Lets Play WHAT IF???

Post by MyrtleBeachRedskin »

In light of the new Sean Taylor incident. I was wondering what everyone was thinking about our draft pick? We all made fun of Winslow because he needed training wheels on his bike. However, his career has the possibility of continueing. Sean Taylor which everyone says more information is going to come out, might not have that option. Lets speculate on what everyone thinks happens if he cannot play for the Redskins this year.

Just another knock on Joe Gibbs chin. :x

First of all Taylor hasn't been charged with anything.

Secondly, we will plug someone in that suits Greg Williams so I am not worried one bit.

This may give the Redskins even more leverage against Taylor IMO.

The reason I started the thread was to play what if? so that everyone could voice there opinion on the sitation. None of us really know yet.

Next you cant just plug someone in for Taylor. There is a reason why he was drafted #5. You are not just going to plug someone in for him.

well IF he cant play, I'm afraid we are going to have to plug someone in... Our defense will work together well like it has been and we'll have to move on and look to the future... that's all we can do...

(on a side note, he's just another Randy Moss, he'll grow up in 2 years and see how foolish he's behaving...)

With or without Taylor, our D will be okay. It certainly won't be the end of the world.

Why? When did Randy Moss grow up?

If he doesn't grow up, he doesn't grow up. There are 22 starters on a football team... no one individual is bigger than the sum of it's parts.

Not even Sean Taylor.

Personally... I'll wait and see what the whole story is... I'm certainly not going to base it on anything reported by ESPN. He may be guilty of nothing but bad judgement and being in the wrong place at the wrong time. (And I'm not blindly dismissing that either)

He may very well be guilty of more, in which case, his rookie contract filled with incentives and escalator clauses will be a blessing because he will be cuttable or at least tradable to anyone who might want to take their chances.

So far... ST has been bad off the field... but that doesn't really change the fact that he has been great on the field. The Redskin brass won't likely stand for too many chenanigans, but I'm willing to bet that they're willing to hear the whole story before passing judgement.

'What if' you all were willing to do the same as well?

My 2 cents
Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.

he's like the iverson of the nfl. didn't ai have some involvement in a shooting of some sort?

still i'm sure taylor didn't shoot anyboy. he was just around when it happened. i don't know why anyone would talk about a situation where he's not playing. they just want to question the guy.

Sean Taylor could be one of the most dominant defensive players ever...a guy that could produce a highlight video each season, or heck, each 1/2 season. However, the real question is -- is he worth the baggage? So far, I don't believe he is. What I'd really like to see is -- the Skins not cut him, not trade him, fine him for every mis-step, and then make him sit on the bench.

I know that no one will believe I'm serious here (as I admit to be a serious Skins homer) but I really believe he sits even if we lose... This young kid needs to be taught a lesson - it will teach others that Joe Gibbs is in charge -- not Sean Taylor. He is NOT more priviledged than the other players, the Skins do NOT owe him anything, don't give him a raise, make him sit on the bench and learn. Guys like Taylor make me sick. They sign a contract, get huge dollars, and after one year want to tear up that contract and get a new one? While I hate the Eagles, they are so smart - they told Owens, "NO, we're not redoing your deal. We'll go into 2005 without you" They know they'll not be as good without him but they have to take a stand and that's the smart thing to do. I love that... I don't want Snyder to cave to this guy. Don't let a star bully you...don't let the NFL become the NBA with helmets. In the NBA, the players run the league and that makes me want to puke too. If a star NBA player doesn't like the coach, the coach is fired...give me a break!

Taylor hasn't even taken a call from his coach, come on... Joe freaking Gibbs man...a HOF coach...take the call you punk

If I did that, I'd get fired. I'd love to see Gibbs and Snyder tell Drew -- If Sean doesn't call Joe "HOF coach" Gibbs by Wednesday, he's sitting this year.. If he doesn't show up for everything and on time, we're going to fine him..the guy is so immature that he'll get fined his entire salary... Danny can get his money back, I know you guys don't like Dan but he deserves better.

When the Titans cut Lance Schulters..sign him. He played with Greg Williams...he'd do fine for us next to Bowen.

Time to punish this young punk and show the other players who's leading the ship.

I feel better now!

I totally agree. People act like without him we will be horrific. He was and is an added bonus but we could be even better without him.

If the allegations are true, the Redskins will win in the end because we will hold all the cards regarding him and his contract situation.

It's better to have a good player who follows the coach's instructions than a great athlete who doesn't. This is not fantasy football, stats-only.

So far, Sean Taylor is pilling up evidence that suggests he doesn't belong on the Redskins:

- spits on the Bengals receiver. Marvin Lewis says so, and I take Lewis's word. Suggest that he loses self-control when he plays. Not good, even in a one-on-one game like tennis.

- gets drunk at a game-week party and speeds. Gets off the charge probably because he is a Redskin (count the star athletes charged with crimes and convicted: Ironhead Hayward? Blockhead Lewis? Jason Williams?)

- Misses first "voluntary" training. As Mark Brunnell explained, "voluntary" means you should be there, if this is the NFL. Sure, complain that Brunnell can't complete passes, but he is a genuine veteran, a QB, and knows how a team has to be led. Wherever his arm went, he did not forget his experience.

- Misses econd "voluntary" practices.

- Refuses to contact Redskins organization.

- Refuses to return calls from the head coach.

- Subject to arrest warrent for shooting incident. Presumed innocent, but, wow, it fits a pattern. It suggests a "character flaw".

- That is, where has he been for six months?

Does Gibbs bear the "blame"? Well, so what? Gibbs and the organization draft players. Some don't fit, some fine players later go bad. Gibbs makes the choice: lovable Dexter Manley on cocaine? No. And the Redskins never found another DE to match Charles Mann, but Petibon and Gibbs kept a strong defense. See 1991. Barry Wilburn led the team in interceptions, complemented Darrell Green, won a ring in SB 22, and went heavily into drugs. Again, the Redskins never found a starting CB like Wilburn, shifting to a rotation. After that, CB played by Green and <somebody else>. Did it break the team, or did they win SB 26?

However Taylor turns out, Gibbs will simply move on, finding his kind of players. His kind will win big.

we waited for more than partial facts and conjecture before deciding what Taylor did or didn't do?

Exactly what I was hoping.

On a SKINS fan site? yeah right... you know were gonna jump on anything as soon as we hear word about anyone... and were always first to hear anything...were on top of things :D

Why? When did Randy Moss grow up?

I hear ya, but I was just comparing him from his "off field" activities... Believe it or not he used to be a lot worse... now he's just an immature person on the field. He does seem to have a better work ethic now though...

Not SUV, ATV. We're talking about a $40,000 difference in pricetag. With what he is being paid, you call the police if someone steals from you, you don't take a gun and shoot at their house.

I believe he will merely do some community work and pay a hefty fine, if the rumors of him shooting into a house are true.

Having said that, this should be a wake-up call to young Mr. Taylor. I hope he will learn from this and grow.

I have my personal opinions about his maturity and mental state. For example, last season at tha fan appreciation day, I was in the line to get his autograph, and he just gets up and walks away..right in front from my daughter who had waited two hours in line for a chance to get it. A few of us whined at him and he came back to sign five autographs and, again, left w/o a word.

He almost strikes me as being bi-polar. Reports are that he is hostile to the media, yet jovial to the fans...what up???

He may need counseling and mentoring.

If GW wants to keep him, however, I think JG will defer and let him deal with him. As I, and some others suspect, GW will be the next head coach of the Redskins, and JG is setting the table for him

Let's hope for the best, and the kid is innocent...

i actually really like this plan. i would love nothing more than to see sean taylor sitting his butt on the bench for the entire next season. that schulters move would be great and the redskins need to establish some credibility as a team that does not give in to everyone's demands.
