Ty Law ?...

Post by hogred »

The Dolphins continue to monitor the situation with former New England cornerback Ty Law, who still hasn't recovered from foot surgery after last season. Aside from the Dolphins, Kansas City and Washington are among the teams interested in signing him. The Dolphins have offered a one-year contract worth approximately the league minimum, and Law might eventually take that so he can become a free agent again after next season.

Are we interested in Law or are they just throwing our name out for the heck of it?

Dude, I don't even care if someone says that we are interested in a player anymore. The stupid media just puts our name in their because of our track record.

I mean, remember when Fat Len told us that we signed Samarii Rolle...

Unless we bring a guy in for a workout, I don't even think about it.

There's no way we're going to get Ty Law. He's to big of a hole in the wallet. Plus, we already have a decent set of CBs who SHOULD do well this year.

If he'll sign for as much or less than McQuarters which is more realistic than you guys might think then I'd definitely welcome him on board

If we can somehow get him for League Minimum then I say, "why not"?

Who wants this guy? The NFL fixed this type of corner by zooming in on the "chuck rule."

The front office is monitoring the situation closely. It is definitely a possibility. Good CB to help groom Carlos Rogers.

There is no way he will play for the league minimum, he won't even play for 3 mil. a year. If he is only offered minimum I bet he'll just retire.

I bet he's asking for at least 4-5 mil a year. But lets just say he gets bumped on the head, and asks for league minimum, I'd take him in a heart beat.

Coach Gibbs isn't going to overpay for Ty Law, because we don't need Ty Law.

He would be a great guy to have if we can get him cheap bc he is still a good corner and he would definitely be great to have around young secondary players like Taylor and Rogers.

I'd like to see this guy here, but only if we can get it done cheaply. If this was 2 years ago and Danny was calling all the shots I'd be afraid we'd give Law a big 6 year deal, but I trust Coach Gibbs to do the right thing.

League minimum? He was like the BEST CB in the league just a couple of years ago. How can he even be expecting such a cheap contract? Would be awesome if we could pick him up with the league minimum....but I just don't see that happening.

Was his injury that bad? What happened exactly...kinda forgot.

.....besides the fact that he has to bounce back from a foot injury, he also has to rehab that foot.

He will be in shape later in the year when we make the push. This is our year.

Greetings from NYC: I heard on the NFL network last night that Ty Law could not even make the cuts neccesary to play his position due to his foot injury. We have enough players returning from injury. We do not need to sign a player that is still hurt no matter how little that player will sign for or how big a name he has!

Exactly, He will be in some form of playing shape by November, depending on rehab.

How can a league minimum contract be a cap disaster?

If Ty Law signs for the league minimum with someone, they're getting a great deal. Sure there is a risk involved because of his injury status, but in any risk, you look at the high side vs the low side.

The low side is that you'd have to cut the guy because he didn't even fit in as a dime back... the high side is that he gets healthy and plays his butt off so that he doesn't have to play for league minimum next year.
Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.
