Ramsey's Concern Continues

Post by DEHog »

Man this story isn't going away anytime soon!!!

On Wednesday, Gibbs and Ramsey met to address Ramsey's concerns that he was being supplanted as the starter. According to two sources with knowledge of the meeting, Ramsey indicated to Gibbs that he might eventually seek a trade.
Ramsey was asked if he would demand a trade if he wasn't the starter. "I want to play," he said

Garner

Post by floridaskinsfan »

Also, in that article it talks about the 'skins interest in Charlie Garner. He did not have a great year last year but he is a good back. Dillon is still in the mix I guess but can they afford either of these guys? What other backs in the league would be less expensive but have promise-if we don't go RB in the draft?

OK, I’m a newbie, but I gotta weigh in early on this one …

Three points:

(1) Washington Post – I never count on the Post to report anything but the date accurately, and this being a leap year I’m wary of that too.

(2) Ramsey – Wednesday the press tried to force him into talking trade but, like the quality QB he is, Patrick stands in the pocket, stumbles a little and then delivers a strike: “I want to play.” He wants to be in Washington. Don’t believe anything to the contrary.

(3) Sexton – Gibbs is the man; Sexton is not. Gibbs is not only one of the most brilliant football minds on the planet, he is also one of the most genuine – a man of integrity. If Gibbs says Patrick has a bright future here, Patrick has a bright future here. If he says Patrick will compete for the starting role, Patrick will compete. If Patrick’s agent wants to get in the ring with Gibbs he’ll lose – big time. He’ll lose credibility and he may lose some clients and some deals. If he wants to whine about some hearsay $20 million contract for Brunell (trust me if the talk is $20M, he wants $30M; so do I) being too much to pay a backup, let him shout, There’s nothing he can throw at Gibbs that’s gonna stick (I’ve got something more to say about this that I’ll put in another post). Patrick is in good hands.

So y’all take a deep breath and relax!

I don't care if Sexton would lose to Gibbs in the ring, or who is the more genuine man. What I care about is number 11 in B&G, and number 8 in any other color...

Getting Marky Mark would be a bad move right now. I would rather get a backup, who will hold the clipboard with a smile, but yet can still be counted on to play quallity football. Ala--Trent Dilfer or Jeff Blake...

I'm gonna have to agree with Pigskin on all counts. The only thing I have to add is that agents are the worst. I'm convinced that they push these players into contract holdouts and demanding more money, etc. b/c it increases their commission. I'm not saying the players aren't at fault as well but these agents are the devil.

SportsTalk 980 is reporting the Sexton is driving all of the trade talk. Apparently Ramsey has said he wants to stay but Sexton is saying they might ask for a trade. I hate agents.

Brunell on the phone with Steinberg..."show me the money!!!, i don't care about the contreversy thing anymore"

PS - The Post is the real deal. They have more connections to the Skins than anyone else.
Remember what paper broke the story on Gibbs? The Post. It was the same day that The Times and ESPN were saying that Ray Rhodes was going to be the next coach.

Ramsey "[Coach Gibbs] is a man of integrity and I'm going to trust him". Agent Jimmy Sexton is apprehensive as the team intensifies contract talks with Brunell.

It's stuff like this that makes me dislike all pro sports.

I looked at everything that's been said and what scares me is what's not being said...PRam says I want to play for Gibbs, the key word being play!! I have yet heard PRam say I want to play for Gibbs even if it means waiting, but he's told me it a open compitition and I intend on showing up and winning the job. At any time PRam can go to the media as stop this. Gibbs has said his peace he wants PRam here but he wants a vet and they will compete for the QB slot...That the most honest thing I've heard all week!!

Ramsey is under contract and needs to do whatever Coach Gibbs asks of him.

I don't think his agent is doing him any favors pushing the trade rumors.

Never underestimate the power of an agent. Players listen to agents like there life depended on it. Although we are slime, i mean they are slime its all about money. Players tend to listen to the agents becuase franchises look at for the franchise, not the players. So good agents are hard to come by.

Ramsey is smart he knows to strike while the irons hot. Get what you can while you young.

I agree with DEHog, I wish Ramsey would tell everyone, including his agent, to shut it.

Be a man, welcome Brunell, then go out and kick his butt across Fairfax (or is it Loudon) county and prove to everyone that you deserve that starting spot!!
