sweet because it seemed like the only times he would defend the belt was at Wrestlemania or Survivor Series. And, of course, he was unbeatable. Whod'a thunk that a man in yellow tights would "electrify" sports entertainment decades before the Rock coined the phrase?

When the Hulk was there, wrastlin' felt far from real. I'm old school. Bring back Bruno Samartino, Chief Jay Strongbo, Greg "The Hammer" Valentine, Bob Backlund, Jimmy "Super Fly" Snooka. Now *THOSE* were pure WRASTLERS baby!

I was never a really big wrestling fan, but for the time when I was really into it, I have to admit that Hulk and Brutus the Barber Beefcake were my favorite wrestlers.

At that time it was fake. Between that, Fraggle Rock, GI Joe, and the Sat. morning Rick Flair and Hulk (soon to be coming mathchup) my childhood was great.

SPIT HAPPENS!!

Show some love to the Pedro Moraleses of the world, too, when you're talking old school wrasslin'. That was how I was first introduced to wrestling. My dad was a big Pedro Morales fan, and would always watch the Spanish broadcast of the WWF.

On second thought, that may not be "old" school enough.
